With five of the big boys, and also Arsenal, having been on European duty this week we may be about the hear the dreaded ‘R’ word a number of times over the next few days as the team-sheets roll in. Certain key personnel such as Hazard were given the week off, other ones played (relatively poorly) and then proceeded to wander around with a pack of Lemsip in their hand afterwards to further fuel speculation as to their possible involvement. All will be revealed in due course though…

Watford pitch up at Fulham to kick us off on Saturday lunch-time to test their strong arm tactics against the strongest of arms in the shape of Mitrovic. Expect fireworks. New FPL favourite Fraser then gets a taste of real Northern ‘hospitality’ at Burnley to begin our 3pm games. Cardiff will hope, probably in vein, not to be the victims of a Pep backlash. Zaha will no doubt get fouled and subsequently wound up like nobody’s business against Newcastle after last week’s revelation that he ‘gets fouled a lot and gets wound up by it’! Vardy then gets another bite at grabbing our attention with a tasty home game against Huddersfield. Salah will then divide an FPL nation by either appearing against Saints or not, and that’s before he even gets a sniff of kicking a ball or two into their net, or doesn’t. Either way, avoid twitter would be our advice, the idiots will be out in full force! Jose’s reinvigoration will be severely tested as the Wolves come a hunting.

Our evening game, after a breathless Saturday afternoon, may end up with Poch wandering alongside the Brighton seafront, supping from a can of Special Brew, muttering nonsensical musings to himself, if the current pattern is to be believed. Or Kane could score a hat-trick and half a million wildcards will be suddenly and unexpectedly activated. Football, eh…

Sunday then sees a supposedly rejuvenated West Ham face a supposedly in form and title challenging Chelsea. Time will tell on both fronts. Arsenal and Everton then close our week out with a challenge as to which one is worse at playing the ball out front the back.

  1. Willing to give it a few more days in case any more news comes out, but I am thinking of/wanting to get rid of Mendy this week.I was thinking Trippier, but read a lot of reports suggesting that he was not great yesterday, and worried he could be rotated.

What are peoples thoughts on alternatives? Walker? Laporte? Vertonghen? Smalling? Really struggling!

If it matter, my current defensive players are:

    Ederson/Hamer

    Mendy TAA Bennett Wan-Bissaka Alonso

    Any advice would be appreciated!

    • Doherty is an option, wolves next 4 games are sou h, cpy a, wat h, bri a,

      • Since I have Bennett, I would rather not go double Wolves – big risks!

  2. 49 points so far. Doherty, 2 points to come in for D Silva with Pedro and Richarlison to play.

I’m thinking Pedro to maddison this week. Even if Pedro is ok for next week he is a rotation risk with William.

  3. What to do with Salah? he didn’t look good yesterday even if he scored.
Can’t see any descent options really other then Mane (already have Hazard)
Maybe Eriksen but spurs doesn’t look all that hot either..

    • Oh and my team, Mendy will probably be TAA if he isn’t fit
      2ft

    • Sterling is a big differential.

    • wafflez – id say to upgrade zaha to firmino and perhaps salah to sterling after the IB.

      • Sounds like a good move thanks smile

      • welcome wafflez. i think u need at least 1 lfc player and firmino is the better option in terms of price.

        • Yea I will get 2 or 3 Liverpool players when their schedule gets a bit easier

        • good to see another lfc fan on here in u wafflez. you can join my mini league for lfc fans if you want. i can share you the code if u want to join mate.

        • Sure eresh i think i can join a few more leauges smile

        • here you go waffles: 126188-520365

        • Thanks smile

        • your welcome wafflez. you will be at the top after the next points update. well done smile

    • I though salah played very well and was unlucky not to have an assist or a 2nd goal to his name. And pool are attacking very well and will get chances.
He did enough to stay in my team.

As you said, who do you replace him with?

  4. Not much from haphazard yet. All we need is a hammers goal and the Chelski train will derail :satansmoking:

    • bring it on! hammers goal is always welcomed

    • Good, good. Just sneaking a peek from behind my Hazard-less sofa smile See you in 45 😉

      • It’s early init, but if that happens be ready for the endless Salah-Hazard movers complaints 😆

        • lol..salah is at 12.9. look how that goes back to 13.0 this week if hazard is goal/assist-less

        • The rollercoaster of the FPL stock market is amazing.

        • 70 % are smart, 30% are idiots when it comes to the market lol

        • I think is 50/50. You see how many in the middle of a round rush to get a certain player because he scored ( not knowing when that might happen again) without even considering midweek games. Avoiding 0.1 increase can cost you much more by next Saturday.

        • We fundamentally disagree on early transfers Ivan.

Yes it’s normally a rush for that week’s new hero who’s about to go up in price, but sometimes it’s to get rid of underperforming players who are about to drop in price, which makes sense to me. If you can drop some deadwood before they decrease, and also get a player you want who is increasing in price, this really helps protect and build team value. Yes it is only £0.1 each time, but it all adds up.

I get the argument about waiting for midweek games, in case of injuries, but in reality I find that rarely happens and, even if it did, it isn’t the end of the world because you can always get rid of an injured player with a -4 (not ideal, but it’s fixable), but you can never get an FPL bank loan for that £0.1M you’re short to do the moves you want to because you waited until after the midweek games to do your transfers 😀

It’s weighing up the pros and cons between a definite gain in team value (assuming the player price change websites are usually correct), against a possible loss in points to deal with a midweek injury.

        • great explanation chipster. you should seriously bookmark that response within a FAQ smile

        • Wow, thanks for that detailed feedback on the subject Chips :smiling:

      • Looking alright so far. Unfortunately

      • Hello smile

Not sure I can do that every week but I just can’t fit him in!

  5. Benched Fabianski and he is getting 9 pts. Somehow every week there is some miss.

    • only 4 ppl in our mini league has fabianski and was benched this week.

    • It could be worse GM. I made a booboo again in my better B team. Left Laporte and Luiz on the bench and played Shaw for 1 point 🙁

  6. Arsenal
