Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 7

Gameweek 7 gets going with a lunch time affair. The slowly improving Hammers take on the slowly deteriorating Man United. That fixture is followed by six 3pm matches. Arsenal take on Watford, Everton tangle with Fulham, Huddersfield hands over 3 points to Spurs, City put 5 past Brighton, Toon welcome in Leicester and Wolves look to impress again vs Saints. All them fixtures are just the appetisers though, for the match of the day. The late game sees Chelsea welcome in top of the league Liverpool in what we all hope will be a back and fourth battle. Should be interesting all that attacking talent going up against each other. Salah vs Hazard, also Mane vs Hazard and if that wasn’t enough, Firmino vs Hazard.

All the fun didn’t end on Saturday. Well, actually, it did!! Cardiff vs Burnley?! Really? One game on Sunday and this is what we got?

Monday sees an end to the gameweek when Bournemouth tackle the hell out of Zaha. Lerma to get a yellow via love tap to the shin on Wilfried? No doubt!

Do people think doing salah and king to Maddison and kane is worth it. Temporarily leave me with no liverpool for a week

      Kralin says:

Kane has got an absolutely plum tie coming up; Leicester’s fixtures aren’t bad at all.

Is it just a short term move for you? After the City game – which could be very open – Liverpool have a nice looking run of games.

I’d have a look at King on Monday before jumping.

      • Zed Leppelin says:

I do love plums! Did you know that dried plum fruits are called “dried plums”? It’s true, I looked it up on Wikipedia!

        • Don’t be silly. A dry plum is a prune 😆

        • Kralin says:

Fuck, I never knew that ZL. Is that really true? Blimey.

The plum season is petering out in blighty, though I scrounged a bag of marjories earlier at a farm shop.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Well, guys, this is what the mighty Wikipedia says on the (very interesting) subject:

“Dried plum fruits are called “dried plums” or prunes, although, in many countries, prunes are a distinct type of dried plum having a wrinkled appearance.”

          Go figure!

        • Zed Leppelin says:

@Kralinho It’s the chanterelle season right now in Finland! They are bloody marvelous!!

        • Kralin says:

If it’s in Wikipedia then it must be true.

I did find myself checking something on W earlier, only to hurriedly realise what I was doing and find another source.

I’m pleased to hear the plums are tasting good in Finland. Did you have a weirdo-hot summer, as we did in blighty? I still have a tomato plant producing quite delicious fruits. But then I use seaweed a bit to fertilise crops. Perhaps that explains it.

        • I can’t believe you ended up in a pomology discussion ZL.
You must be down your cellar again :big-lol:

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Pomology is my middle name! We did have a weirdo hot and dry summer, it was great for growing chilipeppers! I think the first fruits started developing in May this year, whereas normally they come in July! That was unheard of! Guess it’s the climate change… I do love red hot chilipeppers (not the band!!!!), thank god for the Columbian Exchange!

        • AJW says:

Is all this talk about plums, prunes and other stone fruit, some sort of coded language?
In France, a plum is actually called a prune – with the dried varieties going by the name of ‘pruneaux’, or ‘prunilles’ (different variety). The ones from Agen are most famous. No hint of comparison with the skin of our ageing ‘congenères’ (fellow human beings – just to be politically correct!). Hmmm, all this talk sounds like something akin to a BBC cricket commentary, when rain stops play, and we’re into our 14th hour of interesting anecdotes about boiled fruit cake recipes received from folk in Kent, Worcestershire and northern parts of Yorkshire! No offence to FPL players from those parts of the world, bien sûr! smile I wonder if you fellows will wake up today with aching hangovers???

        • Kralin says:

          Morning AJW

Excellent mention of Le Pruneau de Agen. My brain wasn’t quick enough last night. I’ve spent some happy times in the Lot-et-Garonne . Marmande tomatoes are pretty good as well, from that neck of the woods.

It did get a bit TMS last night – after all, what do they know of fantasy football who only fantasy football know – a chance mention of the Cardiff fixture led to ZL talking about plums. The Wikipedia mention was possibly down to my criticising W the other day, but may not have been.

I was as sober as a judge, sadly – just one beer passed my intemerate lips last night.

I hope your GW is going ok.

      • Beaker says:

I’ve got my wildcard so might do this soon. Largely depends what liverpool start doing

        • Kralin says:

          Liverpools fixtures are fine.

I think drinking deep from City and Liverpool is OK. 14 games, 12 wins, 2 draws. I think.

      • AJW says:

GW going krappily (re: puns on Beckett play titles!) for someone who’s just used his WC (and I don’t mean the ‘conveniences’, although I wish I had!) – looking down the barrel of a 60-odd score. Huzzah! Obliged to keep Kun and Salah, een tho the rest of the crowd is swaying towards Kane & Mané et co.!

    MattX says:

How does this look for a first WC draft?

  3. 99

If the midweek games go without injuries I am gonna use the 2 FT for Salah/Auba-Hazard/Kane which leaves me with 1.6(maybe less with the expected price changes) ITB for future adjustments.

    First wc draft.
Im not that good at this game so some help would really be appreciated.

    hammerfan_lm says:

I know this has been mentioned, but what do the top FF247’ers, Smash, Kralin et al think of this for a one week punt:
    GW8:
    Salah->Hazard
    Aguero->Kane
then revert back for GW9 due to Liverpool’s fixture against Huddersfield, and hoping Salah has found his shooting boots?
My only concern for GW8 is that Ederson is my only playing goalie (Speroni is my benched goalie)

      I’m obviously not a top 247er 😉 but I like it.

      • Smash says:

You are better than me so you can comment Rosco

        • inittowinit says:

That’s debatable, at best! I bet you know how to hide an excel column, just for example…. :hippo:

        • MattX says:

We can just right click the column and then select hide. Now we all know laugh Equal playing field!

        • Rosco says:

Ahh excel, such a great program, it gives legitimacy to morons everywhere that they ‘know how computers work’ #yeahsureillcreateanotherbanner

        • inittowinit says:

How can you judge if you’ve never used it?! And how have you never used it, more to the point!

It’s like turning up at an interview and saying ‘no sorry, missed that maths lesson when they taught addition’….

I wasn’t taking the piss by the way, I know you’ve had a rough day, I just find it funny and also astonishing that you can create nearly every graphic we have on the site at a moments notice, the one below in particular took less than an hour, yet when presented with an excel sheet you go all weird on us laugh

        • Rosco says:

Sunday Sun headline ‘broken man kicked in the stomach whilst already bleeding out on the pavement’ local woman who witnessed altercation said ‘ he was already down, you could see he was in a bad way, then this big fella with a scouse accent give him a good booting, it seemed a bit harsh on the bloke on the ground, he seemed to just give up and accept that this was how it was going to be. I think he was a Geordie, poor bloke had probably had his fair share having to watch that dross at St James without that no bigger than 6 foot scouse bloke wading in …

        • inittowinit says:

He probably just lay down, for a Geordie power nap….

      Kralin says:

Thanks for the flattering words H. Nice result for your lot today.

Of that quartet you’d think Kane will be the highest points’ scorer next week. But I’d be loath to do what you suggest as I’m sure Salah will get a few chances next week; probably more than Aguero.

You’re chasing points a bit rather than playing the steady game.

However – if you really fancy doing it (and for god’s sake wait until after the Euro games) then just go for it. Kane could bang in 3 next week.

      • hammerfan_lm says:

No worries Kralin. Credit where credit is due, especially from all the help back in the FFF days. Yes, excellent result for us today. Expected of course…lol
Agree i some respects about Kane and Salah, but for some reason, Salah has gone off the boil. Only other way would be to drop Firmino to a cheaper striker. Would that be a better way?
Agreed again, only chasing for this week as the gap is getting bigger and want to stem the tide for this game week.
And dont worry, it wont be till after the CL games as only a 1 week punt.

        • Kralin says:

For a one week punt Murray could work as your cheap striker.

        • hammerfan_lm says:

Kralin, against the Hammers, how very dare you…..lol
Could always go Ashley Barnes, against Huddersfield…lol
My only other concern is my goalie, but that puts me into deeper trouble. Ederson is my only playing goalie next weekend sad

        • Kralin says:

Well, I’ve had Fabianski alone since day 1 and would swap my er left little toe for Ederson (though not next week). So I wouldn’t worry about that. At least you chose him for your premium goalkeeper, not de Gea.

Has Barnes played 90 mins this season? Or 45 mins, come to think of it.

          Check out Mitrovic’s fixtures.

        • hammerfan_lm says:

True, its only one week, what harm can it do.
As for Barnes, dont think his total playing time even comes to 90 minutes this season..lol… ok, just over…. think I got carried away with who they play next.
Mitro has Arsenal next, but only want a striker for 1 week, as will be getting Firmino back for Huddersfield whitewash.

      Smash says:

I’m so torn on that one. Really can’t decide. Still not sold on Kane but did not see him today. Cardiff at home is as good as it gets though

    Pancho says:

Here’s my squad as it stands for next week with saving my ft. The only player I’m worried about not having is Hazard. Just can’t see how I fit him in…
