Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 7
Gameweek 7 gets going with a lunch time affair. The slowly improving Hammers take on the slowly deteriorating Man United. That fixture is followed by six 3pm matches. Arsenal take on Watford, Everton tangle with Fulham, Huddersfield hands over 3 points to Spurs, City put 5 past Brighton, Toon welcome in Leicester and Wolves look to impress again vs Saints. All them fixtures are just the appetisers though, for the match of the day. The late game sees Chelsea welcome in top of the league Liverpool in what we all hope will be a back and fourth battle. Should be interesting all that attacking talent going up against each other. Salah vs Hazard, also Mane vs Hazard and if that wasn’t enough, Firmino vs Hazard.
All the fun didn’t end on Saturday. Well, actually, it did!! Cardiff vs Burnley?! Really? One game on Sunday and this is what we got?
Monday sees an end to the gameweek when Bournemouth tackle the hell out of Zaha. Lerma to get a yellow via love tap to the shin on Wilfried? No doubt!

Which of these combos is best?
1) Salah, Dilva, Kun & Mitro (doesn’t requires any transfers!)
2) Mane, Fraser, Kane & Kun (leaves me 0.1 short of getting Mendy straight back)
3) Salah, Maddison, Kane & Mitro (leaves me no City cover at all)
Thanks.
eresh12
Hey banjo. i would go for option 2. city v lfc are cracking games although we are not in the best-attacking form yet. id hold onto your liverpool cover and keep an eye on the midweek game.
Smash
I prefer 1 long term. It’s just this week
constantine
1 for me banjo
banjomaker
Are you ‘1 voters’ planning on not bringing Kane in then?
Smash
I’m so torn. His fixture this week is so good. I don’t think so though he’s still not really scoring in open play unless it’s a header. Kane also has a tricky run of fixtures coming up. Points hit to bring him in and then out again for one game.
Zed Leppelin
Kane also trolled me a lot last year (even before the ankle injury)! Although then he scored those two hat tricks… But then failed in the double where loads had him as TC (I didn’t)… Last season I had him because the season before that he was amazing especially towards the end, but I don’t know, he’s not been as awesome as he was 2 to 3 seasons ago and with such a heavy price tag I ain’t interested until he really shows signs of some exceptional form! Of course if Kun gets injured then it’s a pretty straightforward swap!
constantine
Already have him Banjo. But, as Smash mentioned, I might bring Salah back after next GW. Rest would depend on th situations then
Zed Leppelin
1 for now because it doesn’t require any transfers!
Not planning on getting Kane in!
The B
I like 2. You will have more captain options, and Salah looks done and dusted. I might be wrong, but youll still have Mane for cover, who is a decent option.
Smash
So who is not bringing Kane in?
eresh12
i think i have to see the barca game first and then assess. at the moment it is no.
on a side note, would be nice if the site had an extension where we could create a comment into a mini poll .
Brookyboy
I’m gonna chuck a bit of a grenade in here.I was at the game yesterday and Kane and Spurs werent actually that great. In fact for big periods of the game we outplayed them but they just had that extra bit of quality.Kane scored from a free header in front of goal and a penalty that never was.I spoke to a couple of Spurs fans after the game and even they said he still looks knackered.Saying that i’d love him for the Cardiff game as he is the standout captain option but not sure i’d want him longer term.
Brookyboy
Just to add aswell, the pundits on motd remarked he is back to his best.He isn’t !
Smash
Thanks Brooky. I don’t think he’s recovered from that injury last year still. He’s slower and hesitating. He’s great at pens and great in the air which are all skills where the ankle is not really needed
Brookyboy
He does look better than he did.I’d say rather than being a yard short he is probably half a yard short now.Spurs also badly missed Eriksen pulling the strings in midfield.
eresh12
cheers brooky. that is very helpful. whats your potential transfer plans for next week if you have any?
Brookyboy
Not sure yet mate. Will wait till after the European games.Might even save my transfer.
Kralin
That comment – your having seen the game – is worth more than a thousand stats. Incredibly helpful – thanks.
Zed Leppelin
Cold data versus warm humanly experience +1
Brookyboy
No worries.I think part of the problem as i said is that Spurs arent playing that well either. The Barca game midweek will be very interesting.
Zed Leppelin
True, Barca aren’t playing very well at the moment either, 2 draws and 1 loss after that win against PSV Eindhoven in La Liga!
Cimon
Brookyboy Brighton have a good run of fixtures now. Is knockaert worth bringing in. Looking for a Pedro replacement
Brookyboy
Could be.He’s playing wel,is a nice differential and Brighton do have nice fixtures.Whats the rest of your team ?
Zed Leppelin
I am probably not bringing him in just because he scored 2 goals, I was not planning on getting him in as he’s too expensive and probably will not do it now either, would destroy my team, the only easy swap would be from Kun, and I’ll do it if Kun is injured or something, but no doing anything after the CL games!
eresh12
+1.
eresh12
these are the latest comments from pep and i can see some may be tempted to pull the kun to kane trigger.
“Sergio Aguero could miss Manchester City’s game with Liverpool next Sunday.
Aguero was substituted after scoring in the 2-0 win over Brighton yesterday and manager Pep Guardiola confirmed his star man has been hampered for several weeks.
“Sergio is struggling a bit with some problems in his foot,” the Catalan said. “He’s not 100 per cent. He’s not recovered from what happened against Newcastle.
“We spoke about playing 55-60 minutes and we were lucky that he scored a goal in the right moment.
“We are controlling, fighting but he needs time. Now we have two games left before the international break.
“Hopefully he can do these two games and make a final recovery but he’s not in his best condition right now physically because he has a problem with his heel.”
Zed Leppelin
Yep, we will have to play the waiting game now!
eresh12
indeed mate.
IvanTheTerrible
I bet Kun will miraculously recover and appear on Tuesday at Hoffenheim.
Smash
Yeah Jesus has gone completely off the boil. Whenever he comes on City stop scoring
eresh12
so mendy has ankle issues and aguero has foot issues. is that correct?
DMC
No, Mendy has party issues and Kun has foot and heel issues. Maybe.
IvanTheTerrible
Haha, so true DMC. Mendy is busy with everything else but football. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/09/28/pep-guardiola-rebukes-benjamin-mendy-turns-injury-treatment/
Zed Leppelin
“I have no problem [with Mendy going to London]. Boxing is so important in England. In Spain, nobody cares.”
Haha, I’m loving this! Same in Finland, no one cares about boxing!! I don’t care about boxing! I think I’m selling Mendy! This line of thought makes any sense? 😆
IvanTheTerrible
Let’s face it ZL. Everything around the game nowadays is getting like a circus. Take the latest FIFA f up. Giving the Puskas award to Salah for some ridiculously average goal against Everton over the likes of Ronaldo, Bale, Pavard and other much better ones :noshake:
beno1234
I know this is super early guys but I feel I need to start thinking about this weeks moves…
Might as well hold on to Mendy now…
But problem areas I am seeing are Mane and DSilva?
Any ideas where to go?
2FT and 0.7
The B
If you want to hold on to Mendy, then I have following 3 suggestions.
1. Wilson > Arnie could be a decent move. Arnie is in form, and WH have amazing fixtures
2. Doherty is proving to be more valuable than Bennet, and next 3 fixtures are very good.
3. Hart > Patricio. Burnley has City and Chelsea in next 3. With a FT to spare, this is a perfect time to change the goalie.
beno1234
What would you do if I was to get rid of Mendy?
1. I will see what Wilson does against palace. But good shout
2.bennett has brought me in decent points and I wonder if the 0.7 is better used elsewhere?
3. I was thinking of keeping hart for Cardiff and Huddersfield?
eresh12
beno id keep hart for the next 2 games.id keep mendy and worry about him in GW 9. i think you can do wilson to arnie first
EBC
1FT, 0.8ITB
Any ideas?
southernvn
Stephens to Lennon and replace for Robertson.
EBC
Not sure about that idea to be honest. Fixtures are pretty rough after this week.
southernvn
I think Robertson is not good for GW8.
Lennon is very good at GW8.
Maybe, Stephens to Lennon or Huges.
EBC
Agreed but don’t want to bring someone in for 1 week only.
Any thoughts on Knockoert?
southernvn
Stephens 4.5+0.8=5.3, not enough to get Knockoert.
DMC
Wally -> Madison or roll it.
EBC
Maddison is quite tempting. Sort of wishing I went Maddison in for Salah this week instead of Bennett in for Mendy.
Might roll it for now and bring him in from GW10.
Any thoughts on Milner?
inittowinit
Reliant on set-pieces / pens, which actually probably isn’t the worst attribute in a team that usually scores a lot of goals. Second they bring in points for backward passes though I’ll be all over him
EBC
Looking at fixtures, I fancy a punt on Knockoert.
Decent form and great fixtures.
And above all it means bye bye Ralls
What do you think?
Cimon
Knockaert is on my radar. Has decent underlying stats for his price with improving fixtures.
southernvn
How should I do with David Silva? Keep or transfer him?
Hennessey & Wan-Bissaka or Patrico & Doherty for GW8.
inittowinit
I’d probably sell him for someone cheaper with more guaranteed minutes such as Maddison with a view to getting Arnie in for Wilson at some point.
Cimon
That’s the thing with man city mids. Rotation and the points are getting shared around. I own him and plan to stick with him until de bruyne’s return
RedKev
Hi people! Terrible gw so far for me and lots of red arrows
40 points with Robertson to come in for 2 and Hart and Zaha to play!
Got about 10 different drafts atm but not too sure what to aim for! If I swapped Mendy for Bennet I could do moves such as:
Kun to Kane, Mane to Sterling, Moura to Son, or Zaha to Laca with a couple of moves …what do you all think I should do?
Cheers
inittowinit
How many FT’s and what’s ITB Kev?
RedKev
Hi Innit how’s your gw so far? 0.2itb and 1FT. No hits so far! Was just gonna rotate Zaha and Arnie dependant on fixtures but a few letting the team down makes me think might have to change tactics!?
inittowinit
Very average so far Kev, but c’est la vie! Nothing fundamentally wrong there I don’t think. Your list simply reads like a wish list of chasing points that happened yesterday, if I’m being honest. The Zaha to Arnie one was what I was thinking also when I first looked at your team.
RedKev
Cheers Innit, stick to my original plan then yeah!? Could do Mendy to Trippier but would likely only be for 1 game and would need Mendy to drop 0.2 to get back!? Moura …Mane …should I be concerned you think?
inittowinit
I’d move Moura on at some point but perhaps just not quite yet.
Cimon
I don’t think your team looks bad at all. Bad weeks happen. You could even roll the transfer and take 2 transfers into the international break
