Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 7

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 7. Your last chance for some FPL points before we go off again on another pointless international break and all your star players get to globe trot like carbon emissions are a thing of the past. GW7 spans just Saturday and Sunday this time and we begin with Spurs on the road (that’s good Spurs then) as they go to Huddersfield at lunchtime. We then have five 3pm kick-offs. None of which look particularly exciting if we are being totally honest! Man United hosting Palace may be for those who captained Lukaku, but then again who didn’t! Hence the lack of excitement…

The best game on Saturday (in theory) is being kept back until the evening and sees the current champs Chelsea host the probable next ones Man City. Or so it seems. You could probably have said the same this time last season. And been proven very wrong. Which makes it just the more intriguing this time.

Sunday is a veritable feast, at least compared to last week! Arsenal host Brighton in the early game, Koeman will hope that Niasse can keep him in a job a week longer in the 2.15pm one and then we round the week off with Liverpool going to Newcastle and the TV companies flogging the possibility of another 4-3 classic. Monkeys and typewriters and all that…

Hi all. Not a bad weekend for me, still around 71k, but red arrows so fell down a few places. I know it’s early days with the IB, but what jumps out at you to fix in this squad? I want to get Kane or Kun in, but shifting to a second premium striker up front requires major surgery. I could lose Eriksen or Mkhi as makeweights (Firmino is the man to go up front) but my replacement midfielder will be in the Fellaini/Mooy/Doucoure price range and it feels like I’m leaving the midfield a bit light. My defence is quite pricey but that can’t be fixed without WC (e.g. bin Hegazi for a 4.0m, Kola > Monreal, perhaps even Alonso > Azpi). Thoughts? WC seems overkill but I’m not happy with a few members of the squad and the lack of City/Chelsea/Kane.

I’d be happy enough with a slightly lighter mid if it means Kane coming in.

Not so sure it needs a WC. All those proposed like for like changes make sense but only if it meant significant upgrades elsewhere and I’m not sure they would.

If you can get Kane by simply downsizing Mikhi a bit then that’s what I’d do.

I had a similar dilemma and just went for it with a lightweight(ish) midfield and I’m now sitting around 222 in this league and doing well in my others. My midfield has Silva and Erikssen as the two big names, then I took a punt on Richarlyson who has done okay and another couple of cheapos. That’s left me with enough for Kane, Lukaku and (when my next transfer goes ahead) Morata or Jesus. I also think expensive defenders are a waste – too many lower priced ones doing a good job!

Thanks fellas. I’ll have a tinker, particularly once the next fixtures article comes out. Glad it’s not just me who thinks a WC isn’t needed!

      Colriles says:

Hey Pip, agree no need to WC. Defense looks expensive to me and if you can downgrade there to upgrade to a ‘big 3’ upfront I think that’s the way to go. I’ve gone with DDG, Davies, Mee & Cedric at the back to get Kane, Lukaku & Morata up top and been pretty successful. And the day I can pick the right captain….watch out!

      The B says:

Id want to bring in Kane somehow. Currently he is the only healthy striker in premier league who knows how to finish clinically.

Im afraid that money will have to come from the defence. You need 2 big hitters in midfield, Eriksen + Silva/Salah is the template at the moment.

You can downgrade Mkhi to the max, but that wont be sustainable for a lot of GWs.

But if you just have 1 FT, Id do Mkhi > Silva/Sterling and sit tight without Kane, hoping that Erik does the business.

Anyone else think replacing chouphu moting with fellaini is a decent shout, given they play Liverpool and are bound to have some set pieces during the game?

Or is that too much a case of chasing last week’s points?

    inittowinit says:

Quick sense check. I can’t really WC this lot can I? It’s not ideal but it’s not worthy of a WC is it? Or is it? Initial plans were Lukaku and Ritchie to Morata and Silva but that’s all a bit on the shelf now.

Similar position to me but you have a much better rank. Think it’s better to hold off at this stage as your not going to make that many changes

      SAFs_hairdryer says:

I wouldn’t say you ‘need’ to wildcard but i don’t see it as so important to hang on to it this season with the Free Hit and second WC covering the DGW etc. You could use it now to build team value

      • inittowinit says:

It’s exclusive of those I feel SAFs. Both are second half plays. Last reason I’d play it for would be to build TV. Building a better team / squad is priority no.1.

        • SAFs_hairdryer says:

I do tend to use mine early in the season and whilst it’s not explicitly to build TV I find that’s a nice bonus that comes in to play later in the season. If it gains you a point or 2 a week from having a better squad it adds up

    SAFs_hairdryer says:

Hi all, so I held out for the international break to use my WC and get Kane. Lost a lot of points in the process but I guess we’ll see how that turned out.

    Any thoughts on the below?

    Evening All

I appreciate a lot could change over the IB but what should I be looking to do with this lot? Initial thoughts is that I should be looking to get in Kane.

Your feedback or any suggestions would be appreciated.

    P.S 1 FT & £1m ITB

Ok all if Morata out are we thinking of keeping Luk or gambling on the Bat 😉
