Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 9

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 9. And so we go again, for about 4 weeks anyway, before the next absolutely essential international break interrupts us all once more. You can probably guess that we rather side with Jurgen Klopp and his view that ‘the Nations Cup is the most senseless competition in the world of football’. Let’s just hope that none, or at least not many, of your precious FPL assets came to any harm in their pursuit of the ‘glory’ of a few Nations Cup points this past week or so.

Back we are though and we start with a cracker as Jose goes back to The Bridge on Saturday lunchtime, an occasion which is always notable, but probably more so when he’s so under the cosh, not to mention scrutiny. Expect to see buses in their droves.

We then get stuck into a bumper 3pm selection with 6 games to feast upon. Which usually means a compromise of paucity over the rest of the weekend but more on that later! An in form (ish) Bournemouth host ‘neighbours’ and terminally out of form Southampton, Cardiff struggle on towards the inevitable as they host Mitro and co, Man City hope to strut on towards their own inevitability against whichever version of Burnley show up, Newcastle host former boss Chris Hughton and his Brighton side, West Ham prepare for the next Cup Final against Spurs and Wolves and Watford face each other in a clash of the early form setters.

Those who sold Salah and co will then be spending Saturday evening behind the couch as Liverpool visit free falling Huddersfield in the late game.

The weekend then limps to a conclusion as Sunday sees just the one game with Everton hosting Crystal Palace before we conclude with Leicester going to Arsenal on Monday.

  1. Averages with 1 game left:

  2. Big shout out to my main man Swirly, he’s having a tough time in FPL but his tips are solid, our keeper let you down but 9 points for Begovic and 12 for Pickford; solid picks my friend!

    • I was just about to post something around the GK tips

      • Haha great minds mate! It’s never easy hanging yourself out there to get shot down, credit where credit is due!

        • Exactly Rosco. Especially when you are trying to think outside the box as well

    • Pickford finally repays the faith I’ve had in him! Well, it’s more like I haven’t played my WC yet so he’s stayed smile
On 55 with Maddison to play. Stay quiet Lacazette. Stay quiet…

    • I’m absolutely sure Sagar will be on quick as a flash to apologise to Swirly. Because that’s how these trolling things work right? Right?!

      • Yeah though to be fair to Sagar he did praise the other tips. But yeah you are putting your neck out

      • I’m sure Init. All the trolls love to own up to mistakes. It’s probably because the internet is so personal :winktongue:

        • Just does my head in when you see stupid throwaway comments like that is all! It’s a horrible twitter trait and why I dislike that platform so much.

The guys just spent who knows how hours of his own unpaid time researching the hell out of everything to produce a fantastic article and the 3rd comment is that shit? Do me a favour.

        • Oh yeah I agree. Weren’t defending it at all. Just wanted to point out he weren’t as bad as some of the Twitter stuff as said some positive stuff.

        • Agreed Init! So easy to just sit back and criticize someone else’s writing while never writing anything of your own. In the states we call it b I got “an armchair quarterback”. Not sure if that translates well. Backseat driver also applies…

        • Cheers, Init. Really appreciate those words. As you say, it’s very easy to just make flippant comments but they’re very rare anyway, thankfully. This place is full of great people smile

        • No probs Swirly. I know from experience how much work goes into producing a single article so I’ll always defend you guys to the hilt regardless, whilst I’ll also happily call you out when I disagree (see the Site Team article this week ref Matt and Leicester!) but that’s always done tongue in cheek.

I’m a big fan of ‘constructive criticism’ and I think it’s helpful when used in the right way by both parties. This lacked the first of the two words though and hence it annoyed me. More credit to you for not responding to it in the first place, I would have, but then having met you I know you’re a much nicer person than I am!

It’s very out of kilter with the usual vibe of our lovely community too.

        • Most people are Cookie, thankfully!

        • Init, when I started doing the MLS articles four years ago there were quite a few sad elements around to criticize every suggestion if it doesn’t materialize in their favour. They would pick on anything they could possibly find.I was getting stressed but the more experienced ones advised me not to give a s*it and ignore them.
I am sure Swirly knows it.

        • It is true mate, and we probably wouldn’t have FF247 if it wasn’t!

        • Uh oh, I better restart my article if Twitter has become taboo laugh

        • Hardly taboo, the opposite in fact!

        • Yeah, you were a bit thin skinned at the start Ivan, but then again we knew bugger all about MLS then, as said above it’s how it was said that was annoying. You certainly know your stuff now amigo. And we can agree to disagree about stuff in a friendly way.

    • Pickford on for max BPS so 15pts! Even better! Not that I have him mind!

      • Haha, cheers guys <3

The nightmare that is this season continues for me, looks like I'm doing to about 1.6 million as a rank now. Genuinely can't remember the last time I did so badly. Plenty of time for it to pick up and hopefully finish in the top 100k at least! At least Pickford and Begovic didn't let me down, even if they weren't actually in my team!

        • Yeah keep it up. I remember last season having a shocking start around one million for a while. Had my defensive curse when all my defenders got injured every week. Finished inside 50k. It can change quickly

        • Cheers Smash, that’s definitely encouraging to hear smile

    • + 1 well said pancho. always love the tips that swirly has provided and he has helped me out last year when i won my ML. hope you have better GWs coming up mate

      • Cheers, bud – that’s very kind of you to say. Glad to see you’re having a better campaign!

        • its been a decent campaign swirly. less hits but silly mistakes with changing the captain last minute, wasting an additional transfer to bring aguero and bemching doherty twice when he had 2 good previous GWs

    • Pity the poor guy who has to follow that …..

  3. 39 points..Bad bad week. Don’t want to have another less than 50 GW. At least that’s the plan. But, can’t see great things happening tomorrow as well. Only Vardy can save me..

    • I’m at 36 with Maddison left :p

      • Many scores in 30s this week. Shows how bad it’s coming out to be. Let’s hope for the best for tomorrow.

        • 28 for me, with no players left to play! #oops

        • That’s a bummer swirls. One of my ML rivals has 6 players scoring just 1 point. Shows how bad this week is for some. There’s always a next week though.

        • It can only get better laugh

  4. Is Rosco here? What do you think of Joselu? Is it OK to have him instead of having someone like Neves in the team? More importantly, do you see him starting few games in future? Thanks mate.

    • I very much dislike both options Constantine

      • I also hear Rosco is a massive fan

      • Can’t seem to fit Salah without getting Joselu Smash. Or I’ll have to take a hit by removing Vardy as well. Current plan is Kane+ Neves –> Salah +Joselu. Neves is just producing 1s and 2s with a very less probability of scoring/assisting. Joselu might have more. The hit option could be Kane+Vardy+Neves –> Salah+ Mitrovic + Arnie.

    • He’s utter dog sh@t, probably one of the worst strikers I’ve ever seen at Newcastle and I’ve seen a lot!
He’s not first choice ( thank god) and I’m constantly amazed that he’s even a professional footballer that we actually paid money for!! Don’t go there!!

      • Haha. OK Rosco. That’s put very clearly. Very well noted. Won’t get him then. Need to think of other options now.

      • Like I said a massive fan lol

    • I’d rather have Success and save a few quid if you’re desperate

  5. So I did wildcard this week and I’m on 28 points at the moment. With Vardy to play.
Promised myself to keep things tight this year, not to take any hits, be patient… It’s not paying off at all. How frustrating this game can be!

    • Just one of those weeks, your side looks good, stay calm and they’ll come good!!

    • Frenchie, you are on 35 at the moment mate. 6 points coming from Kun as a captain and 1 from Brooks. I am 2 points behind you in our H2H match. All will be decided tomorrow by Vardy for you and Maddison for me 😉

    • Just keep calm and stay patient mate!! It happens! Don’t make transfers according to one week’s points!!!

      • You can’t stop the mad herd Zed. Martial and Pereira are already hot properties. They’ve decided that they will score again next week 😆

        • Only one hit for me thus far this season… Even I’m a bit surprised! But I’m doing quite well too 😉 smile 😉 smile

  6. Is it safe to wait till Wednesday for Salah in case he got injured, is it unlikely that he may go up in price in next few days?
