Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Silly Gameweek 26
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Silly Gameweek 26. Only in England could we have a ‘Winter Break’ in which all teams still play and yet is punctuated (somewhat) with FA Cup replays for four of them. We say good on Klopp for showing them the finger and highlighting the absurdity of it all. Politics aside, GW26 will be held over two weekends, beginning today on the 8th Feb and concluding a week on Monday, the 17th.
There’s an unequal split too, with four games this weekend and six on the next. It makes for an uncertain and very long GW but it is what it is. To make it even more odd we don’t have a single 3pm Saturday game on either weekend. Why? TV, that’s why. They’ve seen the opportunity and taken it; every single game is now scheduled in a TV slot.
We shall stop ranting though and let you crack on with enjoying the longest of long GW’s…
The games in full…

Hope lunds has a stroke tonight the troll
4pts from 7 players, including bench and hit.
What was already a very weird and long gameweek, got weirder.
Should have copied the site teambad luck but a hell of a long way to go this GW. This time next week it’ll still be happening.I’m not Eresh.
shame you followed Rosco’s moves this week… ouch
I didn’t.
My attempts at humour today are backfiring spectacularly.
22 from 4 when Lundstram comes in for one of my City players. Soy will be my other sub to come in.
Net 14 (18-4) from 3 including Rico off the bench.
20 from 4…Soyboy and Dendo to come in for Aguero and KDB. Could be worse. Armband on Salah.
This week is going to get interesting.
20 from 2 with the 2 leics boys to come on for the City guys. Soy sauce and Madders step up to the plate now lads :bravo:
Forgive my ignorance, but is it a given that the MCI-WHU game will not be taking place this gameweek?
Given the last game is on 17th of Feb., I’d like to think there’s still the option of another game – although admittedly unlikely
Very surprised if it is. Both clubs now officially on their winter break.
But weren’t Liverpool,.Spurs and Southampton on their official winter break when they had to play their cup replays?
True Padster, good point.
That was a bit of a farce from the start though with the Premier League and the FA not properly working together. Although I’m sure clubs were aware at the start of the season that replays would need to take place this past week if required whereas this postponement couldn’t have been planned for.
Nobody really knows yet. It is certainly feasible that it could be, albeit it’s deemed unlikely, but that may depend on City’s view as they now have two games which need rearranging and a third is a distinct possibility. And they’re running out of available dates to play them.
We could do with a loud tick-tock sound on the site, or an image of an hourglass rapidly emptying.
This when will Man City play all their games is taking on more drama than the league itself.
Plus of course if they do play people cursing Lunders being left on the bench, etc etc.
Well the only good thing for me was i played him.
I threw him over – came close to another Blade but decided not to pile more BGW rubble on my team.
I tend to adopt a strict don’t look back attitude when I move players on. It’s almost inevitable that they’ll do well, just as the side left behind on wildcarding always performs better than the new one (or it seems that way).
Right! And the Pep roulette, etc etc. Perhaps a separate league for Manchester based teams would be an option, then the PL can continue in due orderly course :wink2:
Contrary to your ‘don’t look back’ approach, I tend to take a ‘Look back in Anger’, style attitude – inspired by J Osbourne and the angry young men, every FPL failure (or success) becomes a veritable kitchen sink drama!
As in this week, where I placed Lord Lundstram on the bench ((3 place, so he’s highly unlikely to replace anyone!), put in Fleck & Holgate, as well as including my 2 City boys KDB and Cap’n Kun, just to provide a bit of non-existant suspense. Might go off to the boozer, and then upend a tea-tray upon my return! Bye for now!
Well, I nearly trashed the kettle once when I cruelly missed out on a CS bonus. Cheers and have a good day.
Maybe in a few years’ time – this is assuming the Man City game will happen this GW (I know it probably won’t) – we may hear about the holidays the players missed and how completely pissed off they were about that. Perhaps Kun will be bitter about missing out on an out-of-season Clacton-on-Sea ( good offers at this time of year he will lament, I’d’ve got seven days for the price of five, plus a free bingo.)
Though, to be fair, I’m sure there are cheaper and more practical ways for Kun to get his hair dyed :mosking:
Apparently Kun’s experiments with more natural hair dyes, particularly of the everyday beverage variety, have led to some awkward moments in the team tub after a game – players have been coming out complaining that they reek of coffee.
Nevermind, I thought it was a sunny, fancy getaway place… g’night, I’ll let myself out
haha! :laugh2:
Oops – should read ‘3rd place’ (on bench).
Well, I didn’t watch nor follow any game so far this week, and just checking now it seems to have been eventful!!
Not that surprised the Lord scores when I just ditched him, and KDB being a coward in front of storm Ciara. Another rubbish gameweek in progress
Also may I say I captained Aubameyang again instead of Salah. Just not being rational anymore I guess!
The weird focus of all things now – given we have a gap until next Friday – is on how and when City can play all their fixtures before the end of the season. The further they progress in the FA Cup the more farcical it’s going to be.
Auba is a brave shout.
Any guesses as to which gw Citeh v Wham will go?
My guess is that they declare forfeit for all their accumulated late PL matches, give the trophy to Jurgen and the boys, and consecrate all their efforts on bringing home the Carabao Cup!
AJW :big-lol:
There’s been a bit of speculation about GW29 possibly but it’s all conjecture at this stage. I have no idea but I daresay we’ll find out soon enough. If it is 29 then taking 2FT into that GW would be wise. Ederson steps out of the shadows. But maybe it won’t be 29. I like the idea of a TGW, I don’t think there’s been one during my time in playing this game.
According to Ben Crellin, it might even be Triple GW for City in Week 37.

Which means, knowing Pep, he will bench Aguero and bring him on as super sub in two of the 3 GW and leave him out of the squad in the other making us :dash:
Assuming City go far in the FA cup, they may have 4 games to slot in. One can go midweek GW34 and triple GW37 is a possibility, but then there’s still one more. I think PL would quite like City to be accommodating and get knocked out of the cup soon!
Oops did my comment come out as flippant? Thanks Bees!
If EUFA are willing and MNC lose to RM it could go to GW35 or 36
Not this weekend
Bah humbug! Maddison and Williams (Man U) to replace KDB and Sergio then – and not my 3rd replacement, Lundstram!!!!
There’s still chance that Williams will be benched again.
Next midweek is still conceivable.
Would be a bit unexciting, but would no doubt be a relief for some.
Yeah that’s the date when it could easily be. Have to admit I’d prefer it to be off
Not sure which I’d prefer right now. If it’s on it makes Kun (C) very risky, which it wasn’t particularly yesterday. If it’s off I just fall back in line the Salah captainers, which is now safer.
Mane is back in training for you anyway, just in case you hadn’t heard.
Having not got Kun, I’m kind of hope that West Ham make some lame excuse about washing their hair that night in the hope the fixture is rearranged near the end of the season when either Man City don’t care as they have CL qualification done or that they’ve been completed flogged to fit the fixtures in and that it’s part of a epic quintuple game week for Man City.
I just prefer the idea of chaos as I still have a wildcard with my rank
One way or another, I hope they announce soon – I need to know whether or not to cheer on my subs this weekend!
That’s certainly one good way of looking at it!
Yes maybe lay down an ultimatum that they play it by next week or risk relegation! Bit of old-fashioned discipline wouldn’t do them any harm would it now?
Steady on old chap. Play the game or be forced to dig a new canal between Stratford, London and Eastlands, Manchester – with their bare hands.
There’s an argument somewhere that all sport is intrinsically fascistic.
There’s only really Weds 19th available and would EUFA be happy with that coinciding with TOtT CL game?
Anyway, I believe both teams have to agree if it falls on a CL week and WHM may choose that they have an easier schedule to rearrange
Probably not but they’ve done it before for someone, maybe Arsenal but I can’t remember exactly.
Having the game next Wednesday would be a fitting coda to a pretty weird GW.
Like many here I’m ambivalent about it – I was half-hoping the game would go ahead yesterday in utterly terrible conditions – but Man City seem to be running out of time to play their games and it does seem logical to squeeze it in then. But maybe WHU won’t be so keen and would prefer this very tricky tie kicked down the road for now.
Man City played a (suprise) DGW v Middlesboro and Stoke during a champions league week GW27, 2017, Not sure if it’s been done since!
I vaguely remember Stoke holding them 0-0 in the second game, which caused mass despondency for some and not a little joy for those who’d invested in the very cheap goalkeeper Stoke had (I think Butland (whatever happened to him*?) was injured).
* still at Stoke, very loyally and good for him.
