PRE-SEASON HUB 2020/21

Introduction

Gone are the days of Premier League teams jetting off to China, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia for their pre-season preparations – at least for this pre-season. Here’s hoping things in the world are again on the right side of normal this time next season and I for one will never again take the Premier League Asia Trophy for granted.

In this shortened period between the 2019-20 season ending and the 2020-21 season beginning (consider that Manchester United & Manchester City players will not even be through passport control with their families as they head on holiday whilst Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham commence a stretch of their legs with their first pre-season matches), I will again document the ins and outs and ups and downs of all 20 Premier League teams pre-season on this article as we hurtle towards the new season.

Below is a guide to the matches CONFIRMED so far – there will be more. For instance, as you’ll see, there are clubs who have not yet announced any matches. Seeing as all games will be behind closed doors anyway, I would expect the clubs to be transparent about their matches, not least to let their own supporters know what’s going on and I’ll be there to take advantage.

As is the norm – if you feel comfortable in doing so – please record any and all pre-season news here under the relevant team comment. I’ll round up each day with anything missed relating to line-ups, goals, assists, injuries, playing positions etc.

You’ll find a comment relating to each of the 20 teams below.

      Smash says:

Both great options. Kane is one million more so it’s not a fair comparison. Spurs are less likely to smash teams for me but Kane is always going to score fairly consistently and you kind of pay the extra for that. He does though for whatever reason take a while to get going. Chelsea with that attack should score a lot of goals with Werner expected to be the one to get them. Has a fantastic record in Germany but we don’t know how he will settle which is why he’s less money

      • GentleBenAKA says:

I’d agree with everything Smash says. Werner is an unknown. He could tear teams apart, he could be another Premier league dud. Kane is cheaper than before so could offer some value if you’re willing to hold for a while – he is consistent. Given that Spurs start to the season is relatively easy, I’d probably go for Kane rather than punt on Werner.

        • AmateurOpinions says:

Finding it very difficult to choose. The Kane of the last two seasons looks to offer not the greatest value for money on ppg/ppm but then the 3 seasons previous he was crucial. My gut tells me he’s got something to prove this season with other emerging English talent. His pace is still a huge question, and as said Spurs are unlikely to dismantle teams.

      Kralin says:

Werner for starters I think though Kane is in my thoughts.

His price is handy in that I’ll be able to get Kane if necessary / drop down to Ings or Jiminez if they’re looking hot. Or Werner may be fine as he is.

I think he’s currently the striker with the highest ownership so not the worst to start with.

      • AmateurOpinions says:

Would Martial not be another consideration though? With 17 goals in his first proper season playing through the middle, that number will surely only go up and he looks fairly nailed to start almost every week. At 9 million too?

        • Smash says:

I must admit I like Martial as an option. Problem is I prefer Bruno as he’s clearly the main man even for the extra cash. Other issue I have for Martial is will he score enough goals for now being classified for a striker. He did the business second half of the season for sure can he maintain it. Flip side which I must admit I am interested in will having Martial and Greenwood cover for that anyway

        • AmateurOpinions says:

Is having both in your side to reliant on Man U results, or will over the course of a season it even out? I love Bruno because of the way he ghosts into advanced positions and looks like he’s going to get the final touch/pass. Plus he’s obviously on set pieces… I’m struggling not to try and get all three BF/MG/AM in because they look like they offer value for money?

        • AmateurOpinions says:

Having said that latest draft has Werner up front. Tempted to take the (-4) with the aubs/son, KDB/BF transfer early to avoid embarrassment with price rises, as mentioned a few days ago.

        • Smash says:

Yeah all three is too much but all good options

      I currently have both 😀

    Thoughts on this?

Will do Auba to Bruno after 2 weeks!

      AmateurOpinions says:

Love Richarlison, although will be interesting as he’s now a striker. That teams is going to score goals!
I just think City are going to be gunning for the league next season and KDB missing is going to be a hole. But is it possible to get KDB/MS/BF into the same team? Probably not.

    Hey Guys,

Back for a new season of fantasy footy smile How much of a headache is the first set of fixtures with missing the Manchester games! I suppose it is 2020. What are your plans for transfers around that? It’s a pity Free Hit is not available

Hey guys, what are the best punts for 2 4m defenders and a 4.5m midfielder, I’m scraping the barrel here, in order to maximise the value of my main players. Thanks guys. :scratch_one-s_head:

      Smash says:

Prob Mitchell and Ferguson to start the season. The West Ham lad maybe. As for mid I think record signing Anguissa at Fulham if he stays or one of the Brighton lads Stephens or Bissoma but not sure If. nailed

      Special Agent Dale Cooper says:

Nathan Ferguson at palace and Johnson at west ham are generally considered the most likely 4 mil def this year.

The mids at 4.5 seem like pick any, perhpas stay away from the higher owned ones, as prices might fall if they are sold in mass.
