Fantasy Football Press Conference and Team News GW1
Welcome to Fantasy Football Press Conference and Team News GW1. Sometimes change is needed and not because you want to make it, simply because the current situation becomes untenable. This is the case for Predicted Line-ups. We know the line-ups themselves were a popular addition but in all honesty it was stretching us to a limit on a Friday. It also meant many key personnel hiding behind a computer screen for hours on end on the busiest day of the week trying to figure out such useful things as how Huddersfield would line up. Time best spent? We think not too. We’d much rather they be out and about getting involved in the chat and helping in that way.
Facts and figures wise we stacked up as we were 76.3% accurate overall last season, which is ahead of the industry average of 64.1%. Even so, do the math, it’s still hardly worth hanging your hat on…
However we did still want to get the team news out in some fashion. So what we are hoping to do is cover all the pressers on the boards, be it us or any site member who wants to jump in and lend a helping hand. Snippets, quotes, pictures and tweets all can be included. Now, this is not set in stone, this is what we are going to try to begin with, but we will adjust the format where we see fit and as long as it is something we are able to cover. We don’t mind any suggestions, in fact we welcome them, put them out there, could be that your idea is something we can do and works well for site members.
There will be a Hot Topic set up for all 10 games each week. The aim is much like what we do with the pre-season stuff; click on that Topic and it will take you to that particular thread. And then post away. The result will be that anyone can come on site, wanting to know the ‘Team News’ for a particular game and it will be a click away.
Let’s see how it works anyway…
As for the games themselves let’s get over to GW1;
The almost champions Liverpool get the Premier League started when they face off vs that bird that Suarez loved to munch on, the Canaries. That Friday night fixture is followed by six Saturday match-ups. City gets the Hammers for lunch, be the hammer not the nail, be the hammer not the nail. Well expect this hammer to get his arse kicked by the nail. That bit of carpentry sees four 3pm kick-offs follow right after. And it is a who’s who of…eh, well just 8 teams who could be anywhere from really bad to ok. Bournemouth takes on Sheffield U’s, Burnley battles with Southampton to a boring draw, Palace tangle with an Everton who may have to outscore everyone to win and Watford vs the supposedly more attacking Seagulls. The late game sees Harry Kane score a hatty vs Aston Villa.
Sunday brings us our last three fixtures. An intriguing battle between Foxes and Wolves with many interested FPL owners watching closely. Simultaneously, we have another interesting game when the ever frugal Toon, battle the fake frugal Arsenal. The game-week is closed out by ‘buy anyone who will come here’ Man United vs ‘can’t buy anyone’ Chelsea.

Spurs vs Aston Villa TEAM NEWS

Smith on squad selection for Tottenham, “When I name the team tomorrow, there will be 11 happy faces. The rest won’t be”.
Smith says that everyone worked really hard in preseason and he congratulates them for that. (I’m not sure if they get any points for that!)
James Chester is the only absentee for the game with Smith confirming that the club captain will be out until the end of August.

add to that Sessegnon out with hammy, but Dier and Wanyama have returned to full training with the squad.

Rodgers on fitness/injuries:
“Wilfred Ndidi and Filip Benković have been working very well since coming back. Wilf’s naturally fit and will be in the squad this weekend. All the players have come through really well and there’s no real injuries.”
Really not much else from Brendan, but as a filler let us get an oldie but goodie from Rodgers.
“I started coaching for one reason and that was to make a difference for people, not just as footballers but as human beings.” :slaphead:
**Wolves Team News**
Nuno confirmed that Adama Traore didn’t travel to Armenia due to issues with his passport.
On Cutrone, Nuno says he is integrating well into the squad. It doesn’t sound like he’ll be ready to start for a few weeks, “Every new player who comes to our team needs time. We have to keep on going. He has been received well into the group and it’s important that he continues to improve.”

Bruce on fitness/injuries:
“Yedlin has not fully recovered from an op. Krafth brings us that experience and know-how as any team needs. He is a fully-fledged Sweden international.”
Atsu, Lejeune, Colback all are likely out while Matt Ritchie could be in contention, but it wasn’t even a full week ago that this was said: “It’s not looking good. It’s a hamstring. We’ve scanned it – we don’t think it’s too serious. It’ll be a big shout to be ready for next week.” so I probably avoid him for now.
Bruce on Andy:
“He was in first this morning. “He is already running. “When the club sold him he was the best pound for pound center-forward.” Already running? FFS, he is not even going to make it to Sunday is he?
The new gaffer is stepping down and getting Rafa to come back 😉
“I want to give the fans a team they can be proud of and can associate with.”

45 million budget team fitness/injuries….
Man United vs Chelsea TEAM NEWS
Not so much team news, but if Lukaku leaves today surely rashford is worth a punt?
Or Greenwood??
**Manchester United Team News**
Ole on fitness/injuries:
”Paul joined in, actually, the day after [the AC Milan match]. I wasn’t going to risk him, travelling down with the flight, but he joined in the game against Blackburn the day after, behind closed doors here. He is available. All of the boys are fit. It was always our aim to get to the starting line with as many players as fit as possible. Of course, Eric’s (Bailly) injury is bad news but the rest of them are available.“ also expect Fosu-Mensah to miss this weekend and Alexis Sanchez is likely short on fitness with Ole adding this about the Chilean “Alexis has come in and trained well,” said Solskjaer. “Of course, he’s four or five weeks behind the boys and he’s not played apart from a one behind-closed-doors [friendly] here, so I think he’ll see this as an opportunity, as well, to make his mark.”
If anyone was wondering about Harry Maguire, Ole said “Yeah, Harry is ready to play.”
Solskjaer on Rashford and Martial replacing Lukaku’s goals: “Rom is one of the top 9s around when you want to play with that kind of striker, but I’m confident we’ll get goals from Martial and Rashford. We have a very different attacking setup this season.”
also this on Greenwood: “Mason is going to be playing and involved a lot and when he is he’s going to score goals.”
**Chelsea Team News**
Frank on fitness/injuries:
“We have Kante fit as in he’s fit – is he match-fit is a question I will have to decide. Willian is working to be fit, it’s probably come slightly too soon for him. Possibly Rudiger the same but he has been training with us for a few days.”
Odoi, Reece James, Loftus-Cheek and Van Ginkel are all out.
Lampard on helping Arsenal by selling them Luiz:
‘You can’t dictate too much what happens at times. The decision was that he moves on to Arsenal and I focus on here. Yes he is a good player.’ Fat Frank is being nice, he knows he just sent ‘errors leading to goals’ over to the Gunners.
“Errors leading to goals” – hmmm, he will be a match made in heaven at Arsenal 😆
I think this is a great idea lads and should almost certainly free up so much time for those behind the scenes.
I like it. :good:
great idea guys :good:
