Lampard on Burnley. It’s a tough place to go. They have a strong way of playing, they are well drilled. They can give you big problems. It is a tough match. You have to respect the teams you play, it will be a physical battle. They have been good. I have watched a lot of their games. They are scoring goals. They had a tough time at the early stages of last season, they have always been a difficult game”.
  • On injury news Lampard “Loftus-Cheek is well out, Rudiger and N’Golo not ready for the weekend. We need to get him right now. Christensen and Barkley are both out as well”. Further on Rudiger the boss said “Rudiger had a bad injury, this is a fall-out of last season, that is the nature of it. We need to remember that, but he is close”.
  • Pulisic is pushing for a start after some impressive performances off the bench. Lampard “I think the way he has played it is brilliant that he has made those impacts. Everton

Last Updated: Thursday 24th October

  • Silva on Yerry Mina; “Not so good, not so good at the moment. Let’s see how he is tomorrow and on the match day as well. He’s not seriously injured but he is not ready to work with the team in a full session.” Should Mina miss out Mason Holgate is expected to deputise.
  • Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin are back in full training and are available for the game.
  • Silva on selection: “It was a good week, good competition between them. It’s up to me on Saturday. Normally I have one plan, we are working on that plan. We have 48 hours until the game and the things are clear in my mind.” Barring injuries, surely he sticks with the same XI?!!

Leicester City

Last Updated: Friday 25th October

  • Ox is pushing to start. Klopp on Oxlade-Chamberlain: “No selection headache. Good game from good players gave me headaches, my life would be sad. Big impact at United and Genk that is how a player should act. No secret how much I like him. It’s about being ready for specific moments. Goals, incredible!”.
  • Klopp also spoke on his options in midfield. Klopp: “There are plenty of reasons for why I make decisions. It was great to see [the subs] make that impact at Man Utd. Hendo and Gini are obviously two players who play most, it was clear they could use a break. Now we will see how we line up against Spurs.” Klopp: “A lot of subs have had an impact for us and that is great for us. I was pleased for Adam and he was so close to start at Genk. We respect all these signs of course. If you show up in a game then you are in a different part of a manager’s brain.”

Manchester City

Last Updated: Friday 25th October

  • Rodri will be missing as he went off with a hamstring in the week. Pep “After the international break maybe he will be ready”.
  • Could John Stones return to the city line up. Pep “It’s not about the first choice, it’s about being fit. He has had many injuries that’s why he couldn’t play. When he came back last season Vinny and Laporte were in great form”. Otamendi is also fit to return but will he be selected. Guardiola on playing Rodri/Fernandinho at centre-half again in midweek: “Tactical decision. We had to play against Atalanta, we needed the specific qualities that they had.” Not exactly a massive vote in confidence to Stones and Otamendi.
  • Raheem Sterling scored a hat trick in mid week leaving Pep impressed. “ I didn’t help anything. All the credit is for him. We were there, we talk as a group. The quality is for everyone as a group, but the credit is for him and the rest of the players”. Always we dream of players getting better. The player have this willing to do it, so it is possible”.

They will in turn be hoping to lift themselves out of the relegation zone with a win. Steve Bruce joking on Wolves having a Europa League hangover: “Let’s hope they’re really tired, bruised and battered and the plane’s delayed five hours but I think they’re a very, very good side but if they are a bit fatigued, hopefully we can take advantage of it.”
  • Steve Bruce says that Andy Carroll (groin) and Fabian Schär’s (knee) injuries are not serious but the pair will not be fit for Sunday. Bruce on Schar: “Fab has a bit of a sore knee that he’s been playing with for a few weeks”. Steve Bruce insists Andy Carroll injury is “not serious” and striker could be back in contention for West Ham away.

  • Martin Dubravka has been a bit under fire this season but he has just signed a new deal. Bruce “He’s a very, very good goalkeeper. We’ve unearthed one, because not a lot of people had heard of him.“We’re delighted that he’s tied himself to the club.”

If we work together, it will be difficult for the opponent to get anything at our stadium.”
  • On team news it’s the same as last week for Saints. Hasenhüttl; “I’m sorry to say but it’s still the same. We cannot count on Moussa (Djenepo) or Cédric or (Will) Smallbone. Moussa is back on the pitch but for a game it’s too early. I see the light at the end of the tunnel, so I hope in one or two weeks we can count on him again.”
  • On Danny Ings RH is really impressed. “A good pre-season and the last few weeks has helped him massively. Confidence is high with the goals and you can feel in every session he has a lot of confidence in front of goal and scores in every position. This is a result of very hard work and changing a few habits – taking less touches, running more from deep and coming into positions to score. We showed him things he can do better and he is doing it and maybe it helps him score more now.”

Sterling of KDB cappo??? I have it on KDB but see alot of people on Sterling……panic stations ahoy

      theswirly says:

KDB is owned by 37.8%, whilst Sterling is owned by 38.2% and so there’s nothing in it there. As for records against Villa, Sterling has two goals and three assists from nine, whilst KDB has nothing but that’s only from one game. Then there’s the fact 41 of KDB’s 66 points have been at home, whilst 11 of Sterling’s 53 have been at the same place. And then there’s Pep’s rotation which no one can accurately predict. Follow your gut, essentially!
