Fantasy Premier League – International Round-Up

[/three_fourth]Hello you global fantasy managers out there, how happy and enthusiastic about national team footy are you all? A lot, I rather watch Andorra vs Latvia ahead of any EPL game any day of the week, I hear? Bored off, I hear? Absolutely annoyed by it really, I hear? Well, well, surely we all like to see our country battle against other nations but maybe they should only do it after our dear FPL season is over and not just after it began! F**! Just now that we got some momentum going, and by momentum I mean FA’s impressive streak of disciplinary action, they just had to bottle it all and hijack all our best assets making them travel around the world instead of letting them rest nice and easy in each one’s club camp!
Well, the fact is that there’s no way around it and if that’s that then we might as well know at least the extension of the damage they inflicted to our goods and that’s what this article is about: bring to us all some light about what have FPL players been doing these past two weeks, which in case of Wilshere has nothing international about it, except for the American whiskey he’s been drinking down on the south coast, home of his new club AFC Bournemouth.
On this article we aim to update you on how the most important FPL players fared (if at all) for their national countries enabling a better assessment of their condition ahead of GW4.
Of course we couldn’t cover all Premier League international players so we opted for a mixed criteria that combines belonging to the top 10 on Ownership (TSB%), Total points (Total Pts), Form or Price for each position. If a players meets more than one criteria he’ll only be mentioned one time and for the first met criteria on that order. “NA” means either that the player wasn’t called by his home country (Barkley, for instance) or that his country only played one game in this international break (England, for example). “0m”, on the other hand, means that a player indeed travelled with the team, but did not feature (only three players had 0m in both games and they are all keepers – namely Adrián, Stekelenburg and Mignolet).
We also highlighted other player’s performances that we thought were worth a mention albeit not meeting the criteria such as Mandanda, Silva, Eriksen, Snodgrass and Tadic. That should cover most of many a managers concern over their team. If not, however, please use the commentary box if you are looking for any specific player info. We won’t go all the way to new boys Kosovo for that, but we’ll give it our best.
Finally, there’s a Highlight table in the end that, regarding popular FPL players, enhances the best performers and the biggest underachievers.
Bear in mind that for injuries and player’s general availability info you need to check back on Friday for Cookie’s invaluable Around the Grounds article as any update we could give you on that wouldn’t be accurate.
Here follows how your internationalbreaked players fared:

Good stuff DMC, comforts me a little seeing Sanchez and Ozil’s stats. Silva always kills it on the international stage.
Interesting to see Lukaku scoring two, I think Henry will prove invaluable to improving his game. Anyone considering getting him in off the back of this, or safer to stick with Costa and use Barkley for Everton cover?
Cheers AT – one thing about IB stats is that you always need to assess different factors like the opposition, if it’s away or at home, if the player had to travel a lot and the goals themselves.
In this case, the opposition was weak, but is was away from home and the goals, granted they were easy movements on the ball, showed that he was at the right place at the right time and that’s basically all we want from strikers like young Romelu. So, yeah, I would get him over Barkley if it’s a straight comparison and no other pressing issues.
Thanks for the amazing articles DMC and Init!
Would you guys take a look at my WC teams and let me know what’s best?
This is team 1 with 0.3 ITB. Aguero plan is to take a -4 hit and transfer Lamela + Defoe + Costa to Aguero + 6m MF and Stuani
Sorry the above is team 2. 0 ITB and Aguero plan is Payet + Lamela + Costa for a hit to Antonio + X + Aguero
This is team 1. 0.3 ITB and Aguero plan is Defoe + Lamela + Costa for a hit to Stuani + 6m MF + Aguero
This is team 3, 0.3 ITB. I like this as it gives me Everton cover unlike the first 2 teams.
Unorthodox as I’m playing 3-5-2 instead of the usual 3-4-3 but given the abundance of midfielders around the 7m range today, I see not a lot of difference between a 4.6 Capoue and a 4.6 Diomande as a placeholder.
Aguero plan is to free up 3m somehow for his return. Or hope he’s injured forever
Anyone?
Neo
Have to say I like it. I’m probably not overly convinced by Walker being worth 5.6, would probably prefer Shaw or Valencia despite the fixtures – its a Mourinho team. Few doubts in midfield – will Antonio continue to play there (worth the risk) and even Lamela (equally worth the risk).
Anyone going with Ozil as cappo?
Anyone bringing in payet?
Anyone taking a -8?
Feghouli at 5.4 for me. Payet is not worth 9.4. Way overpriced.
Would have but Hazard at Swansea is too good to turn down
Feghouli won’t play and I’m not convinced Payet is worth 9.5 as he plays for West Ham. Ozil as captain maybe though not sure him or Sanchez. -8 has crossed my mind but don’t think I have the balls
Smash – what did the -8 involve?
my gut is telling me to get in payet!
Mitro – West Ham have no proven strikers and Payet hasnt got the mins in. See DMC’s analysis above
I have Aguero, Mahrez and Lamela who I would replace. Would be looking at Lukaku, Sanchez and either Ozil or Payet. I will probably do 2 of them. I can’t decide on Sanchez or Ozil
And I have Gray who I’m happy with but worried about getting banned
Dreamers – appreciate he only played some of the game midweek but he still created 13 chances!
13? Jesus
It’s more that West Ham have looked poor for me not Payet’s ability
Mitro, Dreamers, Smash, a bit late to get into this discussion but still in time, I hope, to recommend you to take the 2 minutes and watch France’s highlights against Byelorussia.
Again, weak opposition, but away from home and just that little bit of luck that wasn’t present in this game. Otherwise, Payet would have had a few assists here, granted some would be from set pieces, which is one of his best characteristics. I genuinely believe he got a bit affected by that Ronaldo incident on the Euro Cup final (which Portugal won!! uuuoohhh :)) but the signs are that he’s coming back.
In the end, it serves us better that he hasn’t had full 90 minutes in any of the games. He’ll be focused for FPL and sooner rather than later he’ll be up there showing why he’s worth 9.5, or more.
Good article, thank you
My pleasure swampster. Cheers mate.
I have 1FT and 0m, someone tell me what to do!!
I was thinking Aguero and Firmino for Costa and Sterling? (-4)
Those moves sound good to me mate.
I want to go kun > defoe but I’m too puss. I’ll probably end up getting Costa.
Cheers DMC, some great info here mate.
Cheers Kop.
