FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW16

Welcome to the FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW16. Following consecutive red arrows in GWs 13 & 14 we managed to claw our way back up the ranks with a final score of 68 in GW15. This comfortably beat the average of 45 and saw us climb back up to 36,483, our best rank of the season so far.

With our defence and keeper returning just 3pts between them we were largely indebted to Captain Kane and Private Fraser who contributed 12pts each (doubled for Kane) with Richarlison not far behind with 10pts. Further solid performances from Jimenez, Sane and a late Salah assist managed to largely negate Arnie’s 0pts!

Happy with our progress we march on confidently into GW16, but now in search of an Arnie replacement, and with our wildcard still to be used. Could this finally be the week….

The wildcard lives on, burning a hole in our pockets while at the same time we have taken a hit to remove Salah! There’s logic there somewhere.

Arnie’s (latest) injury and free scoring Arsenal’s fixtures were the caveat for such an extraordinary course of action. Sterling coming in is hardly a bad option, especially as he had a good rest in midweek. Arsenal’s current run of form along with their imminent fixture schedule focuses the mind on them really and hence we made one of their forwards a priority to replace Arnie. We could have simply taken Wilson in but his fixtures turn south whilst Salah’s form is not explosive enough to justify either his price tag or his place instead of Sterling in our team any longer. And so it’s another week and another City mid added, feels like we shall keep on doing this until we have them all!

In truth we would probably have preferred Aubayemang to Lacazette but funds dictated otherwise and with Lacazette likely to return the starting line-up we’re comfortable with the Frenchman. (That could come back to bite us, as could Salah of course c’est la vie).

And so to confirm we have… SOLD SALAH & ARNIE AND BOUGHT STERLING & LACAZETTE

Straight in the team and awarded the armband. Giving a Frenchman this sort of responsibility may be considered reckless, nay insane. But with the Gooners at home to Huddersfield, what could possibly go wrong? Just in case Monsieur Lacazette runs away never to be seen again, Kane is our vice.

  2. Morning folks. Been super busy at work and missed most of this week’s chat. What are people’s thoughts on Kane’s gametime this weekend? Could he be rested for Europe?

    I have him as captain atm, but worried it may be a sub cameo. Other captain contenders are Sterling, Hazard or Siggy.

    Is Kane a big risk as captain?

    • I wouldn’t have thought so. He always seems as nailed as anyone can be. And I think he has a good scoring record versus Leicester.

      Other candidates are good, I’d have Sterling next off the rank.

      Going for new signing Lacazette myself.

        I currently have Kane capo and Sterling vice. Think I will leave it like that and not overthink it.

    Apologised for repeating the same question but do you think the following is a good move: (I want Lacazette)

    Salah and Jimenez to sane and Lacazette (-4)

    • mitro its a good move but sane may/may not start.id do it anyway as you have a really good bench mate.

      • I think I’d be concerned about this. I’ve brought him in on my wildcard, but I fully expect him to be benched! Your bench doesn’t really offer a two point replacement though!

    • I’d keep Salah for Bournemouth. The latter are not backward in coming forward and I’d be surprised if Salah didn’t have a few chances today on the counter-attack.

    • Those are great moves long term but perhaps for this week not, I’d do it for free next week!

      • + 1. that works too. @zed – you going double wolves today? i got ederson and patricio and feel both wont keep a CS. i kept the gk as ederson. should i replace with patricio? does your spider senses tell you wolves will get a CS ?

        • Yeah I’m going for the double wolves but really just out of necessity, if I had Ederson I’d probably play him instead, annoyingly Patricio hasn’t got many saves this season…

        • I want to change Patricio to Fabianski next week but so many things can happen with CL, will wait until those games are over!

  4. Anyone going without ARS attacker Laca/Auba?

    • I daren’t!

    • No, but I expect many in my ML won’t have either. Yours too. It’s always quite a funny end of the week. All this plotting and planning on here then back to the reality of mini-leagues.

      Actually, now you mention it, someone in my ML has had (with some success) Auba for a while. As a consequence, I haven’t been able to quite shake them off yet.

        • You would indeed. It might seem obvious, but just to make sure, you get triple the base number of points your captain gets, as opposed to triple the double points you usually get!

    • Looks fine, though I have no idea how nailed Lingard is. Martial would be the one I’d go for. However maybe play Lingard ahead of Mitrovic. And Yoshida ahead of W-B.

      You could rip off Inittowinit’s plan of picking Chic this week then switching to Mitro next week (or just keeping the Chic).

      And having Chic goes well with your name.
