Welcome to the FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW20. The trouble with a wildcard team is often not who you bought; rather who you didn’t. There’s always those regrets, swept aside on to the floor of the ‘drawing-board’ room. Not so much the ones who catch your eye when you walk around afterwards wistfully kicking up the dust, seeing names like Wilson, Alli or Aubameyang peek through the remnants, more the ones like Felipe Anderson and Hazard, who still seem to sparkle through it, almost winking at you in mock disgust of what could have been that week. But alas, we couldn’t have everyone we wanted. If we did we’d have had a midfield of epic proportions… but the last time we checked 1-8-1 wasn’t a valid formation.

All this isn’t to say we had a bad WC week, on the contrary, we managed a very respectable 75 points, which could have easily been 84 or indeed 90, with either a bit more luck or better team / substitute selections! Our highlights; TAA got us 11 points via a clean sheet, an assist and 2 bonus points, Son got us 13 with 2 goals and a bonus point and Kane got us a goal. Our captain Salah got us a goal , an assist and a bonus point, which we were particularly happy with, especially having debated late on whether or not to listen to some twitter rumours that he may be benched, but suffice to say we decided against it. The rest simply graced us with appearance points, more or less, apart from Martial who went AWOL completely. That’s the one which probably p*ssed us off more than anything, as Felipe was in his spot originally…

Worry not though, that’s why we have a bench. Now then, usually the man rushing off said bench, like some superhero with a clean sheet on his back and a customary 2 bonus points under his arm, is Wan-B. And indeed he was, as if on cue. We normally rush to greet Wan-B like some long lost friend but this week we’d have happily elbowed him in the ribs and then stamped on him in order to welcome the little weakling bringing up the rear behind him; for that was Lucas Digne, weighed down with 17 points. No wonder he was flagging.

All in all our 75 points saw us 16 points above the average with a jump in rank of 5k to 79,735th overall.

Last weeks result in full…

This weeks transfer decision(s) – SAVE
We’ll admit that we may have laboured the intro a bit there, but that’s perhaps because there’s not a fat lot to tell you in the transfer section; as we aren’t making one. We can tell you that there was a huge debate over who starts up front for Man United this week. We can tell you that said debate spanned no less than 4 hours. We can tell you said debate involved 4 grown men who were supposed to be off work spending time with their families, and that 2 of them aren’t even Man United fans. And that by the end of it none of them were any the wiser!

Our Captain is Mo Salah
Perhaps somewhat more interestingly our captain vote was fairly unanimous. As was Son for our vice captaincy. Be it Salah’s return to form, or Arsenal’s return to defensive shakiness, we can but hope some combo of the two meet up this week for our captain.

Our team in full…

  1. this is my current team as it is with no transfers done. 1ft and 0.2itb. was looking at ways to get salah in tonight and would require killing off both city assets. sterling to salah and sane to anderson. would you guys do it or should i wait after the city game to get salah in and keep my team as is for gw19? appreciate all suggestions and recommendations

    • Hi eresh, my exact dilemma and thinking of the same two transfers so yeah be interested to see what the consensus is.

      • hey innit. hope you are well mate. hows the recovery going? i think i replied to one of your posts yesterday recommending the same moves i am doing but then noticed you will have double west ham. i guess its good short term but id imagine you would have to use another transfer to take 1 out once their easy game periods end. i also thought you could do with pereyra and salah but not sure how you feel about the former’s scoring form.

        • I saw it mate but it was too late to reply really, but yeah that’s where the idea spawned from. The double up isn’t ideal and is the only thing putting me off it really but if I can plot a way away from Snoddy in a week or so then it’s a goer. Will look properly later.

        • cool init. if you did go with those 2 moves, maybe snodgrass to brooks is an option once bournemouth finishes their tough run of fixtures or solly march from brighton. think they are under 5.4 and could be a good 5th mid.

      • For what it’s worth I have done those moves in a roundabout way over the past few weeks

    • Well if helps I am doing it! Did Sterling to Pogba and I’m doing Sane to Salah tonight. I expect city to punish me but not owning Salah has really damaged my rank so it’s a punishment I’m happy to take! Backwards to go forwards and all that!

      • hey rosco. that sound promising and i may swing towards that. think i can bring pogba but would be minus 8 and i dont fancy that. would be something like bellerin to dunk/other 4.5 def, sane to pogba and sterling to salah. id guess you would say a big no to that move.

i think tomorrows game for pool could be weird. could go either way. a liverpool hammering or arsenal stealing the win and their defence will keep salah quiet. personally would be good to win 3-0 at home.

      • Not really, you’ve been as bad as me lately! smile #stupidCity etc

        • So true! Reassuring to know I’m not the only douchebag 😉

        • Just extremely unfortunate timing. We both chose to jump on City big time just as they decided to go from world beating invincibles to average Joes. And Salah picked his stick up from nowhere and ran amok with it. Just one of them things mate, it happens, relax. Half a season left yet. And the juicy half too.

    • I’m bringing Salah in tonight. No idea how yet.

    • I’d probably go for it. Reluctantly…

City will punish almost everybody on FF247 if they return to form; you won’t suffer alone.

      • hey jamesimmo. i wont be surprised if that happens should i go with bringing salah in. i took out salah gw16 in favour of city, been punished these last 4 gws without him. have a feeling i bring him in now, city will go back to being super threatening against southampton scoring 4-0. atm i am split but not planning to do the transfers. it may change 2-3 hours later lol.

    • Cant you do Bellerin to Bednarek Sterling to Salah ??

      • Yeah I like that

      • hey brooky..just saw this. really good suggestion but i am 0.1 short sad. probably if i did it before salahs price rise, i would have made it.

  2. Is there any news on Martial playing?

    • He’s trained so guess he plays. As has Sanchez and Lukaku

    • I’ve not seen anything but then again not given twitter more than a cursory glance today. And it was lucky it got that smile

  3. Hey guys, am I good to go here or should I change something? I’ve already taken a hit.

    • More than good to go I reckon.

    • That’s a strong looking team.

    • That’s a cracking team. Good luck

    • Great team

      • Thanks guys, the problem is it looks good every week but I don’t seem to be making much progress. Good luck everyone.

  4. Evening all, I’m planning on WCing from this

    • Well you have to wildcard so get it activated

    • To this.
My main concern being I’ve left enough ITB to do Hazard>Salah but don’t know if I should switch now I’m on the WC or wait 2 GW’s to get Hazard’s good fixtures and miss Salah’s tough ones.
Would anyone suggest any other changes? I’m not sure if Alonso is proving good value right now.
      Many thanks

      • Personally I’d be sticking Kane, Son, Salah and Hazard in there and working backwards from that. Alonso can go for starters in terms of finding funds.

        • You’re right, I think I’ve overlooked Son.

        • You can also downgrade Ederson to Fab, as everybody doess.
But then, to extend for Salah (which I would do to), you will have to go further. I would do Ings–>Kamara, and Silva to Lingard. Then this would allow for Pogba to Salah, I guess…

        • Shit, but Son would not be there then!

  5. Hi all.

    1FT
    Lacazette to Vardy?
    Sterling to Hazard?

Both for a hit? Sterling’s price drop and Hazard’s rise will be a £0.2m swing, but think Sterling might deserve one more week until Hazard comes in.

    TIA

    • Second for sure. First I’m not sure. Reckon you can do more damage (good) to your mids with a deeper cut up top perhaps? Got your team pic handy?

      • Interesting. I was more set on the other move! I see your point though, I just don’t think the strikers have much value at all. Ings maybe, but then I think Rashford will become him in a week or two!

    • Meant to post it!

      • Does Sane to Pogba/Martial work as the enabling move?

        • I don’t need to enable mate. Pogba is tempting though.

        • I think just do Sterling to Hazard, I don’t think you need to take a hit.

        • Thanks. Both of you agree, so think I’ll go for that one. Just worried laca won’t start!

      • Laca has been performing off the bench anyway. I’d give it one more week and change him next week for no hit if needed.

  6. Prob been asked alot and I guess its a hard one to answer but who do people favour as a captain between Salah, kane or son?

    • Out of those 3 I’d go for Salah. Wolves don’t conceed many.

    • Flip of a coin between Salah and Kane for me.
