Welcome to the FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW20. The trouble with a wildcard team is often not who you bought; rather who you didn’t. There’s always those regrets, swept aside on to the floor of the ‘drawing-board’ room. Not so much the ones who catch your eye when you walk around afterwards wistfully kicking up the dust, seeing names like Wilson, Alli or Aubameyang peek through the remnants, more the ones like Felipe Anderson and Hazard, who still seem to sparkle through it, almost winking at you in mock disgust of what could have been that week. But alas, we couldn’t have everyone we wanted. If we did we’d have had a midfield of epic proportions… but the last time we checked 1-8-1 wasn’t a valid formation.

All this isn’t to say we had a bad WC week, on the contrary, we managed a very respectable 75 points, which could have easily been 84 or indeed 90, with either a bit more luck or better team / substitute selections! Our highlights; TAA got us 11 points via a clean sheet, an assist and 2 bonus points, Son got us 13 with 2 goals and a bonus point and Kane got us a goal. Our captain Salah got us a goal , an assist and a bonus point, which we were particularly happy with, especially having debated late on whether or not to listen to some twitter rumours that he may be benched, but suffice to say we decided against it. The rest simply graced us with appearance points, more or less, apart from Martial who went AWOL completely. That’s the one which probably p*ssed us off more than anything, as Felipe was in his spot originally…

Worry not though, that’s why we have a bench. Now then, usually the man rushing off said bench, like some superhero with a clean sheet on his back and a customary 2 bonus points under his arm, is Wan-B. And indeed he was, as if on cue. We normally rush to greet Wan-B like some long lost friend but this week we’d have happily elbowed him in the ribs and then stamped on him in order to welcome the little weakling bringing up the rear behind him; for that was Lucas Digne, weighed down with 17 points. No wonder he was flagging.

All in all our 75 points saw us 16 points above the average with a jump in rank of 5k to 79,735th overall.

Last weeks result in full…

This weeks transfer decision(s) – SAVE
We’ll admit that we may have laboured the intro a bit there, but that’s perhaps because there’s not a fat lot to tell you in the transfer section; as we aren’t making one. We can tell you that there was a huge debate over who starts up front for Man United this week. We can tell you that said debate spanned no less than 4 hours. We can tell you said debate involved 4 grown men who were supposed to be off work spending time with their families, and that 2 of them aren’t even Man United fans. And that by the end of it none of them were any the wiser!

Our Captain is Mo Salah
Perhaps somewhat more interestingly our captain vote was fairly unanimous. As was Son for our vice captaincy. Be it Salah’s return to form, or Arsenal’s return to defensive shakiness, we can but hope some combo of the two meet up this week for our captain.

  1. Ok so do I captain kane as most of my ML rivals have him and will most likely captain him. I have Salah but none of them do yet so my logic is that if kane scores heavy and I don’t have him as captain then they could gain ground on me yet if Salah outscores kane then I’ll be frustrated but it won’t hurt me. Is that good logic or not?

    • If you’re leading your ML Majeika, then you roll with safety and put the armband on Kane.. you’ll still get Salah’s points and cover theirs.. if they try to get cute to gain ground on you and Kane goes off then you’re in an even better position.

  2. Welcome back Mo I’ve missed you more than you’ll ever know! Just the armband, Wilson V Kam and Doherty V Dunk left to decide!

    • Hey Rosco.. I like Wilson and Doherty on the pitch always.. Both opportunists from attacking sides. Cappo I would lean towards Pogba or Kane.. I think both of those games will be wide open..

    • Lack of City there looks worrying mate, maybe Martial to Sane?

    • got almost a similar back 3 roscoe – doherty, shaw and robbo with bellerin and wb on bench.id go wilson and doherty mate. leave the squad as is and enjoy

    • Both Kane and Salah are outstanding captain choices this week. I imagine Kane will be the most popular, but plenty will put it on Salah as well.

      What a bland comment.

  3. Good evening folks.. I think I’m losing my mind down here in Florida.. On a wildcard.. have Pogba and Jimenez in at the moment… or do I…….——>

    • I’d probably stick with Pog and Jimenez. Both more likely to play and Pog has a better potential points haul than the other options you have.

    • I’d kill Auba and get Hazard myself higha.

    • Cheers SAFs and Initt.. I have toyed with Hazard in the squad. might just stick as I feel i”m overthinking things at the moment.. I mean, it is dark out and I’m a few glasses in.

      • I’d have Hazard in on a WC right now. I watched their game the other night and he felt like the only player capable of scoring in the whole match. And he did. Twice.

        • + 1 you spoke my mind innit. None of the other Chelsea players impressed me in the last game.it was a pure hazard.

  4. MBEs for Harry Kane and Gareth McAuley?! Am I missing something?

  5. who would u play in the 11 this week? billing or kamara?

    • I would go for Kamara.

      • I’d back Kamara too.

        • cheers jamie. see my reasoning below if i shouldnt go with kamara. do you think hes still the go to guy even if he comes off the bench? i saw he started the wolves game so not sure he starts this one.

        • Well, if it’s a 2- or 3-point player that you want in your XI this weekend, then Billing’s your go-to. I just reckon that Kamara’s got a slightly higher ceiling. Both aren’t likely to return much.

        • + 1

      • cheers brenda. we know billing always starts. lets say Worst Case Scenario kamara is benched, do u still see him outscore billing this week? they both face each other. it could be a boring 0-0 to either a 1-0 or 1-1/2-1. was wondering should i go with my gut or just do kamara for the sake of it?

  6. Double price rises from Son and Pogba were just what I needed. They’ve made Wildcarding late feel slightly more satisfying; it’s a shame that neither have made my final squad.

    • So did you just bank the price rises then swap them out?
