Welcome to the FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW20. The trouble with a wildcard team is often not who you bought; rather who you didn’t. There’s always those regrets, swept aside on to the floor of the ‘drawing-board’ room. Not so much the ones who catch your eye when you walk around afterwards wistfully kicking up the dust, seeing names like Wilson, Alli or Aubameyang peek through the remnants, more the ones like Felipe Anderson and Hazard, who still seem to sparkle through it, almost winking at you in mock disgust of what could have been that week. But alas, we couldn’t have everyone we wanted. If we did we’d have had a midfield of epic proportions… but the last time we checked 1-8-1 wasn’t a valid formation.

All this isn’t to say we had a bad WC week, on the contrary, we managed a very respectable 75 points, which could have easily been 84 or indeed 90, with either a bit more luck or better team / substitute selections! Our highlights; TAA got us 11 points via a clean sheet, an assist and 2 bonus points, Son got us 13 with 2 goals and a bonus point and Kane got us a goal. Our captain Salah got us a goal , an assist and a bonus point, which we were particularly happy with, especially having debated late on whether or not to listen to some twitter rumours that he may be benched, but suffice to say we decided against it. The rest simply graced us with appearance points, more or less, apart from Martial who went AWOL completely. That’s the one which probably p*ssed us off more than anything, as Felipe was in his spot originally…

Worry not though, that’s why we have a bench. Now then, usually the man rushing off said bench, like some superhero with a clean sheet on his back and a customary 2 bonus points under his arm, is Wan-B. And indeed he was, as if on cue. We normally rush to greet Wan-B like some long lost friend but this week we’d have happily elbowed him in the ribs and then stamped on him in order to welcome the little weakling bringing up the rear behind him; for that was Lucas Digne, weighed down with 17 points. No wonder he was flagging.

All in all our 75 points saw us 16 points above the average with a jump in rank of 5k to 79,735th overall.

Last weeks result in full…

This weeks transfer decision(s) – SAVE
We’ll admit that we may have laboured the intro a bit there, but that’s perhaps because there’s not a fat lot to tell you in the transfer section; as we aren’t making one. We can tell you that there was a huge debate over who starts up front for Man United this week. We can tell you that said debate spanned no less than 4 hours. We can tell you said debate involved 4 grown men who were supposed to be off work spending time with their families, and that 2 of them aren’t even Man United fans. And that by the end of it none of them were any the wiser!

Our Captain is Mo Salah
Perhaps somewhat more interestingly our captain vote was fairly unanimous. As was Son for our vice captaincy. Be it Salah’s return to form, or Arsenal’s return to defensive shakiness, we can but hope some combo of the two meet up this week for our captain.

Our team in full…

Anyone confident Mahrez will start this gameweek?

Morning all. @init – what’s your overall opinion now on digne? Planning to get him on gw22. He has definitely nailed that LB position and posting some good returns. Would you consider him a good 4tn defender to have now for the long term?

I have 2 questions: Please make an educated guess and share the logic. (1) Will Sane start? (2) Will Lingard start?

I have 0 FT and 1.3m ITB – can take a hit (trying to avoid though). I don’t have Haz, Pogba, Son, Rashford, Martial, Shaw, LEI players etc. popular picks in my team which is ideal for red arrow unless Sane+Lingard start and perform.

@Rosco – finally I sold Jimenez and got Kamara to balance out the problem of 8 attackers.. Holding Wilson with the hope that he gets back to form this week itself.

      Kralin says:

The standard version of events suggest both will start: Sané because Mendy is still out; Lingard because er it’s a winning side at the moment…to be frank trying to guess starting line-ups can be a fool’s errand and I’m only doing it this morning because I’m a fool it’s still Xmas just about…best not to overthink it, we know the risks with City (and United, to a certain extent, with Lukaku, Sanchez, Mata, Martial all in the background).

Anyway the first question I’d ask you is what do you think, and what’s your logic?

      • GoalMachine says:

        (1) CITY: My logic is that Sterling does not perform well against big teams traditionally and against his old club, I am not sure how he will do. In last occasion, he was not great. Thus against Liverpool PEP can rest Sterling and play Sane-Aguero-Bilva up top, with KDB-Gundo-Dilva in the midfield.Sterling comes in as super-sub. If that is the case, Sterling and Mahrez starts vs SOU this week in 2 flanks and Sane gets the rest. Kun and Dilva will start as they need more minutes. Either of KDB and Bilva get partial rest and 1 defender might get some rest.

        (2) UTD: Lingard has always been a low-profile player in UTD ranks. If someone has a reduced minutes due to Martial and Lukaku return (none of them are injured like Sanchez) – its Lingard and Mata. With current form Rashford will continue and shifts to wing. Sanchez might get few minutes off the bench – but not a start.

        • Kralin says:

I’d like to give that post a sustained and thunderously disciplined round of applause.

A lot of people will find that very useful to ponder.

        • Smash says:

I think they both get rotated but that’s a guess

        • GoalMachine says:

Yes, we can only guess. But PEP is in trouble after losing couple of games – he can’t afford any more loss….and out of all near games, the POOL game is the must-win by all means (so expecting the strongest team that PEP thinks) – otherwise title is out of reach.

      • GoalMachine says:

@Kralin, my plan is to get Haz. This week I have to take 8 PH to do Sane+Alonso > Haz+someone. Next week I can do it with 4PH, but I am sure with my luck, some other issue will come up (Lingard’s gametime can be one of that). Is there any other way to fit Haz (by Gw21)? 0 FT now with 1.3 ITB.
        Fabianski, Patricio
        Alonso, TAA, Digne, Doherty, WanB
        Salah, Sane, Anderson, Lingard, Richarlison
        Kane, Wilson, Kamara

        • Kralin says:

Without spending hours, removing Kane is the cleanest way to do it. A valid strategy this season that I’ve seen is cheap strikers and 5 strong midfielders.

You may be able to get Haz plus a Spurs’ mid.

    Veer says:

Would Filipe Anderson or Pogba/Lingard be a better option? Planning to WC after 2/3 GWs so it’s very short term.

    • 118.1
      GoalMachine says:

Why do you want to use your WC so early? Fix it with hits over next 3-4 GWs. I have Lingard and Anderson both. But with UTD players returning, I doubt whether Lingard will retain his spot consistently and will have reduced minutes. Pogba/Martial is better choice – Pogba will be nailed on for sure as OGS want to build the team around him.

    • 118.2
      Kralin says:

Pog over Anderson but both good picks.

I had an interesting discussion with someone (who finished 800th last year) whose strategy is an early second-half WC, so you’re in good company. He/She just planned carefully for the big DGW. Personally though I save the WC until the big DGW later on. Your team, your choice, there are plenty of ways to play the game.

      Veer says:

Yeah not yet decided on using my WC, will decide based on how my team does in the next few weeks. And thank you guys I did decide to go with Pogba. Now I’m debating if it’s worth a -4 to do Richarlison > Anderson, or should I just let it be for this week?
Also, Hazard or Pogba as captain?

  5. 119
    Smash says:

Ugh back on Salah as captain

    RedKev says:

    Morning everyone!
Who would you all captain out of this lot?
Also, are there any transfer plans I should be looking at? £0itb
    Cheers
