Welcome to the FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW20. The trouble with a wildcard team is often not who you bought; rather who you didn’t. There’s always those regrets, swept aside on to the floor of the ‘drawing-board’ room. Not so much the ones who catch your eye when you walk around afterwards wistfully kicking up the dust, seeing names like Wilson, Alli or Aubameyang peek through the remnants, more the ones like Felipe Anderson and Hazard, who still seem to sparkle through it, almost winking at you in mock disgust of what could have been that week. But alas, we couldn’t have everyone we wanted. If we did we’d have had a midfield of epic proportions… but the last time we checked 1-8-1 wasn’t a valid formation.

All this isn’t to say we had a bad WC week, on the contrary, we managed a very respectable 75 points, which could have easily been 84 or indeed 90, with either a bit more luck or better team / substitute selections! Our highlights; TAA got us 11 points via a clean sheet, an assist and 2 bonus points, Son got us 13 with 2 goals and a bonus point and Kane got us a goal. Our captain Salah got us a goal , an assist and a bonus point, which we were particularly happy with, especially having debated late on whether or not to listen to some twitter rumours that he may be benched, but suffice to say we decided against it. The rest simply graced us with appearance points, more or less, apart from Martial who went AWOL completely. That’s the one which probably p*ssed us off more than anything, as Felipe was in his spot originally…

Worry not though, that’s why we have a bench. Now then, usually the man rushing off said bench, like some superhero with a clean sheet on his back and a customary 2 bonus points under his arm, is Wan-B. And indeed he was, as if on cue. We normally rush to greet Wan-B like some long lost friend but this week we’d have happily elbowed him in the ribs and then stamped on him in order to welcome the little weakling bringing up the rear behind him; for that was Lucas Digne, weighed down with 17 points. No wonder he was flagging.

All in all our 75 points saw us 16 points above the average with a jump in rank of 5k to 79,735th overall.

Last weeks result in full…

This weeks transfer decision(s) – SAVE
We’ll admit that we may have laboured the intro a bit there, but that’s perhaps because there’s not a fat lot to tell you in the transfer section; as we aren’t making one. We can tell you that there was a huge debate over who starts up front for Man United this week. We can tell you that said debate spanned no less than 4 hours. We can tell you said debate involved 4 grown men who were supposed to be off work spending time with their families, and that 2 of them aren’t even Man United fans. And that by the end of it none of them were any the wiser!

Our Captain is Mo Salah
Perhaps somewhat more interestingly our captain vote was fairly unanimous. As was Son for our vice captaincy. Be it Salah’s return to form, or Arsenal’s return to defensive shakiness, we can but hope some combo of the two meet up this week for our captain.

Our team in full…

    Thoughts on my team guys.

Already made a transfer to bring Son in – do I need a -4 to get rid of Chicharito?

Also, what are people’s thoughts on early wildcards? Not necessarily in relation to my team – though I am considering it – but in general?

    Cheers!

Are you ditching the Chic because he’s definitely out?

Early wildcard absolutely not for me. Best to pull that one out of the wardrobe prior to a big DGW. Others may disagree.

      • elcfc says:

Yes I would rather have a fit striker!

Thinking around the wildcard is that in a couple of weeks I am going to need to make a lot of transfers.

I want to double up Liverpool defence, get Jonny for Bennett, Murphy to Gibbs-White to raise funds, Martial out, Son to Hazard, Chicharito to Wilson, then Wolves may even buy a striker to compete with jimenez.

That’s a lot of transfers to make in a very short space of time.

Finished 800th last year overall and made the early wildcard and then just planned ahead for the DGWs. Was hoping to save the wildcard this season but my team is in total free fall, and with all those changes I want to make, I am very tempted!

I’d risk that he plays. You have cover on the bench anyway.

In general I think it’s best to use the 2nd one to plan for a DGW, or an emergency (i.e. you have 4 or 5 problems which at best would mean a few weeks where you’d need a hit).

If he’s confirmed out and you want rid anyway then go for it. If he has a chance of playing or you’d want him back in then hold off. There’s not much in that price range at the moment.

        Thanks for the feedback!

If you see my comment above I have lots of changes in mind, so I am very tempted to go early.

Did last year then planned ahead for DGWs and it worked a treat – maybe I was just lucky though!

I need assistance on my team.

Morning everyone. I hope you’ve all had a nice Christmas. Now we are finally into the 2nd half of the season. I was mulling over a few transfers with a glass (or two!) of mulled wine and this is kind of where I’ve landed. Which do you think I should do?

    A. Sane to Haz = plain and simple

    B. Luiz and Jimenez to Obi-Wan/Zanka and Vardy (-4) = Chelsea aren’t exactly keeping CS points and 3 Wolves is kind of hurting me!

    C. Luiz and Jimenez to Peltier and Laca (-4) = see above

    D. Something I haven’t thought of.

    E. Save transfer and leave it as is

I’m kind of between A and E but B is enticing me. I am unsure if I should do with Sane to Haz just because City play Southampton at the weekend and the Saints aren’t exactly watertight.

Looks like Son will rise 2 days in a row. That’s annoying, was trying to pocket some free cash on my wildcard but not to be – with him not rising on the 26th and being away shortly I didn’t see him going up 0.2 at all.

Fingers crossed Rashford rises again tonight (although not looking likely).

Is Son a necessity for a WC team in peoples opinion….my lot below is with 0.3m ITB

      MattX says:

You’d only have him for 3 games so I wouldn’t be too worried. Maybe bring in Pogba or Mahrez as a placeholder so when Son returns you can make the swap with relative ease?

      Macro says:

      Questioning this myself.
Currently have Salah Haz Richarlison Pogba and Anderson
Not sure who to switch out for Son. Probably will be Pogba, and dropping Ings to Kamara to fund it.
Would mean my front 3 are Kamara, Quaner and Kane.

Really not sure about this. Would like Utd exposure with B’mouth and Newcastle coming. But Son has been on such a brilliant run and does have Wolves and Cardiff coming up.

      TheDreamers says:

I say this without having looked at fixtures. Not sure if Doherty makes a wc team atm given they have only 1 cs in something like 11 games. Son and indeed Anderson prob better option than Richarlison. Given the performance of midfielders , I’d go with a 5 man midfield.

What changes do I need to do?
Ings has tough fixtures. Success isn’t!!! Dunk and Bennett have a tough weekend and few games coming up. Wan-Bis has a few tough ones as well.
Starting to lose faith in Sterling and City as well
    Thoughts please guys.
    Also, captain choice.
