FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW35
Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW35.
It’s all in the math(s).
Like many others we played our wildcard last week and like many others we had an absolute SHOCKER! With no representatives in the Friday night game our game-week kicked off at lunchtime on Saturday. The writing was on the wall when our captain, Son, was benched. A certain member of the management was rather smug about this. Son eventually climbed off of the bench and almost immediately picked up an assist to go with Eriksen’s assist and Loris’ clean sheet. 20pts from our Spurs trio left us feeling good about our wildcard. Little did we know that they would account for approximately 60% of our total score. We were lucky that Messer’s Duffy & Dunk didn’t score minus points as Brighton conceded 5. Matt Doherty also returned zero points. The only other player who delivered for us over the weekend was Mo Salah. Onto Monday night and things got even worse. Fresh from setting light to the Notre Dame cathedral Troy Deeney went and got himself sent off at Arsenal. Our game-week came to a conclusion on Tuesday night as Brighton were beaten 2-0 at home by Cardiff which meant the Double D’s picked up 1pt each over their two games. Losers! We finished the game-week on 33pts and a red arrow of 5k to leave us in 11,785th position. It’s time to dust ourselves down and attack DGW35 with vengeance.
Last weeks disaster in glorious technicolor;
This week’s transfer – we have held our Free Transfer, cancelled Bench Boost and have activated our Triple Captain
Duffy, Dunk, Deeney. That’s our outfield bench for this week’s planned Bench Boost. The original plan was to sell Dunk for a Saint. However, Deeney’s moment of stupidity meant a hit for the Saint and we felt that wasn’t really worth it.
Which would have left us with a bench of Foster/Lloris, Dunk, Duffy & a Deeney replacement (likely Wilson).
It was a long meeting and akin to Brexit we entered it not really knowing where we were going or what we were hoping to achieve.
The DGW maths equation was ‘applied’ but argued over. Were we starting with a base of 14pts (7 matches x 2 appearance points) or were Dunk & Duffy likely to record next to nothing once again? Much really depended on Wilson.
We had one member actively pushing to delay BB (we’ll call him Theresa) another wanting to push the button (we’ll call him Nigel) while the remaining two members were seemingly stuck sat on the fence, chewing the fat, smoking a couple of cigarettes, putting the world to rights, understanding both sides of the argument but ultimately getting nowhere and going round in FPL circles (we’ll call these two the Fencers).
We also had two members (Theresa & Fencer 1) suggesting using TC this week.
Nigel appeared shouting ‘Bench Boost means Bench Boost’ then disappeared.
Like any forward thinking and inspirational Brexit negotiator would do, a compromise was suggested. Fencer 2 (who was loosely advocating delaying BB and using TC in GW36) suggested he would agree to the TC in 35 with a view to a longer delay in BB, possibly until GW38 or whenever a majority vote could be passed.
Saints home to Huddersfield in GW38 does present a potentially better opportunity for BB though we’d need to be lucky with team sheets.
Ultimately we have done what we have done due to the weakness of our outfield bench. We would have been happy to have continued with our plan of Dunk to a Saint but Deeney scuppered that and meant that no real solution is ideal.
We are not advocating not BBing – every team is different and you all have your different aims and mini-league situations.
Our Triple Captain is Aguero
All should be clear from the above. Our sudden liking for Kun comes from City now being 100% focused on the league and the general feeling that they will need to beat both Spurs & Manchester United if they are to win the league. Pep plays his big players in the big matches and this is a huge week for City. Just in case, our vice captain is Son. Who plays Brighton. Can’t fail!

Hi Gang. This is my squad with 1ft and 1million itb. Not having sterling makes me slightly nervous, however need to address Deeney for bench boost this week. Suggestions please!
Wilson or Llorente seems to be the consensus
Cheers AT. Was thinking Wilson as an option. Gray might share mins with success which is putting me off
Gray sort of = Deeney in that people picked Deeney for these DGW games; Gray’s got them now (maybe). But may be a headache when Deeney’s back. And Smash thinks he’s shit. Wilson’s an all right choice.
I’m going to bring Sterling in as part of a -8 that takes out Deeney if that helps!
Just noticed we have 14 players the same, I’m shifting Erik, Jota and Deeney to Llorente sterling and Brooks, you could do the sane but maybe you can afford Fraser?
That’s not a bad idea Rosco! Wasn’t looking at hits. Sterling I really want even considered Salah to Sterling for this week and then switch back next week
Hughes a dgw option?
If it’s any consolation, Neilos, no Salah makes me feel slightly nervous…
Do you have nearby mini-league rivals that could captain Sterling and threaten you?
If so, Rosco’s got a plan; if not, go for Gray (a punt) or Wilson and sit back.
Hi Jamesimmo, not really maybe one but he doesn’t have Salah this week. I think either Wilson or Gray me thinks. You all set buddy?
You should be fine. Salah seems fired-up again after last weekend.
I think so, yeah, now that Murray —> Gray has been confirmed. The captaincy’s not easy…
Deulofeu’s already dropped since I gave him a 2nd chance — this isn’t my first Gameweek with a suspect Watford trio — probably another Wildcard mistake. I’m just hoping that at least one starts in the Huddersfield game.
Seeing your punt on Gray, I think you’ve helped me out!!
Have you decided your capo?
Sterling I think.
+1 (once I own him!)
Gone with kun! Proper nervous about this GW! My ML is so close!
Agüero (despite Sterling’s form) for me. He’s been a loyal, explosive, reliable captain over the past ~5 seasons.
This is perhaps cynical — as opposed to purely picking who I believe will score the most points — but Agüero’s got a higher ownership than Sterling, both overall and on the FF247 boards, so the herd mentality kicks in for safety.
I’m seeing TCs on Agüero (above being a prime case) and can only imagine the devastating effects of a double Sterling blank while he bags two hat-tricks.
Either Kun,De Bruyne,Son or Jiminez…. !
Jimenez! The other candidates have seemingly tricky fixtures and/or are spent from mid-week shenanigans. (I own Sterling and Son et al). I’m under the impression Jesus gets a start too 😀 (which may affect Kun’s minutes at least for the Spurs game). All conjecture of course!
Jiminez still. Despite Wolves larking around all week, by the sound of things. Hopefully he’ll get into double figures. Before the x2 bit.
My other strong options are Kun and Son. Pep was a tad irresolute in the press conference. Son may get more minutes but could be lining up with a squad of relative unknowns for the Brighton game.
I could display signs of psychotic behaviour and choose Duffy.
I’m in 5th place in my main ML with only 28 points separating me from 1st! Gone all out!!
Team for GW35, good to go?
GTG
Yup – all good! Jealous of your x1 BRI – I’ve got two of the scoundrels!
Having Lacazette would make me nervous. I think I’d prefer a nailed player, especially if trying to close a gap. I’d be very tempted by Wilson up against a leaky Fulham. The change you’d have may come in handy.
Really need some advice please. Can’t decide to either do deeney to llorente and bench boost or do similar to what the site team has done and save bb and transfer and TC aguero. Do I have a strong enough team to bench boost?
Deeney to Wilson, Duffy to Cathcart and BB
I’m a bit cautious to be taking a hit especially when I’m second in my ML by 4 points. Although he has used his bench boost
That side’s fine to BB. Just ditch the Deen.
Ok so I’m definitely taking a -8 to get Deeney out and sterling in. I need to downgrade a player to make up the £1.0m shortfall. I either lose Laporte or Jota. So essentially who scores more;
1. Laporte and Brooks
2. Jota and Cathcart
option 2 for me
How about Redmond instead of Brooks ?I know you have Jwp but at least he has a double and Southampton have some nice fixures and Jwp can drop to the bench after this week.
Just realised you cant afford Redmond in that option.Forget that !
2 – if there was ever a time to get a CS, it’s vs HUD (most of the time). Cathcart probably has more of a chance to keep a CS than Laporte considering the respective opposition.
I’d actually fancy getting Brooks in.
Foster and Jiménez cover you (in theory) for Cathcart and Jota’s points. It’s a nice decision to have! Good luck.
I’ve been merrily recommending Wilson this week whilst ignoring the reality of his fixtures from 36 onwards. They’re not that brill so while this week should be ok he could be a headache in the future.
If you just need your Watford defender for the double I’d say Masina as Holebas is injured. Watford have plenty of CB’s who could come in
Good tip thanks my good man!
I may be too late to suggest this Rosco, but you could downgrade Lloris to Gunn to raise the cash for the other moves (i.e. allowing you to keep Laporte and Jota). You don’t already have any SOT defence, and they have a decent double, and it avoids the inherent conflict of having Lloris against Stelring and Kun in the first game. Just a thought…
You’re not too late and that’s a mighty fine suggestion!!
I’ve been neglecting my team a bit recently. What is everyone thoughts on WCding from this:
To this?
My main question for the WC is do I want to double up on Mane and Salah or keep Hazard?
Cheers.
By neglecting you dodged the Brighton bullet.
I’d just load up with Liverpool and City players, don’t forget Son, look at the fixtures and take it from there.
Yeah triple Liverpool, triple City, Jimenez and Son and then work around that
Thanks guys.
City coverage is tricky for me? Aguero is hard to justify at his price, I was thinking Sterling + Ederson
