A big fat green arrow greeted us last week as we jumped over 70k in the rankings and back into the top 100k. We got a total of 68 points which was 16 above the official average but that particular measure is starting to become increasingly unreliable as the weeks go by and dead teams begin to gather up along the way like roadside trash. A better measure now is to look at the top 10k as we can assume most of them are still active, the average in that group was 58.

In terms of our players Patricio returned just about what we expected having lost his clean sheet whilst making a number of saves, just not quite enough! And tellingly 2 less than DDG himself. No such complaints with the rest of our defence as all 4 brought home a clean sheet, albeit with no attacking returns between them. Obi Wan-B proved to be a bonus magnet again, hoovering up all 3 as is becoming his MO.Our midfield proved to be our weakest spot with only Salah bringing anything meaningful. Last weeks transfer was a straight toss up between Fraser and Maddison with the other most likely coming in this week. Fair to say we got that one the wrong way round! The previous weeks transfer had been similarly unsuccessful with Vardy replacing Firmino but it paid off this time with the little scampster getting us 11 points to go alongside Captain Kun’s 12. Our captain choice was looking promising until Pep pulled him part way through the party just as it was coming to life. King had a hard day at the office.

Last Week’s Result

What have we done this week?
Well according to the logic above and also last weeks ‘thinking’ then James Maddison was a sure fire shoe-in. Or was he?! He certainly more than passed the eye test and of course scored again last week. So when we put it to the vote it was somewhat of a surprise that Richarlison suddenly came from nowhere and swept the floor clean with poor James, who may now have to wait another week or so to join our ranks. We can only assume that the panel all witnessed the Arsenal v Everton game last weekend and came to roughly the same conclusion, which was that he also passed said eye test, albeit being unlucky not to have any actual FPL points to show for it. He did indeed look very lively to say the least and the most likely (only?!) from his ranks to score. Plus he also gets a go at Fulham this week who are conceding at a rate of more than 2 a game on average so far.

Who he actually came in for was a separate debate altogether! We have Lucas Moura who, very worryingly for us and his fellow managers, trotted out last night in the Milk Cup. Such ‘Poch’ logic probably points to him seeing the bench against Huddersfield at the weekend. And he represents potential future transfer funds tied up in that case. Upon more careful inspection though we decided to lose Cairney instead as it meant we had a more balanced squad for now, still have the option of King to Mitro next week, or indeed poor old James finally coming in, perhaps for Moura.

To confirm then, we’ve… SOLD Cairney and BOUGHT Richarlison

A lone and sole voice did pop up quietly and pensively however, after the dust had almost just settled on all that, to ask simply, and rightly so, “What’s our Hazard plan then?!”… Perhaps it was because he’d just seen his team knocked out by him with an absolute worldy, (not to name names). Perhaps it was just concern for future planning and the fact that he does indeed look like he’s gone on another level, West Ham performance aside, and that we don’t own him. Either way it’s a pertinent question and not one we have the answer to really as other than losing Salah we are a long road away from being in a position, budget wise, to bring him in. Big sofas with broad backs have been duly ordered until we play our Wildcard…

The Team In Full…

CAPTAIN – AGUERO, VICE CAPTAIN – RICHARLISON
Fortunately this was a tad more straight-forward, as you can probably imagine. Kun at home to anyone usually is, call anyone ‘Brighton on their travels’ and the rest isn’t really worth putting into words.

Just in case Pep Pep’s us we chose Richarlison as our vice.

I have used my free transfer this week so think I’m going with this. I have enough cash to bring Bennett in for Peltier which needs to be done at some point. My bench appears to have died. Still have the wildcard available

      Good tem.
      About Mendy …
Do you plan to change him ? Laporte ?

      • Smash says:

As long as we don’t get any concrete news to say he’s going to be out injured for ages I’m ok keeping him till after the international break. Wan Bissaka has two decent games so he can play instead. Laporte yeah he’s played every game but will this continue with three decent centre backs for and healthy

Nice team smash …wouldn’t even think about your wc atm!
If Mendy def out Peltier to Bennet could be worthwhile as fancy Wolves against Southampton a lot more than WB against Bournemouth and will come in handy for the future, but you could just as easily leave it and avoid a hit

      • Smash says:

Thanks. Yeah same I much prefer Bennett over Wan Bissaka this week as I think Bournemouth score. It’s just the -4 for it which don’t make a lot of sense as much as I need Bennett to provide some bench cover.

Team looks good to go Smash. Wan B can come in for Mendy just in case.Rich+Maddison is a good combo

      • Smash says:

        Thanks Constantine how you looking?

        • constantine says:

Smash.. I am sticking to my plan of Salah+ Wilson—-> Kane + Richarlison.. Howsoever wrong that might feel. I just have a hunch for Kane for the next two weeks. Also, he gets bonuses if he scores. Obviously Salah would score/ assist in the next two games. I am guessing he’d score from 15-20 points. But Kane might score 3-4 goals in the same time. He’ll be scoring 25-30 points. That might justofy the transfers. rest only time will tell.

Fair enough it’s aggressive but it could pay off

hey smash.. good squad for the week. almost have the same squad you except salah, maddie and mendy. im contemplating on whether to do the dilva to maddie switch thisweek. extra cash will help build up elsewhere.

Not all in one go obviously, but I would look at Mendy to Vertonghen (then to a Chelsea defender in a few weeks time), Patricio to Ederson (covers Man City defensively now you have lost Mendy), Peltier to Bennett (covers Wolves once you sell Patricio), and Quaner to the someone who plays (should you have the money!)

    Morning all

    Ive 1ft and 0.5m ITB

Thinking of Lucas moura to Richarilson

Like some others on here my bench is in a bad way so either I make a change there or take the rotation risk of Lucas Moura out is my thinking….will probably hold mendy unless there is news he is out long term

    Any advice appreciated

      Smash says:

How about King to Mitrovic. With Erikson our injured Moura might get the Huddersfield game but yeah I’d much prefer Richarlson over Moura

      • superstruggler says:

        Cheers Smash

King will go for sure but for this week Id probably leave him there at home to Palace – youd assume Bournemouth will have a reaction to last weeks drubbing – downside of that being I have a palace goalkeeper and defender!

Ill see what Pep says about Mendy – it might be an option to do mendy to walker to try and get one Clean sheet this weekend

      elcfc says:

For me, transfer has to be Mendy out for Vertonghen.

As it stands Wan Bissaka comes in for Mendy. Then if Bournemouth score, half your defence blanks, but if they dont, two of your attackers blank. No winners!

This is compounded by the fact your other two defenders are playing each other, whilst one of them is against Salah.

You need someone else, and probably a Spurs defender. For me Vertonghen is the only guaranteed player

      • superstruggler says:

Elcfc – cheers, ill listen to the city presser summary and see if Mendy is definitely out and take action then.

Vertonghen a better shout than Walker or downgrade to one of the wolves lads with an eye on upgrading elsewhere next week

        • elcfc says:

My idea defender wise would be go for a Spurs defender until GW 10 (Huddersfield, Cardiff, West Ham), and then go Chelsea (Burnley, Palace, Everton, Spurs, Fulham, Wolves, Man City, Brighton, Leicester, Watford, Palace, Southampton, Newcastle). That see’s you through to mid-Jan!

Walker obvious appeal for the City factor and their easy home games, but could be rotated. I have Ederson in goal to cover City defensively, so would go for him if you can afford it eventually!

If you want a Wolves defender, go Peltier to Bennett!

    MBD says:

I am in a tight spot at the moment. My subs are either injured or wont be used. I still have Mendy and just heard Erisken won play. I have only 1 FT. Do i take a hit or just transfer Eriksen out since a defender can end up with just 2 pts leaving me -2 worse off. Do i do both or not.
What is the Best value for an eriksen replacement esp since i have 2m in the bank already? (already have hazard fraser Richarlison)
And if i do both who comes in for mendy since i have Wan and Robertson already.
    Pls help!!!!

    AT says:

    1FT, 0.1m in the bank

I’m thinking grab Trippier for Mendy and bench Alonso/Robbo (that sounds odd)? Aurier’s injury being the deciding factor, although a little concerned KWP might get a look in in the prem games.

Thoughts? My other consideration was to get rid of Mane but Eriksen’s injury has made me doubt that option as I’m not totally sure on Alli and Son’s game time over the coming few doesn’t seem assured. Sterling and Holebas/Jonny/a fit Doherty is also a consideration, but not sure about it for a hit.

    Cheers
