Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW8. After the success of GW6 we came crashing back down to earth in GW7! We registered a paltry 50pts which was 1pt below the overall average and 10ts below the average of the top 10k. This resulted in a red arrow of over 47k and an overall rank of 145,387.
In terms of our starting XI it was Patricio who led the way, with a clean sheet, six saves & two bonus points giving him a total of 10pts. Sergio Aguero and Jamie Vardy were the only other players to register any meaningful points with both claiming an assist and two bonus points. The remaining eight numpties aren’t worth mentioning! That’s enough about GW7. Let’s move on to GW8, surely James Maddison will finally make his way into our squad this week? There’s also the small matter of Hazard & Kane to concern ourselves with…
Last Week’s Result
What have we done this week? Sold Salah & Aguero and Bought Hazard & Kane!
We aren’t quite sure if we’ve just lost the plot or simply done something eminently sensible. To begin to explain all this we should say that Kane was our main priority this week, what with his seeming return to a bit of form and him facing Cardiff at home this week. Quite how we ended up on him coming in and Salah leaving is another story altogether…
Let’s begin with Kane… A few short weeks back he was tired, listless, needed a rest and wasn’t taking any shots. Or so the media had us believe, anyway. He probably wasn’t tired at all, but that’s how the story went. And then he played Brighton and scored a penalty early doors. Now this probably wasn’t the direct catalyst for the transformation, but possibly helped, as in the last 5 minutes of that game he suddenly starting taking shots again. Like, lots of them. Legend has it that he had more shots in those 5 minutes than Man United have had under Jose’s enter reign. The writing was on the wall then for a typical Kane style change of fortune and we salute anyone who saw it coming ahead of Huddersfield away, even more so if you stuck the armband on him. Sure enough he grabbed two in that one and then of course continued this vein with a super strike against Barcelona. Which lands us upon Cardiff at home…
Salah… Whilst it was disappointing and also somewhat disconcerting to see him subbed off early against Chelsea he didn’t actually perform that badly overall and was unlucky not to score due to some Rudiger heroics. He was ‘ok’ overall, but just not Salah ‘ok’, or certainly £13million odd ‘ok’. And then we watched the Napoli game… oh dear! Straws and camels came to mind. As did the contrast of Eden Hazard’s current form. We’ve said for a few weeks now that we need Hazard in ASAP but just didn’t see how or when it would happen due to budget constraints. We could have brought Kane in with a minor tweak elsewhere but this wouldn’t have solved our Hazard issue and our ongoing unease each and every time he so much as looks like entering the opposition half. We are fully aware of the games that Salah will supposedly excel in after this one but sometimes you just have to trust your eyes and right now they say Salah and Hazard are at opposite ends of both the form and confidence spectrum.

What is the likelihood of de bruyne returning for game week 9?
50% maybe… Hard to say, why are you asking? I’d just wait for him to actually play some minutes first and see how he’s eased in… Or is he just immediately gonna start being nailed… Feels like he could be a great buy down the line, not quite yet though!
I’m considering using my wildcard for gw 9 but the moves I’m using it for could be done with a mini wild card if I roll a transfer and take a -4. If de bruyne is back then I’ll use my wildcard meaning I’ve a transfer free this game week
I’m debating a TC on Kane…. this would be one of those reckless moments I talked about….
Reasons for:
1. It’s Cardiff
2. I’ve failed with my TC 3 years in a row using it in a DGW (2×3, 3×3, 6×3)
3. It’s Cardiff
4. It’s fun (maybe)
Reasons against:
1. DGW could yield a 25 pointer for someone
2. Spurs are not playing at full strength
3. Kane is not back to his best
4. I’m not very lucky at the moment
This one will plague my brain all damn day!!
I wouldn’t do it anyway. Too much of a risk. Safe it for another day and probably a double gameweek.
Log off Rosco. What’s the point? Even if he lands a hattie those extra 17 pts are not enough when compared to a strategic DGW plan. It’s not the actual points it gives you or not in the DGW, it’s the advantage it gives you to then have it available.
I can see why you might be tempted Rosco. DGWs are always a bugger for picking someone decent who plays 180 minutes, or even starts both games. Throw in the fact that DGW fixtures aren’t necessarily two easy ones anyway.
It’s a gamble because (in theory) you ‘could’ have Aguero playing 180 minutes over two easy home games in a DGW, but really, how likely is that?
I would be quite tempted to do it if I were you.

Just a thought, but if the league isn’t over yet when the DGWs in the end come, then the likes of Aguero and others from teams who might still be battling for the title would be a lot more likely to play 180mins… And if that’s the case, I’d very much want to have an attacker TC in a double when that said attacker is putting all what’s in the tank in order to score goals and win the title! Let’s hope it won’t be over in February like last season
The thing is, hard to predict right now how it’s going to pan out, but perhaps Chelsea/Liverpool/City could be even enough in points this season so it could be a real battle. It’s not impossible!
I`m just holding out for a Southampton DGW so I can triple captain Danny Ings.
I certainly won’t be doing that though. 😉
But yeah, there’s the relegation battle as well in the end of course!
4. If Kane doesn’t quite deliver, is it fun to not have the TC chip anymore for the remainder of the season though?

I’ve always played it in DGW but it’s never worked yet, hence my thinking! Will still go to the wire!! I’ll let you know if I do!

I wouldn’t myself, if I’m honest, hun. Whilst loads of people are putting their trust in him, Kane is part of a team that may have put two past Barca but is missing a good few people and therefore creativity. I think Kane will score, but I don’t think it’s going to be a cricket score.
