FF247 FPL Team GW20
Welcome to FF247 FPL Team Gameweek 20
Technically 3 18s
So with no chips in play, we navigated Gameweek 19 with NINE double gameweek players and eight within the starting eleven (more on that later) and saw fit to ride it out as we were.
The headline is we scored 95 points – a respectable 21 points above the average – but that was dwarfed in comparison to some of the big guns within the community who were clearly clarivoyant in their transferring in of John Stones and his 21-point first match and posted scores of upwards of 130. Bravo!
The 95 brought us up in the rankings to 1,201,188 overall and knocking on the door of the top million which in broader terms is poor by our own standards but in the context of our 2020/21 season so far, is actually pretty handy considering we were outside the top 2 million just five gameweeks ago. Four green arrows in a row no less. As the old saying goes ‘slow and steady wins the race’*
*for the top 50k.
The review of the individual players will firstly skirt over the bombers. Alex McCarthy (1), Patrick Bamford (2) and Tomas Soucek (4) can hit the showers. Ben Chilwell (7) and Harry Kane (9) sandwich our eightsome reel – Salah, Bruno and Grealish – who scored one little duck each. Considering each had a double gameweek AND Salah was our captain that is pretty disappointing. Not ‘4 point disappointing’ but disappointing nonetheless.
Vlad Coufal hauled 12 in his two games and considering he only got one clean sheet, that’ll do.
Cast your mind back to the title. We had three players score us 18 points – Dias of The City, Antonio of The Hammers and Matt Targett of the Villa. However, we were somewhat off target as we ‘left back’ the Villa man on our bench.
Could have been the ton there if we had played the DGW to the maximum and left Bamford (or Kane, unlikely) on the bench. But still, as Rino Gattuso once said whilst coach of Milan and when asked what would have happened IF his team had scored first:
“IF MY UNCLE HAD THREE BALLS HE’D BE A PINBALL MACHINE”
Our Gameweek 19 Result…
Let’s go see what was decided…
Our Gameweek 20 Transfer(s)
The injury to Kevin De Bruyne obviously caught our attention and like many, the idea that an already-in-form Ilkay Gundogan would now play a more prominent role in this City team (including the likelihood of him being on at least some of the penalty duties) was too good to resist. We say a farewell to Soucek then as we aren’t likely to triple captain him any time soon.
To confirm then we have SOLD TOMAS SOUCEK and BOUGHT ILKAY GUNDOGAN
Captain – BRUNO FERNANDES
One of the number actually fancied the armband with the new signing right away. The more sensible/boring among us prefer Bruno Fernandes who sauntered off the bench in the FA Cup to sweep away a free kick from the edge of the box. Just getting his eye in ahead of Sheffield United coming to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening
Should something go wrong with the Portuguese, we back Gundogan with the vice captaincy.

Evening folks! Well, we’ve hit the midway stage of the season and so we thought it would be a nice time to let you all know how our little experiment is going. When I say ‘nice time’ to tell you, I only mean it in the sense that we have passed the halfway point. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that we hit 100 points this week.
As some of you may remember, some of us writers not involved with the site team created our own little side team. We decided to call it ‘The Outsiders’, although in hindsight that was probably overly provocative. They decided to call it The Outsiders; it had nothing to do with me.
Now, you may think a management team that includes myself, Elle, Guy and Simmo would be a bit iffy but thankfully we have Smash, Swirls, Rosco, AT and DMC to keep us on track.
The team has worked surprisingly well and is currently in the process of sending a joint CV to Roman Abramovich for the Chelsea gig with an OR of 137,722 – a rank that beats all its managers bar Rosco!
With all our chips left to play (due in no small part to the fact that no one in the team has much appetite for entertaining lengthy transfer discussions), we hope to push on in the second half of the season and break into the top 100k.
With that in mind, good luck for the rest of the season. We might have another update soon, as we are considering a hit. We already used our FT on KdB to Gundogan as Smash guaranteed he would rise… that was 3 days ago!!
:manic:
Who do you think would win a fight between your team and the site team?
Oooh feels like Rocky part 2 !!
More like Rocky IV except they are Drago and we’re Apollo!
I was thinking more the Thriller in Manilla. Both sides will punch each other to a standstill – and continue. Both will be pissing blood the day after.
Now I just want to watch the Rocky films again
Same, Smash!
Don’t be bringing me into your fight, i’m to old remember.
You’re the Mickey to our Rocky, Elle! :wink2:
Sod off.
Looking at the picture above, Kralin, three of our team are flagged, so I wouldn’t be betting on us!
That all adds to the drama. A side risen from seemingly impossible injuries. Either that or resort to underhand tactics. A vist to the sickbed met with pepper thrown into the face and a bed-bottle smashed over the head.
Evening all. I have one free transfer and 0.3 in the bank. Issues with Rashford, KWP and a lack of Man City coverage. Was thinking Dallas to Stones or Soucek to Gundogan. Happy for your suggestions peeps. Thanks
Soucek’s crown seems to have slipped considerably this week. But yes, Gundogan is a definite upgrade. Stones is also a good move because the City defence has been brill. I think I’d tidy up the mid first – Rashford could be ditched instead, alowing for more money next GW to ponder the City defence.
He seems to have gone from Ronaldo to a regular defensive midfielder again. Funny that
I never saw that happening. I thought he’d keep the high level returns going for ever and would be priced 13.5m next season.
For all that I owe old Soucek a lot this season – has chipped in with some really handy points and taunted me from the bench a couple of times, too. Absurdly, I feel nervous benching him.
Thanks Kralin.
Yeah I would do those moves especially the Gundogan move.
Hi Mattx i can only do one or the other due to lack of funds. Unless i drop Rashford to Gundo and maybe KWP to Stones/Dias for a minus 4.
Apologies I hadn’t seen the ‘or’. I would favour the Gundogan move
Hey Mattx no worries. Gundo is doing really well. Id like city defence but want to try and avoid hits. Would you upgrade Soucek or downgrade Rashford?
I’d do Soucek out
Ta Mattx
Soucek to Gundogan for me. Soucek’s form has fallen since Antonio has returned.
Cheers Swirly
ok, have moved onto this thread as its more active now..lol
ITB:1.3m – FTx1
Ok, I was going to do:
Soucek->Gundogan
Vardy->Kane
but am 0.2m short. Definitely want to do the 1st move, but what about the 2nd?
Vardy->Jesus instead? Zouma->Stones?
Even with it being for a hit, I’d do Soucek to Gundogan and Zouma to Stones. Both big upgrades when it comes to FPL points potential.
Good ideas but leaves him with a terminally ill looking bench.
Can always sort that out next week
His side may resemble a front-line dressing station by then.
I’ve just answered elsewhere, shapeshifter. Vardy to DCL and either Gundo or a City defender is worth a punt. I know it’s a hit.
Yeah, just seen that Kralin, thanks mate.
Yeah, if i bring in Stones, it leaves my bench knackered for the weekend.
DCL is a good shout.
Gundo is a better option over a defender for the other, as he is on penalties, so could get points there.
Just do Kane? Play Zouma over Soucek in the hopes of a new manager bounce, settle your team next week
understand your logic OddDane, but lack of City players worry me. feel they may do damage to WBA
Don’t sweat it. Has worked perfectly fine for me these past few weeks…. oh wait…
*opens door, leaves quietly mid-sentence*
I would go Vardy to DCL and KWP to Stones. You can think about Zouma later.
ok, well ive done Soucek->Gundogan, and gambled on Vardy->Jesus.
The Jesus transfer was a gamble as I say as a hit, but who knows, it might work.
Gotta go with the gut sometimes…lol
Please rate my team below
I have 1 FT and 1.5 in bank
Also i am out of Cup
If you don’t mind, khaledhesham:
I can’t get it to work Kralin.
Am I a robot? 😯
…hmm, maybe just an imbecile.
:big-lol:
I’d roll the transfer, however you may want to look to downgrading one of Neto or Zaha to a cheap £4.5m mid sometime, as you’re giving yourself a headache on who to play each week at the moment.
Team looks solid for this GW, makes sense to roll the transfer or bring in a City defender for Holding.
Congratulations to the site team! Another week on (in?) the green! Nice work  :good2:
Hey everyone!
Plan is to do KDB & Holding to Gundo & Cancelo. And then Soucek to Maddison next week if nothing goes wrong.
Starting XI for this week would be:
Martinez
Cancelo Stones Justin Cresswell
Bruno (C) Gundo Salah Soucek
Kane Antonio
Bench order: Adams, ESR, Mitchell
Sounds good or need to reassess? Any better ideas?
Seems all right to me. It’s good to have a plan.
Thanks, Kralin! Short and sweet.
