Bench Pain

Welcome to FF247 Site Team GW5

After the misery of the previous week, Gameweek 4 finally decided to be nice to us.

93 points.

A full 24 points above the Gameweek average of 69, and a Gameweek rank of 595,963. We’ll take that. Very happily.

The big decision was handing the armband to João Pedro, and for once our captain actually behaved like a captain. His 12 points became 24, immediately giving the week a very healthy foundation.

And unlike some previous weeks, he actually had some help!

Groß was the star of the supporting cast with a massive 17 points, while Calvert-Lewin chipped in with 10 and Rogers added another 8. Kinsky contributed 7, while Kadıoğlu and Calafiori both returned 6, meaning there were points appearing all over the pitch rather than us desperately staring at one player carrying ten passengers.

Lovely!

Naturally, it couldn’t all go smoothly.
Maguire managed one point. Bruno Fernandes produced two. Szoboszlai gave us three. But when the rest of the team is scoring like this, you can forgive a few passengers.

There was, however, one familiar problem…the bench!

Because apparently we aren’t allowed to have a good Gameweek without leaving a small fortune sitting on it.

Verbruggen scored 8. Fine. Kinsky scored seven, so we’re not losing sleep over that one.

But then there was Leif Davis.

14 points!

Third on the bench. Of course he was. Rodon and Le Fée combined for precisely zero, while Davis sat at the very end of the bench watching 14 perfectly good points go completely unused.

Still, this time we’re not complaining too much.

93 points. Captain return. Groß hauling. Calvert-Lewin returning. Rogers returning. Two defensive returns.

After some of the nonsense we’ve already endured this season, this felt considerably more like it.

The only slight concern is that we’ve now discovered the secret to getting our players to haul:

Put them third on the bench.

But for once, the headline is simple. 93 points. A proper green-arrow kind of week. And perhaps — just perhaps — this ridiculous FPL team is finally starting to work.

Our Gameweek 4 Result

We have £0.4 in the bank and 2 free transfers to use ahead of GW5. Let’s go see what was decided….

Our GW5 Transfer(s)

We kept it really simple this week. Get rid of the red flag with a player that will actually play.

Arsenal are obviously the best defence in the league and when you have a 4.5 route into that you take it. Therefore, out went Rodon and in came Konsa.

To confirm then we have SOLD Rodon and BOUGHT Konsa

Captain – Haaland

PREDICTED LINE-UPS

Back by popular demand! Well, sort of… Drafthound have changed their line-up approach this season and what it means for us is that we are no longer able to display a live feed of it on here due to some technical difficulties. That said, what they have done looks great and is still only a click away so if you want to access those they are HERE

Worth rolling the transfer just in case any injuries after the IB?
I know Pedro is flagged, but it’s possible he might play.

    • I would roll it

    • I was about to ask the exact same question. I also have Leif as first sub.
Had considered Pedro > Wissa knowing I will be wildcarding next week

    • Looks good to go.

  3. i have a feeling Haaland will struggle against Sunderland. Last year Ballard was all over him in both games and i think they will definately have a plan to keep him quiet.

  4. Is this good to go?
    Thanks

  5. Afternoon all! After a good week I’m keen to keep up the pressure on my rivals (mates).

    1FT and 0.2m itb.

I’m thinking of swapping Verbruggen out for Kinsky. The Arsenal fixture looks a little scary tbh. Am aware that Dubravka is that probably a silly pick now, but makes a *little* more sense if I have Kinsky.

Should I just roll and risk it? Or have I possibly missed something else?

    Cheers smile

    • I would roll. We have 3 weeks break and God knows what might happen in that time. 2 FT could be useful.

      • Great shout. Appreciate it mate!

    • I had Verbruggen and Kinsky when I WC last GW I kept Kinsky, Spurs seem to be improving at the back now, they have an easier run of games on average than Brighton, it’s bit of a sideways move unless on WC, so I think that is the question, when do you think you will WC?

The only thing against Verbruggen is the European games, so he will play more games and thus more chance of something happening to him.

  6. Going with this.
