The wrong Seagull

Back in GW6, we made a big thing about the letter ß, culminating in our transfer in of Pascal Groß (along with Diogo Dalot). Whilst Pascal did manage an assist, it was fellow Seagulls midfielder Alexis Mac Allister (who was in consideration) who proved to be the one who got away following his 14pt return at home to Leicester. However, in a week when the only other player to return was our captain Haaland, those 5pts were much appreciated. The less said about our other 9 players the better.

We ended the game week on 39pts, 6pts below the average (45) which culminated in our second red arrow of the season and a rank drop from 415,637 down to 678,972. We did better in GW7 and no games were played; a green arrow and jump up to 662,987. Makes us wonder if we would be better if the game week got cancelled more often!

Our GW6 Result…

We have £0.1 in the bank and 2 free transfer to use ahead of GW8. Let’s go see what was decided….

Our GW8 Transfer(s)

The cancellations have decimated our side and we’re down to just 7 players and that includes Ward. Gulp. Playing our Wildcard was very briefly mentioned but with 2FTs that thought was quickly dismissed. With the strong possibility of a Wildcard over the international break (and the benefit of extra time and some insurance from international injuries), we decided that a -4 would take us to 10 players and that was good enough (we hope).

A few names were thrown around, largely without any regard for who we could actually afford. Names that were mentioned for the chop were the Liverpool duo Salah and Diaz (given their lack of an actual game), Greenwood (who dis?) and even our new boy Groß (again largely due to him not having a game). Coming the other way we mooted Trippier, kdb Mitro, Isak, Toney and even Bailey (desperate times and all that!). In the end, we decided to go for Trippier, KDB and Mitro (despite the protests of our Geordie member and his love for the new Toon talisman Isak).

Making way is our Liverpool duo of TAA and Salah. There is a method in our madness with that one, given that they don’t play this week, and should we desperately want them back in GW9 we can simply wildcard. If however, we don’t drop the ‘WC’ in GW9, the reds fixtures in GW10 and GW11 (Arsenal and City) could be best swerved and they can come back in GW12 (West Ham at home) when Arsenal and City blank. We shall see. Sam ‘2pt’ Greenwood is the final player to leave our squad, and if we’re honest, there’s something quite nice about returning to the old faithful of 343 (albeit 333 this week).

To confirm then we have SOLD Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah and Sam Greenwood and BOUGHT Kieran Trippier, Kevin De Bruyne and Alexander Mitrovic

Captain – Erling ‘if it ain’t broke’ Haaland

Predicted Line-ups and FPL Team News

Rather than clutter the site up on deadline eve with too many articles we have tagged our predicted line-ups on here.

As a quick reminder –

There are two versions of this article.

The one below has a drop-down version. It’s fairly idiot proof – you simply click on the small arrow to the right of the team name and you get a drop-down list of all the teams. Simply click on the one you want to see and hey presto, etc. This is the published article with the comments section to crack on with.

The other one is permanently live and has the ‘nicer’ grid layout. If you want to see that version you can click here. This can also be easily accessed at any time via a myriad of links on our homepage – Header link, Hot Topics link, Quick Access link on mobile and it is also linked towards the end of all of our regular articles.

What you see below is a live link to what Drafthound have on their website. Why is that significant? Well, firstly, it now means that the second they make any updates in reaction to live team news then they will also appear on here. Being uber helpful in that respect they also time-stamp all of their line-ups so you can tell to the minute when it was last updated.

As an additional extra if you click on any player icon on the team line-up that will take you to their own page on Drafthound, from where you can see up to date season stats, their upcoming fixture schedule and use a comparison tool to view similar players.

Given their time and effort in providing this content for us it would be rude not to occasionally click on the Drafthound link and check out their own fabulous content as there are FPL articles aplenty on there too.

You can access our live feed to these here.

Was looking at B.Silva but he had slightly less gametime than their other mids. Think I’m going with Foden although one site has Gundy as the highest scorer this week (B.Silva was surprisingly quite far down the list)

    Which do you prefer:

    A. Robertson and Salah to Cancelo and Son
    B. Robertson and Salah to Persic and KDB
