Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 5
GW4 went pretty well for us as we scored 64pts, 12pts above the average. Bearing in mind we captained the benched Raheem Sterling, who’s 30min cameo produced just 2pts for us, we were relatively happy, if somewhat annoyed with Brendan Rodgers! Our main performers were Fabregas, Costa and Di Maria late on in the gameweek, while Aguero chipped in with a goal and Alderweireld grabbed us a clean sheet on his debut. Poor returns from Mannone, Moreno, Wilson, Siggy and Welbeck were disappointing, but everyone has players with low scoring weeks and are part and parcel of the game, so no need to panic on those ones and we look forward to GW5 with confidence and excitement.

Transfer for GW5
We have decided to hold our free transfer for this week as we feel there is nothing obviously wrong with our squad at the moment and none of them are injured so far as we know. We do feel that for GW5 we may lack some Spurs or Everton coverage, but we don’t feel the need to chop and change every week and it’s not like those team’s forthcoming fixtures are massively attractive anyway. We are also conscious that teams playing in Europe do tend to not always perform as well as expected after a midweek match and with both Everton and Spurs having played Europa Cup matches on Thursday, we’ll cross our fingers and hope for the best!!
After all, two transfers next week may well come in handy!

Line-up for GW5
As you can see we are playing Krul at home to Hull, despite Newcastle’s miserable form. Hopefully, Pardew has energised them this week (we were hoping he would of been booted out by now and Mr Defence, Tony Pulis, been installed – sadly it hasn’t happened).
Selecting the defenders was very tricky, but in the end we went with the attack minded Moreno, Taylor at home and Wilson at QPR. Benching Alderweireld was tough as the Saints have been very good thus far, but someone had to warm the bench and we hope that Stoke can be as tight at QPR as they were at the Etihad.
The midfield and forwards pick themselves and need little explanation! Welbeck is the only one that is on our ‘monitor’ list out of the front seven to be honest so he better start pulling up some trees at Villa as we have a huge list of players waiting to take his place. Well we say huge. Ok, it consists of just Pelle right now!

Captain
We have chosen to give the armband to Costa. Pretty tough decision this week, with Siggy and Aguero also coming close. We felt that Costa is on fire and in this game form is key. We accept he is unlikely to score another hat-trick this week, but his record this season speaks for itself and he was given the luxury of a seat on the bench for most of Wednesday evening’s Champions League match. And anyone who suggests that Sunday will be a tight game, difficult for Chelsea…remember what happened at Goodison in GW3?! City don’t appear to be firing on all cylinders as of yet, which puts us off Aguero, while Siggy could easily do well at home to Southampton, but with the Saints showing some decent form so far, we have plumped with default Costa! Siggy is the vice captain this week.

Teams looks good to me, is that your wildcard side? I have to ask about Ferdinand, I considered taking him out for Taylor of Swansea, but Swansea and Southamptons run of form is making me think again. What are your plans for him?

Who should I captain Costa, Rooney or di Maria?

It’s the question on everyone’s minds, Costa in great form but away to city. Out of the three Rooney is the safest, captain so will play and on pens.
I love this article, I find it really interesting to see the reasoning and thought process behind choices.
To follow-suit, here’s my weekly update that I’ve been doing instead of a simple RMT! Any tips welcomed.
I was set on keeping Krul and Mannone for the season but Newcastle’s defensive returns have looked extremely worrying. Regardless, I’ve decided to start Krul at home in the hope something gives, and as I already have van Aandholt in defence it spreads my risk.
My other two choices in defence were a bit easier, although Swansea face Southampton I feel they’re sound enough to have a good chance of a clean sheet. Moreno was a favoured choice over Clyne due to his recent form and the aforementioned hope of a Swansea clean sheet.
Midfield picked itself, Ward-Prowse got an assist last week but that doesn’t mean I should play him. He’s my cheap bench option and just that! Up front was a no-brainer as I didn’t want to swap my formation to accommodate any on my bench to my starting XI.
Transfer wise I have £1.1m in the bank. I’ve plans to bring Costa in shortly but decided to hold off this week as Chelsea face City away from home and I really fancy Welbeck and Adebayor to produce against Villa and West Brom respectively. Adebayor tickles my fancy so much from his recent performances I’ve decided to captain him!
Looking to future weeks I’m quite happy with my team, Costa is the only player on my radar at the moment and the others I feel could stay in my team all season. Sterling is the only exception, and the loss of Adebayor next week for Costa could force me in to a double swoop replacing Sterling for Chadli – another Spurs man I really think looks good at the minute.

Team looks good, my only pick is about the Swans vs saints players. Swansea coming off the back of a 4-1 defeat last week ( all be it away to Chelsea) and Saints are in great form, I don’t know what Taylors chances of a clean sheet are. Personally i’d rather have Duff of Burnley who’s on your bench.
