Welcome to FPL 2026/27 Rate My Team

Hello everyone and welcome to any new joiners for the coming season. We hope you’ve all enjoyed the summer time and some well deserved time off, or well, some time off either way!

A new season is dawning and already just shy of two weeks from now we’ll see Arsenal kick off the season against newly promoted Coventry City on Fri. 21st of August at the Emirates stadium. ‘The battle of set-pieces’ as one could call it; Coventry is probably the only team who have matched the Gunners on net goal difference from set pieces. Alas, that was not in the big boys’ league.

Before then there’s the community shield on Sun 16th where Gunners are facing Manchester City, the highlight of which will likely be their respective starting line-ups (including whether you-know-who might start or follow from a live-stream on a yacht somewhere).

Anyhow. We’ve had to remind ourselves that we are now at the helm of the 2026/27 season. Seasons come and go as they say. As it happens, so do managers. There’s wholesome 9 new EPL managers (11 if we include Carrick and Se Zerbi) and just five of them were in place at the start of the 2024/25 season. And that’s a pain in the… Ahem. That’s not making the expected lineups nor picking a starting team any easier, is what we were saying…
When it comes to our beloved FPL game there’s been a few changes to the game and player positions, we recommend you give it a quick read here. The biggest change is probably that they have added their own price predictor. However, the good news is they’re keeping the chips as they were – one less thing to think about!
The bad news is that the bench boost is then very much still a thing. Oh well. On that note, some seem to be going BB1 (Bloody Bugger off #1) and others seem quite keen on BB2 (Bloody bugger off again!); each with their elaborate reasoning, which, in short, can be summarized as ‘at least I’ve then used that bloody bugger of a chip’.

We aim to keep going, and keep going we shall. We suggest you all get started in the comments with helpful observations, recommendations and sharing your teams (or asking for help on your drafts of course). In the meantime we will work on preparing the site team and the season to come.

The new season has also brought a tremendous amount of new signings, including some known characters such as Tonali (5.5 to Spurs), Rogers (7.5 to Chels), Bruno G. (7.0 to Arsenal) and Senesi (6.0 to Spurs); as well as some new players to the EPL such as C. Tzolis (6.5 mid to Arsenal), M. Sangare (5.5 mid to Bees) and Florentino (5.0 mid to Ipswich) to name a few. Unfortunately we’re running out of both space and time and so, if we can find the time, we will try and put some words to the new signings on another day.

As ever then please feel free to use the opportunity in the comments below to post as many ‘RATE MY TEAM’ attempts as you wish and to then hopefully also help other members by reciprocating.

Good luck to you all! May you all pick a worse team than us! kiss

  1. Hi all,

Just back from a very long and enjoyable holiday so I will begin to update the site over the next few days with the up to date stuff in prep for the new season.

In the meantime many thanks to OddDane for putting the above together as a place to at least keep all the RMT’s in one place for now.

  2. we are back baby.

i’m at the stage of tinkering with the team, i’m sure some stage next week i will hit delete and start again.

I have a few easy player A or player B questions.

I’m likely to play WC in week 4 or 6.

    Hume vs Shaw?

    Le Fee vs Ndiaye?

    Szoboszlai +0.5m vs Wirtz

    Mosquera vs Calafiori?

    • a) Calafiori carries a little bit more attacking threat compared to Mosquera. But he also may get subbed off for MLS, so guess Calafiori if one wants upside and willing to accept a bit of risk, else Mosquera, a left field pick would be Ben White
      b) EO would say Szoboszlai, Wirtz has Iraola’s stamp of approval, he may have the biggest upside if he produces like say Kluivert from a couple of seasons ago at Bournemouth
      c) Le Fee, has the 10 position, Ndiaye’s initial fixtures are not great till GW 10
      d) Shaw as Man U have easy fixtures till the international break, though Maguire against old club Hull GW1 almost writes a story of winner at 90 minutes, no celebration etc.

      • The whole Arsenal defence is a worry. Arsenal’s games after week 2 is just ok, maybe a world of no Arsenal

    • I think Wirtz is worth the extra £500k

    • A lot to unroll here gamer

      – WC4/6; personally prefer not to plan for a wildcard but there can be benefits of an early one including capturing some early price increases. Still though, I’d go for a team that is sustainable w/o the WC and see how it goes.

      – Shaw/Hume; I’ve been on both and am now on neither, feels like booking in an early transfer. Still though both could work out, Hume has the higher ceiling I’d say.

      – Le Fee/Ndiaye; prefer Ndiaye, as I think Everton has a slightly better team and he is a bit more attacking. Not much to it though, they’re somewhat equals in terms of expected points I’d guess.

    • – Szobo vs Wirtz; I’ve been trying to keep Szobo as he’s such a great asset for the team, but from a FPL standpoint he does seem to play quite deep whereas Wirtz sits as an attacking 10 who seems to combine well with Isak.

      – Arsenal’s defense is tricky, especially if they also add Konsa to the equation. I think it is a rolle of the dice really, good arguments for either (and likewise against, when it comes to rotation). Currently am on Calafiori.

  3. What do you guys think? The bench is terrible, i know. But an early draft….

What 4,0 def, 4,5 mid and 4,5 forward are the best benchwarmers?

    • What 4,0 def, 4,5 mid and 4,5 forward.
Thomas, Crooks, Kusi-Asare OR Walle Egeli

  4. This is my team, although have swapped mosquera to calafiori.
Can’t access the app to get a new team photo.

    • I would drop VVD for someone cheaper, upgrade Szob to WIrtz as Szob is playing pretty deep it looks like, then upgrade Aaronson maybe.

      • You not think vvd is worth having then?
Drop him for? Not many decent players left.

    • Quite like it Hammer, but you’re a bit light on subs and bench strength. Dowell could maybe swap with Slater, seems like he’s seeing more minutes and starts.

In the 5.5mid bracket I’d slightly favor one of Xhaka, Groß or Caicedo to Aaronson I think.

      • Thanks Odd. Will look at that, plus what Terminator said.

I won’t be BB so in no rush to have a full playing bench just yet

  5. I just need Enzo to move to City beach

    • Bold cool

      • He isn’t moving cry that is going to cause issues at Chelsea as he wants to move.

  6. This is the team FPL picked for me. I need to start looking at reports and start transferring my team in.

    • You know, that’s not a terrible team for letting the fpl site pick for you. I always start there myself but I don’t think I can say I’ve gotten something even close to that. You know you have some tweaks to make but it’s not awful.

    • That’s surprisingly well balanced from a site autopick – missing the big money guys of course and a bit expensive bench, but decent starting point good

    • Updated team. I have 1.0 in the bank.
