Welcome to FPL is live 2020/21

It’s time to set your team up, re-join leagues and get tinkering! Although it’s worth noting that the actual Premier League fixtures are still to be released and likely won’t be until after the Champions League and Europa League have completed.

For FPL the biggest change appears to be the deadline changing to 90mins before kick-off – seemingly in an attempt to combat those annoying and often false team leaks.

The Chips have remained the same as has the budget of 100mln.

The biggest changes seem to have come in player prices and in some cases, classification. Some of the more obvious changes at first glance are:

Players now classed as midfielders:
Aubameyang (Arsenal) – price 12.0mln
Greenwood (Man Utd) – price 7.5mln
Rashford (Man Utd) – price 9.5mln
Lundstram (Sheff Utd) – price 5.5mln

Players now classed as forwards:
Richarlison (Everton) – price 8.0mln
Martial (Man Utd) – price 9.0mln
Antonio (West Ham) – price 6.5mln

New players:
Midfielders:
Ziyech (Chelsea) – price 8.0mln
Forwards:
Werner (Chelsea) – price 9.5mln

Good luck with the tinkering and please post your thoughts, comments and plans on the chat below.

  1. A no Manchester team. I quite like the distribution of funds. The players may change, but premiums at the back are still great value and having only 2 premium mids allows a good balance.

    • Looks good, i am going for Ayling from leeds myself. Classed as a defender but think he plays as a cdm

      • He’s a right back mate. A decent one.

        • I know wikipedia is a poor reference point. But they say he plays their something, hopping to find next year’s lunds early

        • Another mistake I make each year is to avoid players from newly-promoted sides – unless they’re 4m defenders.

This all usually leads to some hurried back-pedalling come GW3 and puzzling over Palace personnel littering up my side.

  2. The the winner of the Champions League tie tonight will eventually see Bayern in semis. Don’t see how the winner of tonight’s game is actually a winner.

    • Maybe Bayern have peaked when beating Barca, and can they repeat it again? Bayern beat what was put in front of them and will face a sterner test from City.

  3. Here’s the 4-5-1 draft. I’m not sure what to think of this one. It’s got all the big hitters in midfield.

    • I like it Smash. I’m not doing any drafts until fixtures come out as that could change everything.

Only thing I would change is Brewster to Wickham as you don’t really want to tie up a valuable Liverpool spot in a player who might get the odd few minutes but is most likely going to go back out on loan.

      • Yeah need fixtures for sure. Tbh I’d expect Brewster to go out on loan to a Premier league side this year. He did well in Championship

        • I would love that to happen. I just dont know to whom, maybe Palace?

        • Was thinking Palace, Villa, Leeds, West Brom. They all need a striker

        • I think Leeds would be good as they are an attacking team so he could learn the most there. I’d likely wait and see if he is linked with anyone as Liverpool have been very quiet. They have started their pre-season today so maybe in a few days some news will start filtering out of camp

    • Looks good. Now just to wait for the fixtures.

    • Would you consider Fernandes to Martial and use the 1.5M to upgrade the defence?

      • Actually not sure what I’d do to upgrade the defence. I like Justin at 4.5 as well. I’m not sure on Martial now he’s a striker and at 9 million. I’d much prefer Bruno. Though I quite like Werner at 9.5

  4. Anyone think that the result tonight for City will affect them like the thrashing Liverpool gave Barca.Barca are gone and never recovered from it,as Bayern proved.

  5. I think City will play GW1 now. Maybe the Monday night game if they need a bit more time. Let’s see those fixtures.

    • My prediction is Man City v Arsenal on Wednesday 16th Sep.

      • Now that IS a specific prediction!

        • Actually GP there aren’t so many options for MNC to play in GW1. If we assume the 30 day rule is applied so they can’t play before 15th. 13 of the premier teams are scheduled for round 2 of EFL cup 16/17th. Tot are committed to EL qualifier which only leaves: MNU, LIV, CHE which I am confident wouldn’t be scheduled for week 1. So it was a straight toss between Ars and Lei and the coin dropped for Ars.

      • Change that to MNC v ARS on Tue 15th. Then it can be on sky. They already have TV slots for the EFL cup on Wed & Thu

        • If it is City v Arsenal – and if that does happen then great stuff for calling it – then we’ll see a complete evaporation of Auba from people’s sides.

      • Monday the 14th be 30 days on the dot.

        • That will be the one then

        • On my calendar 14th is the 30th day so only 29 days rest but I suppose it could be interpreted that way.

        • Could easily be midweek against one of the big sides as well. If they can I think they will want it in the first GW

  6. FPL NON INTERVIEW: The Secret to Abject Failure

For some reason I always seem to pick Palace players for GW1. I don’t know what deeply irrational impulse prods me into doing this. But it’s a trap I fall into every year, without fail.

I swear that my first move for 20/21 was to chase a probably spurious rumour that Nathan Ferguson is a definite starter.

    Second move was for Ritchie.

Doherty and Kane’s prices caught my eye. But until the fixtures emerge it all seems a bit academic.

    • What position does Ferguson play? If he’s a LB maybe otherwise I’m not sure

      • I think it’s RB and if so then Joel Ward stands in the way (I think).

There are whispers about a West Ham defender – Johnson? – being a possibility.

At this stage this is my main interest (enablers).

      • He played mostly right back, however did play a handful of games at left back too. (and did a good job there also)

      • Yeah RB works then he prob will do then as Ward can move over to left with PVA injured (I think)
