Welcome to FPL is live 2020/21

It’s time to set your team up, re-join leagues and get tinkering! Although it’s worth noting that the actual Premier League fixtures are still to be released and likely won’t be until after the Champions League and Europa League have completed.

For FPL the biggest change appears to be the deadline changing to 90mins before kick-off – seemingly in an attempt to combat those annoying and often false team leaks.

The Chips have remained the same as has the budget of 100mln.

The biggest changes seem to have come in player prices and in some cases, classification. Some of the more obvious changes at first glance are:

Players now classed as midfielders:
Aubameyang (Arsenal) – price 12.0mln
Greenwood (Man Utd) – price 7.5mln
Rashford (Man Utd) – price 9.5mln
Lundstram (Sheff Utd) – price 5.5mln

Players now classed as forwards:
Richarlison (Everton) – price 8.0mln
Martial (Man Utd) – price 9.0mln
Antonio (West Ham) – price 6.5mln

New players:
Midfielders:
Ziyech (Chelsea) – price 8.0mln
Forwards:
Werner (Chelsea) – price 9.5mln

Good luck with the tinkering and please post your thoughts, comments and plans on the chat below.

Might be me but I think this is the easiest year ever to pick a decent FPL team.from the start. I must admit there is really not a lot of strikers though but certainly value everywhere.

      Kralin says:

Ings, Jiminez and Kane all seem priced reasonably well – Vardy, too, if one’s philosophical.

But yes – some good options all over.

      • Smash says:

Yeah I agree and I’ve not really considered any of them yet. I disagree on Ings though for me he’s overpriced

        • Kralin says:

Fixtures will determine who of that crowd come in – maybe. Ings and Jiminez in theory are nice little earners but of course I’d have the cheaper TAA et al in ahead of them.

Same on the goalie front (if I have the Southampton goalie I may be nervous about having another of their players).

Richarlison at 8 isn’t the worst of picks either. Pretty reliable player.

        • Smash says:

Yeah I mean currently Nyland even starts at 4 million I think. It’s possible Martinez at Arsenal keeps his place. McCarthy is a decent enough option though.

Richarlison certainly ain’t for me as an 8 million forward I hate that one personally.

      How’s the motor? :help:

I agree with you because I’ve tried a number of different layouts and they all work (one way or another).

For example, if you want four large midfielders then these can easily be accommodated with the use of Wood/Antonio/Adams/Mitrovic in attack.

Using a 4.5 attacker and not committing to the 3-4-3 ever, allows you a few million to upgrade, which could be Saliba to Tierney, Virgil to Robertson, Vinagre to Doherty etc.

      • Smash says:

Apparently they think it’s ok. I’m not convinced though as engine kept cutting out. Certainly weren’t worth the risk on a road trip. Back home from York now. Now contemplaTing what to do. Could fly up and hire a car or try and go somewhere else.

Yeah exactly. Can for a big midfield in and still have TAA. Wonder if United make week one. I see loads of decent defenders at 4.5. I can’t see me needing a 4.5 mid this season as will almost certainly be 3-5-2 or starting with 4-5-1.

      • Otieno says:

Would you include Ayew in your 6m candidates?

        • Smash says:

Possibly not sure though. Barnes, Nketiah and Adams as well as Mitrovic at that price

        • Of course, he is one of these who is effective but not obviously attractive for FPL but he had a good return after the lockdown.

Palace are bidding for Eberechi Eze from QPR according to Dom Fifield (local reporter) but as it stands, Ayew is first choice and will start that I think.

I disagree, their is about 10 mids I want, even of I do pick 5 of the 10 the rest of my team would suffer…

a good quarter of a mediocre season, and Greenwood is priced at 7.5m GUFFAW

      Gavy says:

I think his change to been a bit has a lot to do with that too. You need to add 16 points.

Total now would be 119. So if he holds his form do we think he’ll score more goals? Even at the 119 that’s 15.8 ppm if you like to play that way.

With the likes of foden (in my team now) is only is only 10.61. I just hope he gets a lot more game time with dsilva. Just need to see who city buy is all.

      • lamderek says:

where do you think foden will play? he keeps being touted as the dsilva replacement, but since the restart, he has only been used in the sterling/mahrez back up role. if he starts alot more games next season, he is a great price. but if he’s being used as a sub for mahrez or sterling, not too sure about him yet

    • 32.2

What would your position and price be for him Punk?

      • PunkDragon says:

At the same position he played last season, 6-6.5 would have been a great differential pricing. Let the kid rise in value instead of putting that Manchester United premium of 1-1.5 on his price. The midfield is stacked this season. He would have hit a high ownership if his price was withing the 6-6.5 range. Also, if United sign more midfielders, it’ll be difficult to justify spending 7.5 on Greenwood.

      Smash says:

I’m ok with that price it’s not fantastic though I must admit. However if they sign another winger which I think they will do I don’t think I’ll go there to start

    Stone Frog says:

I think the key this season may be getting the right cheap forwards at the right time!
