Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 13

Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 13
It is another condensed GW this time around, beginning on Saturday at 12.30pm and finishing up on Sunday at around 6pm. We do however have a nice even split between the two days with five games on each.

The early game on Saturday sees Newcastle going down to Arsenal and this is followed by three at 3pm with Palace welcoming Villa, Liverpool welcome their feeder club Southampton and Wolves go to Norwich. Brighton and Leeds see us out on Saturday at 5.30pm.

Sunday begins at 2pm with four games running concurrently as Brentford welcome Everton, Spurs go to Burnley, Leicester host Watford and West Ham have the joys of a trip to Man City. We end at 4.30pm with a baptism of fire for Ralf as he takes his new troops to see Tuchel and co.

It is probably worth pointing out at this stage that GW14 is a midweek affair and the deadline for that one is 6pm on Tuesday.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 13 from all at FF247!

    (1) Will you get Alonso (alteady have James) or Regulion?
    (2) Which City mid (other than Foden) – Bilva or Gundo?

      1. No. I won’t be. But given the choice then Alonso all day long.

      2. Gundo may be on the cusp of a return to form, especially if KdB stays out of his way.

        (1) My plan is to sell Antonio and get may be King or someone (not sure if this week or next week) – to fund Kane/Lukaku for Vardy. After Vardy’s brace, I am not sure if I hold him vs Sou(Away). Kane got Brentford (H).
        (2) Foden is another headache.
        (3) Duffy is my 4th def., thinking to get a 4th one and go 4-4-2 (typically I play 3-4-3).

Does anyone know why Burnley and Spurs players haven’t been part of the auto subs? Stuck with Son in my team with White waiting to come in

Hmm, my new policy of restraint seems to be (timidly) paying dividends. Until recently I was an ever worrying ‘hit if it can get you there maniac’, but for past few GWs have been determined to advance at a ‘settled rate’, and in fact it has had immediate effects. Despite the lack of performance in some key areas, the rest have been there to ensure corresponding small green arrows. So rather than being tempted to oust the underperforming Edouard > King in order to fund Mount > Sancho, I shall wait another round, so as to make this move without penalisation, in the hope that Viera and Tuchel use my 2 existing players as lynch-pins of a mid-week offensive to regain points (which indirectly would have the same benefit for my team). This I know is just ‘back to FPL basics’, but is a milestone for the frivolous AJW! Cheerio one and all, I will be sitting on my hands until next weekend’s fixtures! 😉

By the way, I have a Jota in both FPL and Scottish ‘FFS’, and both scored coincidentally in parallel competitions this weekend! Can only make one smile – I will be waiting quite a while I think though, before having Kanes in either competition (I think the Scottish fellow is Chris Kane, which sounds way less glamourous than Harry Kane, but curiously both are strikers!). Ah the relevancy of irrelevant goss’! smile

Generations of fantasy managers are beaming down at you, AJW.

      • AJW says:

And thinking to themselves, ‘wow, he’s so slow – it’s only taken 5 or 6 years for the message to sink in!’ I see them as a parade of flashing faces, à la Macbeth by Polanski! (Prob is I’ve always got this Lady M voice nagging me to go one more -4 hit, and then the kingdom shall surely be mine! Perhaps a dog will pass through when that voice says ‘Out damn’d spot!’!!! ) smile Cheerio! smile P.S. Why does something so obvious seem so surprising to people like me??? smile

        • AJW says:

Smilies beaming out like stupid Xmas lights on my previous message! (And so it continued by day and by night!)

        • Leprechaun says:

          Hi AJW,

There is an old saying that “common sense is not so common”.
My fun is playing FFL whilst my day job is advising family offices. When it comes to investment, so many people talk about the winning decisions and cheerfully ignore the other “less successful” ideas.
In the context of my day job, I focus on protecting the portfolio and then working out how to build it with a strong eye on the risk.
In the context of FFL, it often seems like a good idea to take another 4ph in the hope that the gain will pay for it.
Like investments, it may pay off and it may not, but the risk is that the ranking slips.
Understanding the balance between the risk of loss and the risk of gain is all that matters.
In both cases, chasing last week’s winner, is not a good long term strategy.

        • AJW says:

          Thanks Leprechaun,

You’re right – that’s the way I tend to look at it too, but in fact after an unsuccessful WC (I didn’t change things enough, and through out a couple of babies with the bathwater!) and was chasing for a few weeks to get things back into the form I wanted. Now it’s time to hunker down I think.
Thanks for the advice matie! Cheers and have a good couple of GWs! 😉

          Oops, ‘threw out’!

for me its opposite.. i have been taken regular -4 hits but till now they were kind of necessary and have mostly paid off than doing only 1 transfer.
For a change will now save a FT now.

2ft 0.3 itb. Looking to get a Chelsea defender. Would you go something like coady to chalobah. Or sacrifice someone like son to do white/coady to Reece James?

    Veer says:

    Hello everyone,
Very fast turnarounds between GWs, am I good to go here? Or would you change the bench order/play Livra or Toney instead of the Arsenal boys?

Hoping for a green arrow at last now that I’ve got Trent
