Five gameweeks in already, how time flies when you’re having fun!

Gameweek 6 begins on Saturday this week, thank the good lord! (Pardew?). The normality ends there though as we have two 12.30 kick offs. Chelsea look to continue their solid form as they welcome Man City while Villa take the trip up the M6 to Old Trafford.

Why are United at 12.30pm but not on TV? Because The Courteeners are playing at Old Trafford Cricket Ground that night! These rock bands think they can Take Over The World!

Four 3pm matches follow as Everton hope the visit of Norwich may inject some momentum into their campaign, Antonio looks to single handedly destroy the Leeds defence, Leicester host Burnley and Newcastle take the long trip down to Watford where the Hornets might be asking the Geordies What Took You So Long?

The evening match sees miserly Brentford hoping to contain Salah & co who are eyeing another league title. Not Nineteen Forever then Reds?

Sunday sees two matches. First up is Wolves – with Adama Traore Cavorting (but not scoring) as they go to Southampton and then we have the NLD at The Emirates as Arsenal and Spurs fight it out to see who can be London’s worst club. Taking the perfect opportunity to slag both clubs in one sentence? No You Didn’t, No You Don’t!

Our gameweek ends on Monday as Palace draw swords with their arch enemies, Brighton. If you have FPL players in this one, Bide Your Time.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Interesting, just after one blank and Ronaldo is already in the departure lounge.
Could that be the expected Luka arrival with better fixtures smile

i ll keep him for everton and then sell to fund salah.
tough fixtures coming up and cr7 is not the problem but team has been poor in recent games. a loss to young boys, a last minute hard fought win vs west ham, now a terrible performance vs mediocre aston villa who even lost to wattford away

      • When CR7 arrived he stated clearly that the only aim is to win titles. After a small glitch is far to early for drastic moves. Many of these will regret and end up with unnecessary reverse transfers soon.

        • Reg83 says:

No way manu win the premier league title. They are 4th favorite behind manc chelsea and Liverpool.
Had moyes not done a Southgate and sub in noble to take a penalty manu would have been even further behind.

        • Smash says:

For me they won’t win the title while OGS is there. Just not elite like Klopp, Tuchel and Pep

        • Kralin says:

Yes I agree Smash, cf. Tuchel repacing Lampard.

I think United would suddenly become quite a different beast.

        • Reg, all those favourites and odds for who will win the title are pie in the sky.
Most likely the fight will be between the two Manchester clubs. I wouldn’t be surprised if City do it again, especially if the rumours are true that finally Haaland arrives in January.

I have moved Ronaldo on for Lukaku now myself for that very reason.

I am currently looking at trying to also bring Vardy in as he’s been very strong individually so far despite Leicester being poor.

I know it will hurt my TV over the next few weeks but I’m sticking with CR7. I’ve already got Lukaku anyway.

Not so great gw for everyone but next gw will be great because of lukaku(2 goals)

    Reg83 says:

Despite all the pep roulette, jesus seems to be immune to it. Has started each gw except gw1. Is he likely to start majority of the games? Or will he be a trap like torres was?

    • 51.1

I’m seriously looking at KDB. Watched him last night, best on ground and 100% reason City won.

Maybe not this week against Liverpool, but after int break

      Kralin says:

I’ve tuned City players out now, apart from Dias perhaps. I find it helps clarify who you do want to get, rather than having a weekly fret over whether a player will start. You’d be very brave to ever captain a City player.

With 2FT a week before I wildcarded I may take a punt, but even then.

      • Smash says:

Yeah owning Torres has been a pain I probably need to address

        • Kralin says:

I think their defence is the only area I feel confident enough to tread in. I did think of Torres but banished the thought quickly. At least there are some decent cheapish midfield options this year – Sarr,Raphinha, the Everton chaps, I daresay others. I wish Mount was more nailed.

        • I still have Torres. What to do with him? Hold another week?

        • Smash says:

Sarr and the Everton ones ha e got the points when they have played the weak sides there is a pattern there

        • Kralin says:

Yes (re weak sides) but when you’re picking a cheap player then it’s best not to be under illusions and of course try to grab the ones with ok fixtures – use them in bursts like that (rather than see them as permanent fixtures). Apart from Raphinha, maybe.

      • AJW says:

Good points there. But do we elect to keep some ‘good value’ City stock??? Or are they genuinely just reliably unreliable?
Thankfully I persisted in keeping Cancelo, who finally rewarded with 12 pts, but that’s just luck. I, like yourself, transgressed with a -4 hit this week, with Torres > Benrahma (the return, I don’t know why I actually sold in the first place – oh yes I do, it was for Torres!) and Bamf>Antonio (also a return to the team after a temporary and planned 1 week absence). I suppose it means 0 pts vs 11 (minus 4 for the hit) which is 7 pts better off. The glass is again 3/4 full (I like to be a little more optimistic than most! Although my Pukki punt is leaving me colder than a Finnish outdoor swimming carnival!).
Cheerio all – hope some good can come of this cursed game week! smile

        • AJW says:

By the way, watched the Liverpool v Brentford game yesterday and was greatly entertained by both teams. What a fabulous effort and what a lot of wasted opportunities from Mo and Co.! Brave little Brentford don’t seem to suffer any inferiority complexes vis à vis their more fêted opponents. Maybe Pukki will turn back into Toney in a couple of weeks (in my team that is, not some sort of on-field physical transformation!)! Bravo to the Bees (and to Liverpool for carrying off that amazing feat of wearing in quite a natural and unassuming manner, their yellow taxi/tacky tablecloth-style uniform! Imagine if you were dressed in that garb from head to toe, anywhere in the world but a football pitch?).
          Bye for now! 😉

        • Kralin says:

I think I’ve just trained myself to tune out City players. I daresay some will start more often than not. Last year I doubled on their defence and did OK – Stones and Dias I think. I’m pretty lazy so one less team to worry about suits me fine.

However Dias has crossed my mind, despite all this training to not think about them – a double Chelsea/TAA/Dias defence anchoring two cheap midfielders (Sarr, Raphinha) plus Salah then Antonio/Lukaku/Toney up top – seems all right.

Yes, good old Brentford. They’re on a crest of a wave at the moment. Once injuries start happening they may crash quite quickly – I remember Hull a few seasons ago started really brightly then went off the boil. Hopefully they will be all right.

        • Kralin says:

When I saw that Shaw and James had limped off I thought ‘I’m going to have to wildcard’ but will probably just move James on for another Chelsea defender and hope Shaw gets well soon and cross my fingers and toes that nothing goes wrong before the next GW.

If Bamford hadn’t been injured I wouldn’t have taken the hit but needs must. Sarr actually seems Raphinhaesque and for his price, suits me fine for a bit.

Pukki may be one to think of moving out. Norwich don’t seem in the best nick so you may as well dump him for someone cheaper perhaps and use the money elsewhere.

        • Smash says:

City don’t actually score as many goals as they used to. Cancelo and Dias look like decent options. Midfield just looks a mine field.

        • Reg83 says:

I feel Cancelo will play majority of games. They have only 3 full back.. Cancelo, Walker & Zinchenko after the Mendy issues. And Cancelo can play left or right back. Unless Pep decides to play Laporte as LB & Stones as CB..but that will be rare. I already have Dias & he has been a consistent 6-8 point man for me..Looking at a double up with Cancelo. I do have decent bench like Coady if Cancelo is rested.

      • OddDane says:

Cancelo and Dias both have played all 90 mins so far, and defense is currently where it is easier to fund decent back-up/rotational options.
I think that’s where my pick would be… If I get a break from putting out injury fires on my starting xi…

      Frenchie says:

That’s an interesting topic, and Jesus is currently in my wildcard draft, but it’s obviously the spot I’m not sure about at all! Similarly to other comments, I think midfielders are just too prone to rotation, Cancelo and Dias might be options in defense, but not completely convinced, I don’t like that Dias has very little attacking threat. Then Jesus is a big question mark, it feels like he could play most minutes, but even then will he score enough points? I really don’t know.

  4. 52
    Otieno says:

At last ( injuries permitting) I’ll be able to throw Amartey. Christenson I hope will be a good choice. And it might be sacrilege but what do you think about benching Trent for Duffy and going double in BHA next week?

    • 52.1
      Kralin says:

That’s a relatively low-risk punt. I quite like it. And as a double-up the following GW it may work too, though TAA will be back in your side by then.

I think moments like that, when they come off, make the game what it is – when one risks something nobody else is doing and it comes off.

  5. 53

I know it will be a long week with UCL and EL in it but thinking to roll the FT and have 2 for after the IB.
Or, is it finally time to do something about Torres?

    The B says:

Have we understood now that only Salah is Mr. Reliable as a captain?
