(Proper) football is back and we’ve reached Gameweek 9 which once completed will be exactly one-quarter of the way through the season, but seeing as we lost a lot of football for non-football reasons, technically it isn’t… that said, they probably won’t add any additional game weeks so let’s just stick with it!
The games!
The North London Derby (Arsenal v Tottenham) kicks off the weekend with a bang! A match which usually has lots of goals will be followed at 3 pm by games at Bournemouth, who host Brentford and another London derby over in Croydon (Selhurst Park) where Crystal Palace host Chelsea. Also at 3 pm, Fulham play Newcastle on the banks of the Thames, Liverpool at Anfield will be Roberto de Zerbi’s first match as new Brighton boss, and finally, Southampton host Everton at St Mary’s. Nothing but geographical facts.
West Ham United v Wolves at the London Stadium is the 5.30 pm match.
Sunday at 2 pm and it is time for the Manchester showdown at the Etihad followed by Leeds v Aston Villa at 4.30 pm.
On a weekend of derbies, Monday evening hosts the East Midlands one at the KP where Leicester and Forest get it on!

Well after a pathetic weekend, ruined by a minus 4 ‘double deal’, where I effectively shot myself in the foot with no need to do anything except sit on my hands and keep away from the transfer button, I’m now reeling in regret and self-loathing, while waiting for the appearance of the new messiah of King Power to bring a haul to save my game week.
Entitled, ‘Waiting for Maddison’, the theme of the week was getting rid of a bloke who didn’t need to leave my team until GW 12( Gabriel J!) , and going with the superfluous upfronter, who (as I was hoping) was ready to show what he had to the national coach for selecting him in the squad but not playing him, even on the bench (ie. Ivan Toney!!!)!
In reality, all I had to do was stick with the one (and necessary) trade of the injured Kulu to Maddison, and leave the rest alone! Now I’m staring at not only a -4, but a points difference of -7 (between Jesus and Toney), effectively creating, if my hopeless maths are correct, as a – 11 pointer for the GW!!! Come on Maddie – get in there for a brace AND maximum bonus points!
End of rant – yes I know it’s not always as bad as it seems, and one does tend to overexaggerate slightly in these instances!

Took a -4pt hit this week to swap Foden/DaSilva out to Zaha/Maddison (:fool: ….oh well!
Going forward, with fixtures from gw12 in mind, would you rather have….
1-Mitro & Salah
2-Kane & Luis/Foden
….Mitro injury depending obviously

Maddison has sure saved my bacon this week. It would have been dire without his gains and the 4ph I took to bring him in.
Took a -4pt hit to do DaSilva/Foden > Zaha/Maddison! Was gutted seeing Foden get a hatty and Zaha blank but Maddys output tonight has brought it back!
As a bonus he also put me 1pt ahead against the leader in my FF247 H2H and brought me back from loosing 90-73 to winning 90-91 in my cash H2H too
Hmm, maybe Ward gets his first 6 pointer tonight too? 😉

So annoyed with myself. Had in my head all the last week or two to get maddison for martinelli. Made a last minute decision to go for zaha instead as I felt he was more of an exciting pick. Bad decision or just hindsight?
