FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 9
Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 9
Just as Gameweek 8 is escorted politely off the premises, we have a quick five minute tea break and welcome Gameweek 9. It’s coming at us like a train as well and it begins with another (brilliant!) Friday night deadline.
We kick off at the Emirates as Arsenal welcome Aston Villa in what will be the Gunners second match within 95 hours.
Saturday lunchtime’s offering is Chelsea v Norwich City at SW6 and fear not about captaining Romelu Lukaku as this is not (technically) the early kick off, well it is an early kick off. You get the point. That and the fact that Salah blew that daft theory to pieces in Gameweek 8.
Saturday then continues at 3pm with matches at Crystal Palace – who welcome Newcastle, Everton – who host Watford in the Z Cars derby, Leeds entertain Wolves and Southampton roll out the welcome mat for Dyche’s Clarets.
Saturday evening is spent on the south coast as Brighton and Potter will be hoping to cast a spell over Pep and his charges at the Amex.
Brentford v Leicester is one of two 2pm matches on Sunday, the other being the Europa League v Europa Conference League showdown as West Ham play Tottenham at the London Bowl.
Super Sunday is a cracker – Manchester United v Liverpool – it’s what red wine, a roast dinner and a coal fire was designed for and we also get to see again ‘The Best Player In The World (currently)’ TM.
Oh and it may also be the death rattle of Ole as well.
The games in full…
Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.
Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 9 from all at FF247!

Going Havertz over Foden has proper annoyed me. Had Lukaku not got injured that was what I would have gone for
I know that sort of thing is a real pain. I saw the score was 7-0 yesterday and thought I must have got at least 30 points from my Chelsea players. Then I checked who’d scored.
At least the heat will be off Havertz this week. It’s a long-term game.
I’m actually tempted to ditch for Foden
Smash
Lukaku was to be my captain yesterday with James and/or Mount coming in. I had to completely alter my plans.
Sliding doors etc.
*felt I had to alter my plans maybe I should say.
Still backing Lukaku so long on the captaincy and him being quite unfortunate in those to NOT having him for the easy one is typical FPL.
Yeah that’s it
I know the feeling, mate. My last moves were initiated and influenced by those Chelsea injuries and I ended up with nothing but massive red arrows from them:
1) I did Rudiger (as I read that he could miss the Norwich game) to Dias (who was benched against Burnley). That’s why I didn’t go for Jota to Foden
2) then the plan was Jota to Foden and Semedo to James but Lukaku got injured and had to replace him as my bench is too thin. Therefore Lukaku to Vardy and got Havertz for a hit (to cover Chelsea attack) instead of Foden or James. I captained Kai as well. He was the only player in the Chelsea starting XI who blanked.
Starting to think about a back 5 of TAA, Cancelo, Dias, Rudiger & Chilwell offers the best value. Would take a while to set up and may well be a back 4 a lot of weeks due to rotation, but there seems to be plenty of points there.
It is quite tempting but not a fan of double double defense, personally. I am tinkering with some WC drafts and on most of them I end up with a back 4 of TAA, Dias, 2 out of James/Chilwell/Rudiger + Livramento.
From GW15 onwards, 5 at the back looks even better though, I think.
Just did this actually to spice things up as original picks were getting stale. Will see/let u know how it goes!
Sanchez
TAA/Cancelo/Chilwell/Rudiger/Livramento
Salah/Foden/Son/Mount
Vardy
Nice good luck
I think 4 of them is enough. All good options
Indeed they are all good options. Thinking Chillwell may be the most likely to be rotated? Although he is scoring well! Which 4 would you take? I guess there could be an argument for not getting TAA and using the cash?
Probably TAA, Chilly, Cancelo and one of Rudiger of Dias guess that depends which defence you prefer
Brentford v Leicester
West Ham v Spurs
Ivan, how about that Tielemans double cap??!! He’s been on fire.
Dan, I am not joking, when the lineups came up was going to say, a goal from Tielemans and Vardy blank.
Didn’t want to upset the crowd
haha don’t worry about the crowd mate, be free! Just like Hudson-Odoi, I’m only 2 years early
Well, 3 goals and 2 assists ain’t bad for a 6.4 mid, certainly better than frigging Havertz.
There are quite a few good fixtures ahead before they turn nasty over Christmas.
Now you’re talking ghosts again.. It’s an unfortunate week, 15 points on the bench as well, gotta take it on the chin and move on.
Worry not, Salah blank incoming. It will be alright on the night
Shush Ivan, shush!
Such heresy…!
Vardy is off in half time…….did not bother the scorers much whoever replaced Lukaku with him (including me).
Now Mbuemo is also off……that makes 2 points from 2 players. What a Sunday !!
I don’t know why I bothered to take Luka out, I should have kept him and rolled the FT.
Not sure who to replace Vardy with though.
Lukaku
Tbf think I’m hoping he’s back early
