Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

Fantasy football tips FPLTo help you decide or just confuse you a bit more, we have asked 3 of our writers to pass judgment on what players you would do well to pick up and what players are better left out of the fray. We hope this is a simple straight forward formula that can assist you in your decision making as we ride out this International Break. I avoided including players like Siggy, Di Maria or Costa as there is really no point. There seems to be overwhelming consensus on these cats.
Grab – You need this player on your squad. On the Def/Keeper categories if they select Grab, they will give us a name or two from said team. Eg. Grab De-Gea
Avoid – It’s a trap don’t get suckered in.
Bore off – If you have him play him, if you don’t have him don’t bother getting him. Really not worth the extra effort.
Then again they may just go off piste and ramble regardless!

    Morning all

Well that’s screwed me over- Sahko was 60-70& to rise on all 4 sites last night & still went up!

Guess my 8pt hit plan for Baines has now gone out of the window & i’ll just have to stick with Ulloa to Welbeck for free.

Oh for a world without broken price prediction algorithms!

      Calvin Clyne says:

Unlucky Hammers. Was FF Fix one of the four that you refer to? I checked last night for Welbeck and saw Sakho was high up on it but didn’t notice if he was at 100 or not.

And I’m 100% with you on hating the uncertainty of it all. How others can like it is beyond me! Especially if it’s not just a case of annoyingly losing out on 0.1 but actually not being able to make the transfers you wanted as in your case. But at the same time we’ve all been burned a few times by it now so we can’t be surprised at it any more; if you can’t afford any more price rises then you have to bite the bullet and make those transfers ASAP as there is just no telling with this crazy system! I have a vision of a guy sat in an office at FPL towers just flipping a coin each night for each player as to whether he rises or not..

      • hammers says:

LOL . I have that vision too & yes FF Fix was one of them. They actually had one of my other players as a definite faller but no one else had him anywhere close to it (he didnt drop) so rumours that they were the most accurate are way off.

The others i checked were FPL Statistics, Total FPL & FISO.

Could be a blessing in disguise though as I will save myself 8 pts & hopefully Danny boy will do the business

Moral of the story : rely on them at your peril

Morning hammers, I checked FFFix just after 11 last night and Sakho was at just over 98%

        • hammers says:

You stay up later than me!

        • Horse says:

          Hi Kop

Thank you for sharing about the FFFix site.
I had a good look at it last night and wrote down the players with predicted rises/falls

Last night players predicted to go up were
          Sakyo

Players who actually did go up last night were
          (block letters for correct predictions)
          SAKYO

Last night players predicted to go down were
          HBA
          Traore
          Albrighton
          Reid (Bur)
          Ki
          Chambers (WHU)
          Ince Evans
          Potts
          Larsson
          Stephens
          Szczesney
          Campbell
          Sidwell

Players who actually did go down last night were
          (block letters for correct predictions)
          TRAORE
          KI
          INCE
          Dier
          Noble
          Olsson
          Faurlin

So FFFix nailed the risers last night and and predicted 3/8 of the fallers.

Moral: FFix are more accurate than FISO or Total FPL. but still need some tweaking on the fallers.
          I will check again tonight.

          Hope this helps
          Horse

        • Kop Warrior says:

Nice one Horse. What did you make of the site?

We’ll hopefully have an article written by the lads at FFFix detailing their site later in the week.

        • Horse says:

I like it Kop especially the transfers section with the map of the main transfers.
          It is fun.
I like the idea of getting them to manage your team for you for the whole season.
I might do better than I currently am smile

        • hammers says:

I actually like the site Kop, however i think the squad optimisation is a bit dubious.

Me & 2 friends tried it out last week & despite as all having fairly different teams (apart from the midfield) it suggested to all of us that our best transfer would be to bring in Fonte which was a strange one.

Seems like they have got the prices rises cracked then ( i just need to stay up later) hopefully they will sort the fallers out soon

        • Kop Warrior says:

I think they’re still doing a lot of testing so they’ve probably got a few things to iron out.

        • Horse says:

I agree with Hammers on the squad optimisation.
I tried the wildcard option and my team was heavily waited towards defence with Costa, Ulloa and Vardy up top.

Do you guys think Pelle/ Welbeck are a must?

    • 26.2
      Calvin Clyne says:

I hardly think there is ever a must in FF; maybe two or three a year. People have been going on about must-haves since GW1, where it was Siggy, then he goes and blanks for two or three and suddenly he’s droppable apparently. Same has been said about Fab, ADM, Baines etc. Surely the definition of a must-have is someone you MUST HAVE otherwise you will significantly suffer without them. Neither of those players are in that category yet, but they both offer incredible value for the return you are likely to get from them. I’ll be having the pair of them.

      • Gerrardslipped says:

agreed – not having costa is the only thing that would have meant you losing ground on your opponents. there’s a lot to choose from this year elsewhere. The general aim still remains the same – try and have 7 big-hitters in your side at all times. 2 strikers, 4 mid, 1 def. or another combo but always try for at least 2 big strikers. if you manage your TV well there is a chance for 8 big-hitters but take a look at everyone’s teams around you – you will see 7 more often than not. I am eyeing up this as my 7, with chadli and welbeck in there too as an arguable 8th:

        baines – ivan
        di maria, fabregas, Sigurdsson
        costa, falcao
