Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!
To help you decide or just confuse you a bit more, we have asked 3 of our writers to pass judgment on what players you would do well to pick up and what players are better left out of the fray. We hope this is a simple straight forward formula that can assist you in your decision making as we ride out this International Break. I avoided including players like Siggy, Di Maria or Costa as there is really no point. There seems to be overwhelming consensus on these cats.
Grab – You need this player on your squad. On the Def/Keeper categories if they select Grab, they will give us a name or two from said team. Eg. Grab De-Gea
Avoid – It’s a trap don’t get suckered in.
Bore off – If you have him play him, if you don’t have him don’t bother getting him. Really not worth the extra effort.
Then again they may just go off piste and ramble regardless!

I wish I could loan money from fpl and upgrade Welbeck to Aguero and then never pay back.
In that case, I’d buy Zamora and upgrade him to Aguero
Makes me wonder – a loan system would make the game interesting, wouldn’t it?
Yeah it really would!
There’s a loan system in UFPL.
Online gambling is not allowed in Norway, so I can’t play UFPL.
Ruben, I played the Beta version last year but didn’t bother signing up to play it this year. You’re not missing much.
Oh good.
Does anyone think its a good idea to get Wilshere in as a fifth defender ? Arsenal has some good fixtures ahead and he is quite cheap for an attacking midfielder.
I think he be great as a fifth defender because that would make him oop. 😉 but to answer your question seriously, it be hard to justify bringing him in. He is just too injury prone and Arsene has inexplicably lined him up as a holding mid (which he is not) way too many times for me to be comfortable with. I know he plays more advanced sometimes, but that does not seem a sure thing.
True that. Still searching for a fifth mid to replace Puncheon. Downing perhaps ? Already got Siggy, Sterling, ADM, Chadli.
Oh shit how did I write defender …Lol

Fellas,
Your legendary advice and expertise is required.
So, yes, Chambers is suspended (only for one game). However, is there some more pressing issues at hand? I could replace Chambers with the ever perfect Leighton but will reduce my capability with the forward line in future. Do I just replace Chambers with another cheap defender, or shall I go all out with the high costing Def? Azpil, Zab, Koscielny?
I’ve got 1 free transfer with 5.6mill in the bank.
50 shades…5.6mln in the bank? Get spending man!! Leave Chambers, as you say, he only misses one match and they have decent games after this week. Plus Debuchy is still injured.
I would sell Caulker for Baines
I replaced Rooney with Sakho. My only issue is when I want to upgrade an attacker and leaving a decent amount of funds available to get a decent one. I was banking on Caulker being as good as he was last year, but QPR are horrendous!
What is the selling value of your teams? Mine is 101.1m, which is pretty decent considering I haven’t used my WC yet. Was fearing I’d be far below 100 after the first few GW’s. Team value is 103m and selling value is 101.1m. Last one is the one that counts. Although, the players that have risen through the roof you’re not likely to sell them unless they injure themselves. 😉
Aaah yes, noticed something funny (early this week). Seven out of ten ranked in the top ten overall ranking have used their wildcards already. I still have mine. Must be an advantage right? Not saying I will reach the top 10, lol. Hell no. But if 7 out of the 10 in the top ten used it, I bet a lof of people within the top 3k used it as well. Which is where I am at right now.
54.4% WC played and 45.6% available from the top 10k (GW7 deadline data).
See Raz – I always said you are one in 4.5k!
Oi Cookie. That’s uncool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >.<
Selling value 101.5mln Raz…not much in it, team value 103.4 for what its worth.
You’re doing great mate, must be those monkeys bringing you some good vibes and fortune.
That’s good Cookie. That’s the value you probably should have after a wildcard though. And I think you will maintain it and keep building on it. My luck is that I choose the right players at the right time, so even without using a WC they helped my team value rise drastically. Think with the pricechange rules from last season the value would’ve been higher, but not sure. I have an idea it’s much harder for players to drop now. On that note, Pieters drop came out of nothing, was so f-ing annoying. Replaced him with Baines but now I can only afford a 4.4m defender as replacement for Dummett. If I replace Hutton I could get a 4.5m defender but I think with Vlaar returning and Villa getting better fixtures at the moment it would be silly to sell him.
Mine’s only 100.4m, I fear Ii could be in trouble later in the season.
I see what you mean Kop. But if you have the right players at the right time the value maybe doesn’t matter all that much. If I look at my front 7, I don’t see any changes I need to make. Well, maybe Kun in but I also like Pelle and Falcao… Hard choice. Kun exploding is a big fear for me, when I have him I also fear he explodes but than it’s usually one of his muscles that blows up. 😉
Somehow I’ve managed to get an SV of 102.00
I usually try to make a few £ early on by taking hits but seeing as prices aren’t really flying around this year i haven’t employed that tactic.
In my case, I have 9 players from that are premium this season or from premium teams. Problem is most people have the same front 7. In my case it’s DiMaria,Sterling,SIggy, Fabregas,Falcao,Pelle,Diego Costa. Don’t consider Everton to be a premium team at the moment but I do consider Baines to be a premium player (he makes 8). Chambers is still from a decent team called Arsenal and once their fixtures will be more kind he could be useful (also as a rightback he seems to make good runs and released a few nice shots on goal). So Chambers makes 9. Last, my goalie is Forster, he has great fixtures ahead and he’s done really well and well in all honesty I really rate Soton this season. So 10 players that could play almost every game if needed. So I just need to build around them. Sadly Chambers won’t start next game though.
Aaah yes, my point. Even though SV is important during wildcards. Are we really going to completely change our teams when they’re already completely set up?
raziel – good in theory but come on, no-one builds around 10 players. give it a week or 2 and you’ll be wanting kun for falcao or something similar!
My team is build around 7 players at the moment and though a few changes might be made I will stick with most of em. Especially the midfield, don’t see why I would want to change that. I can do a Sterling to Walcott (which is all affordable). So yeah, I feel I have a strong core. Baines also looks like a season keeper.
My TV is 103.3.
My SV is 101.3.
what is this crazy idea that SV matters a lot more than TV? Both are equally important…but arguably TV is more so. TV signifies that you have gained rises before they happen on a number of players and this makes it hard for your opponents to afford those players if they don’t already have them. My TV is 104.5m (I haven’t calculated SV but reckon it’s probably about 102m? anyway – I my squad to the squad of one of my closest rivals for an experiment and compared to his 0.1m left in the bank, I had 1.9m. That would theoretically enable me to upgrade a Moreno to a baines or whatever. big difference and it’s more down to TV than SV
good point Gerrardslipped, I agree
You’re morphing into Raz chatting away to yourself!
Bottom line is that selling value and team value are ineffective and unrealised until you sell one or more of your players who has helped create that value.
So yeah, it’s great if you brought Fabregas, or Di Maria or Siggy (prob all 3!) early doors, but it doesn’t equate to more money to spend unless you sell them. Just means your opponents, if they don’t already have them, may be unable to buy them all.
yeh cookie I agree in part and why SV is, in my opinion less important… if you’re players are going up in value it’s because they are doing well and you’re therefore not likely to sell them. but if you have adm go up in TV by 0.5 or 0.6 as he has done and a competitor doesn’t have him then it puts you at an advantage. so TV is effective whether you may any changes or not because it affects your opponents
that’s exactly what I said gerrardslipped – so, in effect when looking at your own side it is meaningless on its own….until you want to sell your crown jewels.
sorry cookie – gotcha
I replaced Rooney with Sakho. My only issue is when I want to upgrade an attacker and leaving a decent amount of funds available to get a decent one. I was banking on Caulker being as good as he was last year, but QPR are horrendous!
Stupid phone ^
50shades, with 5.6mln to splash, you need to decide where you want to spend it. Wouldn’t go far wrong with Caulker to Baines and Sakho to Welbeck….?
