Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18

The International break gives us all the first opportunity to sit back and assess how we have fared so far. For some it’s a time of quiet reflection, for others it’s time for a Wildcard! Either way it’s a nervous time for fantasy managers as they wait and see if their stars return in one piece from their journeys far and wide. This particular break also sees the transfer window close so much can change, players will be added, some will be waved goodbye. We’ve decided to take a bit of a break ourselves for a few days but before we do we have asked a few of our regular writers to reflect on their own seasons so far, their fantasy plans and also their take on the season in general. Between them Cookie, Mito and Kop have had a good degree of success in fantasy games in the past. Now ok, that may be in Fantasy Cycling, Fantasy MLS and Fantasy NFL but it all still counts yeah? Yeah? No?! Well ok, Mito and Cookie have anyway. Kop just seems to enjoy playing these days. But as long as he’s happy, we’re happy, and all that… Joking aside, these lot follow football day in, day out and you’d be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable or dedicated trio. So, let’s go see how their Fantasy PL seasons are going…

Hi guys, which is the better combination in your opinion?
    Willian/Pedro & Jesus or D.Silva & Morata

    Which of these is better…

    1) Willian, Jesus & Lukaku – current team
    2) Pogba, Jesus & Morata – means no Lukaku!
    3) Willian, Morata & Lukaku – means no City cover, 7.3 available to change Willian

I am looking to get rid of William. Hazard is back soon so his game time will drop. Went to get rid before a price drop

Option 2.Lukaku is a flat track bully and his away record is questionable,so looking at his upcoming fixtures I’m not sure how many of those games I’d be confident sticking the armband on him, apart from Palace at home.So if you arent going to captain a player that costs 11.5m you might aswell get rid in my opinion, though risky due to his high ownership,Morata could easily match or outscore him over the next 8 games.

Cheers Brooky. Although not sure that’s what I wanted to hear!!! I thought Lukaku was gonna be a season keeper, so the prospect of ditching him so early seems crazy. I do like the balance that it provides though. Not sure whether to start moving in that direction now, or wait for the GW7 IB, and probable WC.

        • Brookyboy says:

Yeah I think if I was on a wc now I’d considering going without him with a view to bringing him back in when United’s fixtures soften up again. Also if he loses pens after missing at the weekend that will be a negative against him.I’m gonna hold him for now but I want Firmino soon and with Morata hitting form and Vardys fixtures turning for the better soon either him or Kane will have to make way.

Media here in Greece say that Swansea agreed terms with Bayern Munich for Renato Sanchez on a year loan, due to the good relations Paul Clement has with Carlo Ancelotti.

Playing around with transfers and on my screen it shows Hegazi to sell at 4.6 but buy at 4.8. Surely it should be 4.7 to sell, not that I am going to sell yet. Anyone else who has got him showing the same figures? Is it just a gremlin or is FPL in rip off mode?

Great article chaps. The advice re WC playing when drunk was a few days too late! New team below, so please feel free to rip to shreads.

Nearly time to exit the jungle. Awesome! And in an exercise of pure brilliance my next contract has just come through; Alaska. Seriously you couldn’t make it up.
