Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2018-19
Whilst we all hate International Breaks to disrupt our FPL flow they are at least good for one thing and that’s an opportunity to put some of our favourite FPL managers on the spot and ask them a few pertinent questions. This week though we’ve decided to give them a break and have instead drafted in some others… 😉
First up is everybody’s favourite professional Geordie. Long gone are the days of steel workers and miners filling the terraces of Newcastle, your modern day Toon hero is a bit of a lush who drinks Prosecco most nights and takes showers with his dogs, apparently! Except of course on a Sunday, on the tipple front anyway, no idea about his pet shower schedule! Guinness or Newcastle Brown you ask? Noooooo… champagne, naturally! A warm welcome to Rosco.
To be fair to our second contestant if he was ever called a ‘favourite’ he’d take it as an insult as he makes a living out of being everybody’s worst nightmare. He’ll hate me saying this though: he’s actually a genuinely nice guy in real life! Please welcome the sheep in devil’s clothing that is Mito. A frosty welcome to Mito!
Our final contestant (no idea why I keep calling them contestants, but let’s roll with it!) is a bit of an enigma. He’s well known in FF247 circles but mainly ‘behind the scenes’ as he’s our main IT brain. He’s been slow to make a name for himself in the front of house community but has been taking baby steps in that direction this season. Probably doesn’t help that whenever he does some smart arse (Mito) usually welcomes him to the site as a newbie! He’s actually a member of the FF247 Site Team committee, and provides us with invaluable copy each week, albeit often unintentionally! A warm welcome to Floydeth.
Ok, let’s get it on!

Guys what to do here?
I was thinking either Bennett and sterling for mendy and mahrez for -8 or just Bennett for mendy for -4. Or maybe wild card?
I think it’s WC time. With your sickies, Its not worth taking hits since you have to use WC by 29th December.
I owned Mendy and bit the bullet wildcarding. A straight swap to laporte is probably the best transfer for mendy. I really like your 1st 11 so would swap Stephens and peltier for regular starters. Bennett along with billing/obiang/camarasa. You can also waste plenty of time tinkering
PL clubs have agreed to introduce VAR next season
Team full of penalty takers it is then!!
Milivojevic will be £10m next year
It’s going to have folk tearing their hair out!
Won’t be a problem for you though, right?
Nope. I’ll tear a Cookie’s out instead. No, that won’t work either. Hmmm…..
Do you think it’s a bad thing Kop? Seemed to work fairly well in the World Cup and hopefully the few small lessons that needed to be learned have been since, from that, the subsequent trials over here and also the live examples in other top flights such as Italy.
No, I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing but I don’t think it’s going to be the panacea that some think it will.
Should sort out 99% of the ‘obviously wrong’ ones though, which is sort of its point. Not hearing much negative about it from abroad, wherever it’s been implemented.
The problem is, VAR is only as good as the monkeys using it.
I hadn’t heard that bit. That’s innovative of them!
I think it’s a novel idea.
Var has stunk here in MLS, to be fair to var though, Americans are over it and that doesn’t help.
Arnold With a goal
My first effort at a wildcard team with a couple of ‘different’ picks thrown in. Any comments/suggestions welcome.
Mostly looks solid but surely you can do better than Gray and Rondon! They’re not especially cheap either
hi Cimon
Some nice pics there. How about Dunk over Zabaleta? Sane I’d pass on. Rondon is tough. It feels wrong but he is cheap I guess. I’ve gone a different route of a 4.4 million midfielder, which gives 1m (over Grey). Decide on 3 strikers or 5 mids. Its half way house now
“Neymar hopes to act as a mentor to fellow Brazilian Richarlison” Time to sell Rich then…

Neymar’s a legend. In his own mind. I’d like nothing better than the young pretender to come in and overtake him as the ‘star player’, to mirror what’s happened at PSG.
Cue fanfare.
(Then realises it’s the wrong week.)
And where’s danny, when we don’t need him…..
