Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2021-22

International break time always means one thing, GABO time!

This mostly passive aggressive panel was filled with our fearless feared leader Init, Rosco, who after only one week of doing Init’s site duties needed a therapist and GP who tries to always be nice, but has been sneaking in snarky comments on the site. With a crazy first few gameweeks and a crazy transfer window to boot, there is certainly a lot of questions when it pertains to fpl that we all probably have. I have asked once again on the site for any in particular you might want answered and have included the ones I could that were not addressed in other questions.

Well, without further ado, let us see what the boys had to say.

Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!. This article was written by Mito21.

    Hey guys,

Another attempt at a big 3 wildcard with TAA in there too.

Didnt think it was that bad but doubt I will go with it in all honesty

    Chipster says:

Thanks for the GABO guys. I enjoyed reading that.

Need some advice re: CHE defense.
    A. Top 3 most nailed
    B. Top 3 highest points potential
    C. Alonso or James?

I’m on WC and have put Alonso in, but now considering getting James instead and just riding out his suspension. Is that crazy?

    Chipster says:

Hey guys. Here’s my WC team. £0.0 itb. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Torres aside, I realise the mids are weak, but they are primarily bench cover as I don’t intend changing the formation. I feel this is the optimum way to fit in the three premium fwds.

      Kralin says:

It’s wonderful. Best and most original wildcard side I’ve seen so far.

In your shoes I would trim a couple of the defenders – not the premium ones – down to likely looking 4.5s and upgrade Hojberg. Someone like Raphinha at the least or on the Jota level if possible.

Only other thing is Salah and rotate Lukaku and Ronaldo. But that I fear clashes with your plan.

      Stone Frog says:

Nice and original. I would try and upgrade Hojbjerg somehow. Maybe Gray is in reach without changing too much or Raphinha if you can.

      Smash says:

Refreshing approach. Don’t think you can play Hojberg so need to upgrade to Raph by downgrading a defender for me

      Nice one Chips!!
Love Kane with the armband, he has 7 goals against Place and Spurs are unbeaten against them in the last 12.
Be careful with City. Last year in GW 4 Leicester won 5-2 as visitors. One of the favourite teams for Vardy who has 9 goals against them wink

i would dias instead of cancelo.. more safe
and atleast get gray for hojberg & downgrage one of the defenders to coady for eg

    Good morning everyone!

Elleffcee gave me a sound advice to replace Ings, Bruno and Toney with DCL, Torres and Ronaldo but, unfortunately, I am priced out (0.1 M short) now, so these are no longer possible.

2 FTs, 1.3 M. I am pretty set on Ings to Ronaldo but what’s the best way to fund it (I am willing to take a -4 hit if necessary) ?

    Cheers

      Kralin says:

I’d reconcile yourself to keeping Toney for now – I don’t see any pressing need, personally, to move him on, given his nailedness and importance to Brentford – and just do what many others have been doing – Ings to Ronaldo and Fernandes to whoever floats your boat. Torres is proving popular on this forum.

    Otieno says:

Any news on how bad Sancho’s ankle is ?

    • 29.1
      Smash says:

I think I heard it was just a knock and expected to be fine for Newcastle game

    • 29.2

Otieno, this is from Manchester Evening News

Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions played Hungary on Thursday night, but Sancho didn’t make the bench after picking up the injury.
It was announced on Saturday that Sancho has now been withdrawn from the England squad, which means the 21-year-old will return to Manchester United ‘s Carrington training ground to continue his rehabilitation – the knock isn’t thought to be serious and he’s expected to make a quick recovery.
Sancho is expected to recover in time for United’s game against Newcastle on Saturday, September 11

Great stuff guys, i do love a GABO article

Hit the WC button on B team, any thoughts on this?
    0.5m itb

      Smash says:

Sorry Not a fan tbh. Too many risks. The back line could lose their places at any time. Laporte to Stones, Christensen to Silva, Spurs have signed a new RB who will likely play over Tanganda

    • 30.2
      Kralin says:

I’m a bit sniffy about B teams. I don’t mind them if managers are playing larky XIs, like teams only in red or whose names begin with Z or whatever, or those who use them for experimentation (unusual line-ups, etc).

Otherwise, when I encounter them in any ml I’m in I tend to protest as I see them as cheating I’m afraid.

Maybe your A side is an experimental side?

    • 30.3
      photek says:

I don’t see the problem with running 2 teams, anyone in my ML is allowed a 2nd team if they so wish and quite a few of my friends have 2 teams too, others find 1 is enough to run. We do it to boost up the cash pot.
Yeah one team can play it safe and the other be more riskier if you so wish.

I was hoping the team would be judged more on its merits than whether its an A, B or Z team. I take on board the defenders rotation risk. Thanks anyway

      • Reg83 says:

In the name of fair play, it should be 1 team even according to official FPL rules.

if B team is experimental, u can put anyone.

        • Reg, that is bullshit
There is nothing wrong with having a second (B) team. I have done it for the last 10 seasons. It is a bit of a fun on the side, and yes, mostly experimental. Normally you spend much less time on it and more careless and aggressive with hits.
If FPL want to have rules, they should pay attention to the thousands of weekly cash price teams (mostly from the Middle East and lately UK) appearing and then disappearing every GW.
