Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2018-19

Usually when we ask our writing team to come forth for an International Break GABO we see tumbleweeds in abundance, and little sign of actual writers. This time however, for whatever reason, they were literally scrambling over each other to get involved. So much so that we have no less than two episodes of GABO to bring you in the break this time. We’ve decided to split them based upon perceived personality traits; Glass Half Full & Glass Half Empty. We say perceived personality traits… it was actually based solely on their original answers on WhatsApp to our request for entrants. Funnily enough, it was unerringly accurate.

First up then we have AT, Swirly and Rosco. AT and Swirly’s answers were very similar; when would you like it done by? As you’d expect. Rosco’s answer was a ‘brown thumb’…. which we took to mean a positive sign, others took it… well, we shall leave that to your own imagination.

Welcome to all, from the glass is half full club….

Morning all! Kane or no Kane? Which would you go for 1 or 2?

Or 2, sorry messed up my comments!

      • inittowinit says:

2 looks better balanced to me. Schneiderlin has no place on any team, never mind a FH one smile

        • Zed Leppelin says:

It’s just that teams can’t get the most of him, like Everton now, he was absolutely fantastic at Soton! :p

        • inittowinit says:

Perhaps that was his level. Point was fantasy related though, stick him in the Man City Team for all I care, I still wouldn’t pick him.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Yeah I know what you meant was just messing with you smile I wouldn’t touch him in FPL either, of course not, but still it’s a fact that he was great at Soton and then not so great at United, not unlike Lambert at Pool, or even Lallana although he had that one good season at Pool…

What do you mean by “his level” though, the last season he played for us was 14/15 when we finished 7th, 13pts above 11th Everton, 2pts behind Liverpool… Soton had a GD of +21 that season compared to Liverpool +4 and Spurs +5, only 4 goals shy of United +25… 😉 Short memory or what?

        • inittowinit says:

Ah yeah, apologies. I forgot that season, no idea how, it should be etched in all of our memories. The glorious 7th, etc.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

We finished 6th the year after in 15/16 (without Schneiderlin, perhaps he wasn’t so good after all :smirk: ). It’s the glorious sixth, the year Soton was Top-6 😉 😆

    Good morning all

Any advice on what to do with this lot? I used my FH last week, should have kept it for this week. Lesson learned! Currently top of my ML however not by much.

Please rate my team, still not sure about my triple captain choice, Hazard?

      Zed Leppelin says:

That’s a decent non-FH team! With regards to the Triple Captain chip, I don’t know but I would definitely feel safer with a City boy as my TC as City will most likely score more goals than Chelsea, although most of Chelsea’s goals should come through Hazard, I am probably capping Sterling because he’s in such a great form so I would suggest him as TC as well, I feel Jesus poses more threat to Aguero than Mahrez poses to Sterling although I feel both will start given City need to win to win the title! So Sterling for me I think, based on his great form!
