It’s that time again folks; T minus two weeks or so and counting! Many FPL players pick their initial team based chiefly on last season’s form, others on as many big names as possible (with the necessary accompanying threadbare bench), while yet others have a noticeable bias towards players from their supported team (Kop does NOT approve!). The serious FPL player will select their starting 15 based on a wide range of factors however, not least of which are the fixtures.

With that in mind I’ve updated and improved the season-long tracker a few people seemed to find useful last year. This lets you choose how difficult each fixture is and displays appropriate colours as an easy visual guide – much like the tracker on the site except that it shows the whole season and is interactive. I’ll give a brief outline of how it works here but there are instructions in the tracker too and there’s a link to a video explaining it at the bottom.

You start by grouping together teams of similar ability, such as putting Arsenal, Chelsea, City and United in Level 1. Last season you could put teams in 4 different groups, but now you can place them in anything from 3 to 10 groups depending on how detailed you want to get. This way you could even have Chelsea in a category all on their own if you consider them to be that much better than their rivals for example.

Next comes the other upgrade from the first tracker – last season you were limited to having 5 colours represent the different matches, but now you can choose between 3, 5 or 7. After you make your choice you will then decide how difficult you rate each match between teams of different groups. When you have finished you can select the Fixtures Tab and all of the colours there will have updated to be specific to your own ratings. These can be changed as often as you like, and indeed should be updated as the season goes on to account for changes in teams’ forms.

Well ive finally got myself a team that ime happy with. I cant see this changing before the season starts in 2 weeks so i thought id write a little about my choices.

Cortouis — Ive decided to go with 1 strong GK throughout the season this year and it was a toss up between Cortouis and Cech. Ive decided to go with Cortouis as a believe chelsea have the stronger defence and at 5.5m hes a great way into Chelsea.

Clyne — Ive basicaly chosen Clyne for his attacking abilitys. I think he will do great this season and at 5.5m i think he could match the likes of Coleman and Ivanovich on points.

Cedric — is another RB that i think could be great for points. So far this pre season he has a goal and 4 assists ( i think) and if he can carry that form on into the season he could be great value.

Richards — is again another RB that could offer an attacking threat. He was a great young talent a couple of years back and ime really hoping at 4.5m he could be a bargain.

Mane — Southampton have a great start to the season and ime really hoping to capatilize on Mane. I know not many people will pick him in my fantasy so i hoping hes a good differential.

Walcott — Well the stats speak for them selfs and like all of you ime just hoping he gets the nod up top, or even secures game time.

Sterling — Great little player with huge potential which ime hoping Aguero and Silva bring out. Ime hoping he has a great season this year and i truly believe he will be up there with the big pointers come the end.

Richie — ill admit this is my gamble this season, but 15 goal and 15 assists last season cant be ignored. I just hope he carrys his form over into the prem and this could be a great gamble.

Costa — what can i say.., the guy knows how to score.

Rooney — Ime hoping for a fantastic seasob of Rooney this year. LVG has given him the nod to play up top, and Rooney himself has set him self a task of 20 goals, so ime happy.

Benteke — Liverpool needed a goal scorer and that exactly what this guy is. Benteke can only do better at liverpool and at 8.5m hes a bargain.

    Subs — O’shea, Morgan, Wanyama

The customisable fixture tracker was my favourite FPL tool last year so thank you for the updated version!
