Interactive Fantasy Football Fixture Tracker 2015-16

It’s that time again folks; T minus two weeks or so and counting! Many FPL players pick their initial team based chiefly on last season’s form, others on as many big names as possible (with the necessary accompanying threadbare bench), while yet others have a noticeable bias towards players from their supported team (Kop does NOT approve!). The serious FPL player will select their starting 15 based on a wide range of factors however, not least of which are the fixtures.

With that in mind I’ve updated and improved the season-long tracker a few people seemed to find useful last year. This lets you choose how difficult each fixture is and displays appropriate colours as an easy visual guide – much like the tracker on the site except that it shows the whole season and is interactive. I’ll give a brief outline of how it works here but there are instructions in the tracker too and there’s a link to a video explaining it at the bottom.

You start by grouping together teams of similar ability, such as putting Arsenal, Chelsea, City and United in Level 1. Last season you could put teams in 4 different groups, but now you can place them in anything from 3 to 10 groups depending on how detailed you want to get. This way you could even have Chelsea in a category all on their own if you consider them to be that much better than their rivals for example.

Next comes the other upgrade from the first tracker – last season you were limited to having 5 colours represent the different matches, but now you can choose between 3, 5 or 7. After you make your choice you will then decide how difficult you rate each match between teams of different groups. When you have finished you can select the Fixtures Tab and all of the colours there will have updated to be specific to your own ratings. These can be changed as often as you like, and indeed should be updated as the season goes on to account for changes in teams’ forms.

The link to the tracker itself is here:

How are we all? Care to RMT this lot.

    Courtois (Rudd/Hennessy)
    Mert, Cedric, Alderw, Turner, Mings
    Haz, Sterling, Ramsey, Milner, Albrighton
    Rooney, JRod, Deeney
2.5 itb for Roo > Kun

Obviously still up in the air over 5th mid, Milner vs Chadli, and Toby. Any thoughts?

Alright Colriles, much prefer Liverpool’s fixtures to Spurs’ for the first 7 GWs, where they have 4 nice home games, so would keep Milner over Chadli to begin with. Apparently Alder and Vert used to be central partners so if they can gel again 5.0 could be great value. Spurs were woeful in defence last season though so would probably avoid him at first, especially if Lloris doesn’t recover in time for GW1.

      Other than that nice team.

      Andy says:

How about a Kun plan discussion.

If you ain’t taking him for GW 1 will you really want to bring him in for GW 2 against Chelsea? That extra 2.5 in the kitty could be used on Albrighton to Payet for the first two GW’s, as long as you’d be willing to save a FT from the first week (this could prove difficult to do for most of us I’d imagine).

Cheers CC & Andy. Amazing work on the fixture tracker CC, must admit I stare at spreadsheets all day and this one’s got me confused! I’ll check out the video and get it sorted

Hadn’t gotten that far on Kun! Just know that if I spend the leftover kitty in the first 2 weeks it’s a bitch to bring him back. If it’s straight Roo > Kun in week 2 then I want the funds to be there. Haven’t really studied points potential for different 4th mid / 3rd striker if I spend the cash upfront.

Btw, you two should be doubles partners, no? Team Calvin & Hobbes?

      • Calvin Clyne says:

Cheers Colriles. Yeah we’ve picked up on that before! Alas Chins is already my partner. I’ve been trying to make him change his grav to be the Hobbes to my Calvin but no luck so far 😉

    PeterPan says:

Which 2 would you pick out of these defenders?
O’Shea, Ward, Richards, Yoshida, Francis, Mings, Huth, Coloccini, Bassong, Kaboul, Rangel, Cameron
(Yes Im listing off the 4.5m defenders)

    • 38.1

@Peter is this to rotate or start both?

      • PeterPan says:

Well looking at either having Cedric and Alderweierld and rotating 2 of them or just Cedric and getting 4 of them

        • @Peter that is a really tough one. Rotating pairs are easy, ones that go along with good fixtures on a weekly basis, very tough.

          Hammers/Foxes
          Saints/Baggies
Could be rotated by fixtures better than most mid to low budget defenders. But I assume you don’t want to spend 5.0 on a Hammer or Baggie.

I would say find a pair that works well for 8-10 weeks. By then you are likely to have transferred one of them out anyway via the wildcard or a budget player that looks a real bargain, so you feel obligated to bring them in.

Bounemouth and Watford have can rotate based on fixture difficulty I least until week 8. If you want to throw in a third defender and make it a 3 man rotation then adding a Palace guy could work as their fixtures ease up as Wat/Bou get harder.

        • PeterPan says:

          @Mitro
Given me a lot to think about… best 4.5m def from Watford?
Think could go with them and Mings and be stuck with a 4m def filler… but have Cedric and Alder to make up my defenders

          Else…
          Watford 4.5m def/ Mings/ Ward/ ?/ Cedric as my defenders?

          Have Courtois as keeper…

      NIN says:

Hi Peter. Hmm, it’s tough to pick. Do they need to work as a rotating pair, or are they just bench fodder that get starts?

      • PeterPan says:

Either needing 2 or 4, but they will rotate for 1 or 2 places.
Going with Cedric and either 4 4.5m def or Cedric and Alder and 2 4.5m def

        • NIN says:

You could set up a three way rotation. Best way to do that is to use CC’s tracker and see exactly who fits with who. To be fair, the B’mouth-Watford-Norwich trio he used in the video actually does work pretty well. If i remember correctly it runs into trouble just a few times, as far as GW15 (don’t hold me to that, but it’s something along those lines). You could maybe set that up -or one you like/prefer- and start with Cedric/Toby…

        • PeterPan says:

          Thanks NIN,
thing is I couldnt save that Excel spreadsheet so kind of got annoyed a stopped watching haha.
Im still undecided on Alder and if I go with him I will get a 4m def (turner maybe) and have 2 4,5m def to rotate for the 3rd spot… and play them both if Spurs have a tough game.
Else just get 4 4.5m def and rotate 2 in the entire season

    Hey all.

Got cash in the bank for kun.
    Would like ur opinions. Thanks

      NIN says:

Nope, not until you enter some FF247 leagues! 😉

I joke of course. I like the midfield, shame Ki has such a rough 1st game though. If your cheap defenders work well together to give good fixtures most weeks, than yeah, i like this squad. I have no idea how the GK’s rotate but i’ll assume they’re okay (should probably check, but i cant be arsed just now laugh )

Evening Gents, this is what I have thus far, thoughts? Non paying GK and Defender that I’m not happy about mind! smile

      TheDreamers says:

Ive a share of these players MadHatter in my initial squad. I think pre-season is worth taking note of re Rodriquez and to a lesser extent Depay. I prob wudnt double up at the back but , hey its Chelsea.

      inittowinit says:

Hi Hatters, love 9 of the starting 11 and yeah that bench is pants as you say! I’m unsure on Ward as their fixtures aren’t good at all. As for J-Rod I like the pick if he actually plays. They faced Feyernoord today and fielded what looked suspiciously like an intended starting 11 and he was on the bench. One to monitor. Not sure what to say about the bench other than I get the reasons and you’d have to hope a few alternative starters pop up in those price ranges in the coming weeks.

      Calvin Clyne says:

Pick Hennessey for GK, by all accounts he’s off to WBA to play for Pulis. Bargain.

    TheDreamers says:

wow CC, thats sounds like a tracker on steroids. good stuff.

  6. 42
    MadHatter says:

Cheers for the input guys. This was my previous team which I think I’m happier with … for now! 😉

    • 42.1
      inittowinit says:

That certainly makes more sense in terms of depth and the difference between J-Rod, assuming he plays, and a Vardy or similar probably won’t be much. Land on the right one and it could make picking him look daft.
