Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 10 FPL News: And we are off!! Game-week 10 gets us going with a foregone conclusion, as Arsenal will grab the 3 points when they travel to the Stadium of light Darkness. That “one team rolling over and playing dead” fixture is followed by six more. United look to bore Burnley off the pitch, Boro and Bournemouth tangle in another battle of low expectations. In other action, the best defence (Spurs) faces Leicester, who can’t defend, so much so that even United scored on them…4 times. Watford and Hull duel in a battle of fugly kits, The Baggies face first place City at the Hawthorns and Palace finish the day off with a match up against the “WE ARE GOING TO WIN THE LEAGUE” Liverpool.
Sunday gives us two more fixtures. Struggling for a win Everton faces the slightly improving Hammers. In the late game, Chelsea and their suddenly vaunted attack look to stop the Saints from continuing their march up the table.
Monday closes the game-week off with a made for Halloween fixture, as only the freaks will be out and about to watch Stoke and Swansea scare each other with their bad play.

Afternoon everyone, how art thou?(I’ve been reading Shakespeare all morning 😉 )

I apologise in advance for this long comment as I have been trying to decide the replacement for Valencia but who knows maybe this will help you all too! Money is no issue as I have 7.4 mil in the bank when I sell Valencia. I have a few options looked at so here is the list of them and the pros and cons which I seem to be able to find with them all.

Lovren/Clyne- Great attacking potential, Easy fixtures but Liverpool can’t get a CS to save their lives, even Hull scored against them!

Stones/Kompany- Easy fixtures but City don’t seem to like CS points either. Plus I’m not sure if Kompany will be played straight away as he’s still returning from injury and Stones could be rotated.

Luiz/Apzi/Alonso- Chelsea are again tight at the back and with 4 nice fixtures in their next 6 games sandwiched between Spurs and City they could be a good bet. Luiz and Azpi are obvious attacking threats and Alonso seems to be playing very attacking so could be good too.

Walker/Rose- Two very attacking wingbacks in a pretty solid defensive unit. Fixtures are quite difficult though so could turn people off them.

Kos/Bel/Mustafi- Hard fixtures for the next two weeks but Cech seems to be in a good vein of form so could save them from any mistakes they may make. Obviously there is attacking advantages too these players as well so assists and goals are not unlikely.

Blind- Swapping Valencia to Blind could be a good idea as Blind is on setpieces and United are playing the Jose way by parking that bus but fixtures are not kind to them in the coming weeks so might not work out.

Fonte/Van Dijk- Lastly I’ll mention these two and the follow the Tigers approach. With Hull not seemingly able to do anything anymore Southampton defence could be a good move but it would only be a one week punt you would feel as Liverpool and Everton follow that game.

So they are the replacements I’ve thought off am I leaving any one out? I already have Leicester cover but if anyone is reading this looking for ideas Morgan and Fuchs could be goldmines in the coming weeks.

Hey Matt, I just saw that you already have Fuchs. I would go with Soton defense. Has Cedric been starting? I like him as an attacking defender if he is playing every week.

I’m in the same predicament, so thank very much for the detailed analysis. There was nobody on my shortlist that you haven’t already covered.

I think I was leaning towards Lovren (nice run of fixtures & surely they’ll start defending soon?!) and Stones. This also free’s up funds for me to beef up the midfield.

Should I be considering Leicester? I’m reluctant to dish out 5.4 on a Leicester defender (crazy seeing as they’re champions!). Would people prefer someone like Morgan over Lovren / Stones?

      • Matt says:

No problem Banjo. It’s exactly why I did it as a lot of people would have had Valencia.

Lovren is really interesting me because of the reasons you say that extra cash can come in handy and for the next 9 games Liverpool should really get a few CS.

I have Morgan so I would suggest him but Fuchs is very appealing due to his attacking potential. He has only one goal for Leicester but assists are more likely.

        • banjomaker says:

I can’t afford Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea… So had decided on Lovren or Stones.

You’ve now seriously got me thinking about Leicester though. Their fixtures are really good, and with the way their Champions League campaign is going they’ll be able to rest players for the Prem.

The only other player I briefly considered was the straight swap for Darmian, but I don’t think that’s such a good idea, as it’s a guaranteed problem later down the line.

If I were you, i.e. money no issue, then I think I’d be seriously looking at Alonso. He’s playing well up the pitch and Chelsea are looking really solid.

        • Matt says:

Hmm I’d go with Lovren then personally.

Morgan could be dropped or rotated as he’s captain of the team so will want to play in the big games.

As I said above I’d prefer Blind if it was a straight swap because of his set piece duty but I think there are better options ahead of him.

Yeah Alonso is really interesting me. I think it’s between Lovren and Alonso to be honest so that will be the decision that torments me all week. Haha

What’s he that wishes so? That Crispin’s day speech was always a favorite of mine (Kenneth Branagh of course) but anyways I really like the value attached to both Lovren and Stones as I like my defenders to be more of a budget type fix so I can pump more of the budget into them Mids and Forwards. Both Man Citeh and Pool are at the top of the shots against table so I’ve a feeling that the CS’s will come in due course.

My midfield is weak. Thinking of downgrading Lukaku to Austin and upgrading Fletcher to Shaqiri.

    Schmeichel Foster
    Koscielny Valencia Pieters Friend Amat
    Ozil Firmino Sterling Capoue Fletcher
    Aguero Lukaku Benteke

1 Cech, walker, walcott -> heaten, morgan, hazard (-4)?

    or

2 walker, walcott -> fuchs, coutinho

    Gents,

No doubt I will change my mind or someone gets injured in the midweek games but what do you think to the following?

Payet and capoue to hazard and whelan/fletcher for a -4?
