Live Match Chat Gameweek 17 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 17 FPL News: After the excitement (maybe not!) of the midweek fixtures we are back with a long weekend of games beginning on Saturday lunchtime with Chelsea chasing records at Pardew’s Palace. We move swiftly on to four relatively dull looking games at 3pm, if we are being totally honest about it! It reads more like a relegation audition or next seasons typical Championship fixture list than any sort of Premier League bonanza. Ahem, sorry, we’re supposed to build you up into a frenzy of excitement to encourage the conversation about what is to come and what is happening aren’t we?! We’ll actually forgive you if you leave at 2pm and return at 5pm though, just this once! The evening game could actually be an interesting one as Man United visit West Brom, both of whom enjoyed midweek wins. Sunday begins with a south coast derby followed by arguably the clash of the weekend as Pep meets Wenger at the Etihad. At the same time as that one Spurs will seek to gain some ground on the leaders as they host Burnley. Our game-week closes out on Monday with another derby game, this time on Merseyside. Please join us to talk about the happenings on the pitch and share your teams joys or woes as the games go on. Rate my team posts are always welcome for the following week and will always be answered. Rant, rave or just wave, do whatever you want on here, it’s your platform as ever…

Hey guys, how’s it going? Anyone want to guess whether Friend makes his way back into the starting 11 this weekend? Trying to raise .3 to swap Kane for Ibra and I’d rather not lose any of my midfielders. Would McAuley to Friend be a decent enabler for the other transfer or is Friend coming back too risky? (Init already voted risky last night, lol). I actually think he’ll start tbh.

    Pickford Heaton
    Walker Ake Holebas McAuley Amat
    Sanchez Hazard Siggy Eriksen Lallana
    Costa Kane Anichebe

How dare you make a new thread when mine are still unanswered Red? sad

      • Raziel says:

Hmmm complicated. You have much better defense than me though. Well, you have Walker, I have nobody. Hehe. Anyway. What to do, what to do? Hmmm.

Maybe use a magic stick? Jan Wildcard? Oooh what to do now? Hmmmmmmm, mids are decent indeed, job well done mate. Hmmm. As a Pool fan you don’t need Ibra? Maybe? And I see you don’t have Firminho, hoping he will get back to his old self soon though. sad

        • RedVT says:

Haha, thanks Raz. Midfield looks decent on paper but my highest scoring mid so far this week was Sanchez with 5, lol. Hopefully Lallana comes through for me today. Don’t think I’ll be going back for Firmino again, not until Coutinho is back anyway. Had Firmino since week 1 and sold him for Eriksen before his big haul last week. One of the few transfers that worked really well so far this season!

        • Raziel says:

Lol Red, that is if Firminho doesn’t bag a hatty tonight. 😉

Which he won’t. sad Weird, I have a few players I don’t trust anymore in my squad and it just doesn’t sit well with me:
Smith, Holebas (versus big teams), Firminho, Kane, Carroll. sad

Yeah not sure worth the risk. Just go Chambers is the same price

      • RedVT says:

Thanks Smash, much appreciated. Yeah, I was looking at Chambers but the offensive and BPS potential from Friend is really tempting. It’s risky but maybe only for this week. He’s bound to break his way back in soon and he’s one of the better budget defenders. Probably hang onto him for a while barring injury if I were to get him.

      Red

I don’t want to sway you if you’re already set but I would be looking for guaranteed starters if I was bringing anyone in just now. I think Gibson and Chambers appear to be doing quite alright in there so I would go Chambers as opposed to Friend. I guess it depends though, can you afford to take the risk (i.e. are you happy to call upon two of Ake, Holebas and Amat every week?)

      • RedVT says:

Thanks GP. I’d be in real trouble this week if Friend didn’t start as Ake and Costa are unavailable. Perhaps Chambers is the most sensible. I always get my head turned by cheap attacking defenders though, ha! laugh

Red, what about Barragan? He seems to be starting and is cheap too.

Everything I plan is getting wrecked

I was sure to get in Zlatan when Costa got his 5th YC, but then again he scored the goal. plan 1 cancelled

I was going to sell Friend now but then he was brought from the bench and it looks like he will start from next week
    plan 2 cancelled

I was going to sell Walker to get a Chelsea back when he lost the CS and then he had an assist and a BP
    plan 3 cancelled

Plan 4 is to get Zlatan in for Kane.
Lallana or Origi injury ahead to rule out this plan too?

PS When will I be able to get a Chelsea back sad

Post a pic of your team?

Zlatan for Kane sounds sensible to me.
I would keep Walker for the season – he’ll get good points for attacks.
Defo plan to get a Chelsea back in as soon as possible. Take your pick. Azpi gets bonus pts and assists, Luiz is going to score from a free kick at some point and Alsonso gets attacking points.
