Live Match Chat Gameweek 34 FPL News
Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 34 FPL News: The frantic planning is now over and it’s time to sit back and hope that your double game-week players all see the pitch twice or indeed to hope that your single ones don’t come a cropper in the FA Cup before they get their FPL chance to shine in midweek. GW34 is fraught with danger whichever way you look at it but on the bright side there’s football aplenty this week! The gameweek begins late this week as we have four 3pm kick offs on Saturday and it’s basement battle time as 7 of the 8 featured teams could still technically be relegated. With no evening game Saturday will be over in the flash of an eye and then Sunday sees 2 of this weeks 3 DGW teams begin their quest as Man Utd go to Burnley in the early one before Palace visit Anfield in the later game. We then have a breather for a day before Chelsea and Southampton get us back under way on Tuesday night. Wednesday sees another three games before we finally conclude on Thursday evening with the Manchester derby.

Fixture Tracker
Morning all,
so are people going for 15 DGWers for DGW37? This will mean ignoring such names as King (home to Burnley), Benteke (home to Hull), Lukaku (home to Watford), Andy Carroll (home to Liverpool)….
ok, the last one was a bit of a joke, but prime fixtures for the other three to name but a a few……
discuss…..
Morning Cookie,
I very much doubt I’ll have 15 DGWers. King is likely to remain, not only because of his fixtures but he’s cheap and will enable me to invest elsewhere. I would like to hold onto Lukaku but that will depend on funds.
Morning Kop,
Lukaku failing to score vs the Hammers will result in loads selling him I fancy – which could turn him into a decent differential for 37.
I’ve just had a very quick look and it’s unlikely I’ll be able to hold onto him. Looking at my funds I badly need Jesus to be an option.
I’m sure he will be by then – some mins off the bench at the weekend will ease many fears re Jesus.
Morning Cookie,
I think i ll hold on to holgate and kaku plus one palace player (probably Benteke), and one keeper, and i ll try all the others to be dgwers, but all these without knowing possible injuries or changes in line ups, till then. For example will aguero and stones or davies keep their spot?i I ve played my wildcard 2 gw ago and there are fairly good amount of dgwers in there, but i think 1 or 2 saints and 1 arsenal can fit in there. What do you think?
Morning Teo, yes that all sounds very sensible to me. I’d have Alexis in there personally, Arsenal have 4 GWs in 2 weeks! Re Stones, who the hell knows, a lot depends on hiis fitness and also Kompany’s fitness – both will likely miss games I assume knowing Pep. Aguero depends on Jesus, which only time will tell over the next two weeks.
I would be wary on Southampton – plenty of fixtures, but not ‘wow’ ones and nothing to play for with a manager who loves to rotate – there will be some value there for sure, but difficult to identify who exactly….. Tadic? Redmond? Gabbo? JWP? Yoshi? Tricky…Gabbo is the obvious one but Austin should be back by then so I’d expect significant rotation with them…..
You confused more than i already was, thank you for that and it s only 11am here…..
No worries Teo lol (sorry!)
Cookie, mirrowing what Kop has said I’ll be keeping a hold of King. I’ve got Lukaku at the minute but either him or Aguero will be making way for Kane depending on how much Jesus challenges Sergio for game time.
Only others I may struggle to turn into DGWers are Jaku and Grant because of their price. I’ll probably get Pickford in for Grant at some point now that he’s lost his place to Butland.
Morning Milburn,
Yeah, Grant needs to go. I was going to get Sane in this week for Boro, but with Jesus emerging I may just wait and see if he is fit for 37 as I only want one City attacker.
Their fixtures are about as good as you can get so why just the one out of curiosity?
Also, have you heard anything about Aguero’s injury? Do we know if it’s serious or not?
Milburn,
It’s just fitting them in for me mate and they are not smashing teams, plus the threat of rotation…..
I am hearing Kun and Silva trained y’day and they are expected, at this stage, to be ok for Thursday. Unfortunately!
I played the early WC so I’ll likely fall short of fielding 15, if I play my cards right I might get 11 or 12, it’s going to be a long ass GW 37 with it lasting all week so anything can happen in that one and with Everton playing first there’ll be a lot in the Lukaku camp hoping that he does something against Watford.
He won’t Andy – he’ll Lukaku us all.
Cookie..I’m going with all 15 DGWers. This week is meant to do the same. Given the form and fixtures, I have planned to do this: 3 Arsenal(2 MF+1 def), 3 Chelsea(1 for+ 1 MF+ 1 def)), 2 Man City(1 for+ 1 MF), 2 Utd(1 def + 1 GK), 1 Soton(1 def), 3 Spurs (1 for + 1 MF + 1 def), 1 Sunderland( GK- Pickford).. This is what I think of now and probably will build up my team around it. I’ll think of GW38 later and may take hits, if necessary then. What do you think of this?
Can you afford all of those Constantine? Should be some team that if you can.
Hey Milburn..I thought the same. this was the best I could do. Surely, many players would change by then. Costa couldn’t be managed though. Have to downgrade one of Arsenal MFs or one of the defs to accomodate him.
Morning Cookie,
I’ll mirror what a few are saying, i’ve currently got King and Lukaku and will likely keep both. I made the mistake of dropping the Spurs boys last DGW and it bit me on the bum!
I think once i’ve sat and looked long and hard at the fixtures I may keep 3-4 SGW players with good form/fixtures and the rest will be DGW players taking into account GW 36 and 38 too.
I’m also going to look at likely rotations as these have stung me this DGW (Valencia) and did DGW 37 last year. I know that we can never know for sure who will get rotated, but for example I see more chance of Kun/Jesus being rested/rotated than say Vardy. Obviously the fixtures will have to be looked at as Jesus playing 1 and coming on as a sub for 15 in one could outscore Vardy given their fixtures.
Well Cookie, haven’t you started the great debate
My view is that 15 DGW players are not essential for 37. You highlighted some already and I think it very wise to make sure that the team selection will still work effectively for GW38.
There is a strong tendency for FFL players to get sucked-in to the DGW players but there are dangers. Just ask those who captained Negredo this week and others who decided to go all-in with a Midd defender and Palace midfielders. It may still pay off but it is not looking great.
One point I agree with in this chain is to be careful with Soton. They have the matches but they are not attractive.
I am going with 13, keeping Lukaku and King, their fixtures and form is tempting
15 for me. I don’t have King though so easy call on that one.
15 all the way cookie!!
Planning to dump Lukaku for Kane in 37, irrespective of Watford. May relent only if Lukaku goes on a streak while Kane simultaneously flops in the intervening weeks. Kun/Jesus will determine if I can bring in Hazard or not. I hope Jesus ousts Kun again just so I can have both City and Chelsea attack. Sadly, I don’t see any other way to get Hazard if Kun stays, unless I drop Sanchez for him, which I won’t.
Is it time to use the WC?
Why would you want to widlcard that team Viktor? Maybe look at replacing Negredo and playing McAuley for Gibson…..
I would like to replace Barkley, Lukaku, Negredo and Gibson..
So why not WC in 36?
Replace Negredo, bench Gibson and play Lukaku home to Chelsea? Up to you of course, but that’s what I would do.
Morning everyone, hope you are well.
The Geordie lads will be. Delighted for you, well in fellas.
Cookie – what we spoke about last week about BB in 38 rather than 37 is gaining some favour with me, lots depends on my ML situation come 37. We are toing and froing just now and all his chips are gone.
I like the fixtures of some on a SGW as you rightly noted above. I may go out with a bang and play BB IN 38!
:black-flag:
Cheers GP mate, much appreciated!
Sure am GP thanks!!
Best of luck with that plan GP
Really interesting point here GP. For gw37 id only have 13 dgw players so only get 2 extra players. GW38 fixtures do look tastier with a lot of the big team playing against lesser opposition.
The problem is that GW38 can be a lottery. Didn’t Newcastle hammer Spurs on the final day of last season?
Kop, let’s not go drudging up the past okay! :/
:big-lol:
5-1 if I recall correctly.
Hi Kop
Middlesbrough 8-1 Man City was last game of the season if I recall correctly.
You may have a point.
Hi all,
Current Team (ITB 9m and 1 FT)
Grant/Foster
Bailly/Chambers/Pieters/Alonso/Ben Mee
Pedro/Joshua King/ Eriksen/ Siggy/ Alli
Rashford/Lukaku/Negredo
I am thinking of:
1.) Chambers or Pieters to a Spurs defender: Davies or Trippier or Vetonghen
2.) Ben Mee to Southampton Defender Ryan Betrand/Cedric/Yoshida or Stephens
3.) Siggy to Hazard
4.) Negredo to Gabbiadini
Which transfers should i prioritize?
Thanks very much
ISD, Siggy to Hazard looks good
+1
Guys, having used my 2nd WC some time ago, for me to get 15 dgw players for gw37 and play my bench boost id need to take some hits. My question is do u think its worth selling single gw players such as king (Home to Burnley) and Holgate ( home to Watford) for someone with a dgw (for a hit). Stephens is the obvious replacement for Holgate however I don’t see any worthwhile dgw replacements for King.
Although the concern with finding a dgw replacement is selling someone like king with a single game week and decent home fixture for someone who may be rotated so effectively only getting one game anyway……
saloba -the trade off for not keeping your WC for these doubles is that you believed, at the time, that your team would benefit so much from deploying it back then that whatever scenario you’d face ahead of any doubles it would still compensate. I don’t know if that was exactly the case and or if it did/will compensate but I’d say keep that up, forget about having 15 and don’t take hits to sell people you think will performs well.
Morning chaps! Congrats to Newcastle fans (Milburn and Rosco in particular)! I’m fairly new to the English game but know enough to recognize you all belong in the PL.
Anyway, I’m trying to get my mind around a DGW plan without my WC. Thinking these two transfers make sense as they have good fixtures this week and are both DGWers I’d like to have for 37. Thoughts?
Siggy & Lukaku -> Sane & Vardy
Pancho, Id personally be looking to bring in Gabby instead of Vardy given that he has 2 game weeks and using that money to upgrade zaha to someone like eriksen for gw37. Ud still have enough money to upgrade amat for decent dgw defender.
Thanks Saloba, I’m just not convinced by Soton’s fixtures and they have nothing to play for. Also, I don’t think Gabbi will start all 4 of those matches anyway. With Long fit and Austin coming back there is likely to be rotation. I need to pick players as guaranteed to start as possible and I don’t think Gabbi is nailed on to start all 4. I could be wrong, but I’m not convinced…
No worries mate, Ur probably right. As it has already been proven its going to be very difficult to actually get players who will play both games. I may need to sell Valencia on this basis.

Thanks Pancho much appreciated!!
I have my WC and I’m debating keeping Lukaku, his fixtures and form are great and certainly better than Costa. I would hold off on that move and if you do get rid then consider a cheaper alternative like Jesus or Gabby (obviously watching to see if they return and are selected. I think there are a lot more options in midfeild for the DGW and you might be better served investing some of your funds there to upgrade the likes of Capoue. I like the Sane move!
Rosco thanks for the reply!
I’ve got to respectfully disagree with you on Lukaku-Costa.
GW35 – they play each other and I think Chelsea will be really up for to push on and win the league.
GW36 – Chelsea Home to Boro and Everton away to Swansea
GW37 – Chelsea DGW (wba & WAT) and Everton have WAT
GW38 – Chelsea have a relegated SUN and Everton have Arsenal who will likely be fighting for 4th
So it seems that Chelsea have equal or better fixtures for the remainder. Thoughts?
Sorry i just read my comment and realised it wasn’t very clear! I meant that Lukaku has decent fixtures and better form than costa! Chelsea have great fixtures and much better than Everton especially given the DGW.
I think if you can afford both I would, i’d love both but as i want Haz i’ll go for him and given Lukaku vs Costa on form i’ll stick with lusaka but this may change after 35!
Ahhh got it, thanks Rosco! I would agree that if I could easily swap a mid to Haz then I would rather dumb Costa. But I don’t know if I can do that. Hmmmm, thinking to do…
