MLS GW17 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW14 Tips Fantasy Major League SoccerWelcome to MLS GW17 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Sort of… All by myself. Don’t wanna be. All by myself. Anymore… Oh, Celine. How apt! Well it turns out that we are all by ourselves this week! This could be a classic case of ‘you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone’ as the great man himself, Mr Guy Sanchez, has finally succumbed. He sends his sincerest apologies from his sick bed. If anyone has followed Guy’s fantasy football writing career they will know that this is the most robust of robust men. We once inadvertently asked him to write three major articles in three days. He didn’t bat an eyelid and all three arrived with precision. He’s written under duress and most certainly through illness, as per his now infamous ‘DayQuil powered article’! This week was one too much however as he’s been laid low properly this time. We would normally scramble something together for you but this was last minute and in all honesty we rely on Guy just as much as you do!

In his absence the best we can do then is offer you up the key info and maybe a steer on where the site team is heading this week. The site team is run by Mito, who is perhaps the best MLS fantasy player to have ever played the game, so it’s possibly not the worst place to turn to for advice!

THIS WEEKS DEADLINE IS 00:30AM UK TIME on WEDNESDAY (That’s Thursday night, ish)

This weeks fixtures and the teams with a DGW…

Site Team so far…
We don’t want to leave you with nothing to go off this week so this is how the site team is intending to line up, as we speak. Bear in mind that this is subject to change depending on actual line-ups for the first game and obviously any news which comes out on Wednesday. Which knowing MLS could be anything from a surprise DUI arrest to a broken leg being unreported.

We managed to grab a quick analysis from the maestro himself but we are sure he will be on hand tomorrow on the site to offer specific advice on any RMT’s…

“I put a team together, albeit quickly, I still need to check for injuries or rotation talk by managers. Dempsey or Martinez were my biggest doubts. Defenders can be from Atlanta, Seattle, Portland or even Minnesota. I’d probably stick with just those teams if possible. This is all assuming you are only looking for DGWs. Toronto would be the team for a single GW guy or Niko from Chicago would be fine too.”

Post your teams below and we will be sure to help out as much as possible.

    I didn’t realise I was writing an article. :say-what:

You weren’t. Just be careful what you say in private as it can quickly end up on one if we get desperate laugh

For some reason I had a feeling we wouldn’t have an article this week so I lined up this yesterday. Not enough money to turn Roldan into Molino but I’m also not sure that that would be better based on each total pts and recent form.
I can’t really see why I have Hamid in there but I’m sure I had something in mind atm.
        Any thoughts pls?

I hope you’re not asking me! Not even looked yet. I’m sure Mito will be along this morning to aid people.

        • @DMC, Hamid is awfully expensive considering he plays on an awful team against two opponents who are expected to score on them. Atlanta is the highest scoring team in MLS when playing away and Philly only has one game so they will be catching a team who is on 3 days rest and might see a little rotation. Plus DC is in the worst form over the last 8 games in the whole league.

I don’t have a whole lot of faith in Colorado either for several reasons. Their home game is against LA, which is second to Atlanta in goal scoring and is top in terms of points in the league when playing away. Plus they play 3 days later in Atlanta after a long trip, so who knows who we will see starting and the fixture is not good on paper. Atlanta has not been shut out at home this season and they scored 10 in their last 3 there.

Rest looks fine to me, Roldan has been doing well and if Villalba starts up top tonight I might bring him in myself.

        • DMC says:

Many thx Mito – I now know why I had Hamid – FMLS site has him as the best GK for expected points potential (14.0) so basically I got lazy! Will look again but from memory I recall nobody having great two fixtures in terms of cleanies.
As for Roldan I duly noted your comment. So do you not see Molino as a must have for this one?
          Cheers

        • @DMC, Well, Molino has been up and down. I don’t think he is a must have, at least he hasn’t shown us yet. But I will have him, just to be on the safe side, because if he was ever going to explode you figure this be it. He might do nothing or he might score 20. Reason I would consider Almiron and Valeri must haves is that you know their floor is probably 12 on a DGW and you are probably looking at around 15-20 with a bit of luck on either. Molino certainly has the same upside, but he has a lower floor so I wouldn’t question anyone if they decided to spend their money elsewhere.

Well we’re all screwed this week!! Get well soon Guy, we need you 😉 hahah

Hope you get well soon Guy. The team that I’ve created so far this week is pretty similar to the site team which at least means I’m going in the right direction. Fully expecting Atlanta to throw a spanner in the works by rotating heavily which is why I’m leaning towards captaining Molino because of his two home games. This is what I’ve come up with so far:

Are there any international call ups or any other factors I need to be aware of this week?

Biggest favourites of the week are

      1. Seattle vs Orlando
      2. Toronto vs New England
      3. Chicago vs Orlando
      4. Atlanta vs Colorado
      5. Colorado vs LA

Unfortunately the highest scoring games based on odds look to be
      Toronto vs Revs
      Crew vs Montreal

      From the doubles
      Minny vs Portland
      DC vs Atlanta
      Atlanta vs Colorado
      Minny vs Vancouver

Sounds to me like they are telling us get some Minnesota and Atlanta attacking cover.
