Managers of the Round Table – Fantasy Premier League 2014-15

Photo 22-04-2011 15 26 55We have gathered up six prestigious members / writers around Mito’s Round Table to answer a few quick fire questions in the lead up to the opening of the FPL season. They have been asked to make choices over some of the same key questions many of us are currently facing. As one would expect we got a wide range of varying answers, everything from a unanimous decision on formation to six different choices for Flop of the Year. See what our esteemed panel answered and please share your answers and views below, including that tricky last question. And don’t be shy; they sure weren’t when expressing their man crush.

Below is a self-described introduction to their FPL playing style.

  1. RMT?

    Speroni – Green

    P.Jones (Any united defender 5.5) – Debuchy – Luis – Wisdom – Hooiveld

    Rambo – Siggy – Hazard – Matter – guess the 4.5m player?

    Rooney – Austin – Costalot

I’m contempt with my Midfield and strikers now but i cant stop playing around with the defence.

    Thanks in advance.

    • Hey Burnsy,

Reckon neither Green/Luis/Wisdom/Hooiveld may or may not play.

      Albrighton?

What impact does Remy have on Austin? Would try upgrade Austin.

  2. Hi fellas, anyone care to RMT?

    De Gea, Hamer
    O’Shea, Coloccini, N.Taylor, Bardsley, Debuchy
    Fábregas, Mata, Snodgrass, Davis, Sigurdsson
    Rooney, Pellè, Diego Costa

3m in the bank. My options are:
    1) Pellè > Dzeko (/Giroud), Sigurdsson > Eriksen
    2) Pellè > Dzeko (/Giroud), Sigurdsson > Barkley, Fábregas > Hazard
    3) Pellè > Joevtic, Sigurdsson > Oezil/Ramsey, Davis > 4.5m duffer
    4) Any better ideas! I’m testing out a cheap playing defence and I think I have good rotation/fixtures taken care of

    • Bardsley has a knock – keep an eye on.

Snoddy didnt start tonight – might not mean anything.
Siggy and Taylor is too much for a team that may struggle.

I wouldnt have Jovetic yet or Dzeko until we are clear whats happening.

So Pelle to Giroud, Siggy to Barkley aint bad but can you do Siggy to Eriksen and keep Fabregas?

      • TheDreamers, thanks pal. I had a bit more of a tinker and came up with a new front 8:

        Fábregas, Mata, Eriksen, 4.5, Oezil
        Rooney, Jelavic, Diego Costa

Reckon that’s any better? I could also keep Snoddy instead of Oezil and get Giroud instead of Jelavic.

        • Id probably prefer Snoddy and Giroud to start the season anyway. Remember Ozil not supposed to start the first game at least.

        • Ah, hadn’t heard that. I guess he’ll be tired from the WC. Maybe Ramsey….will have another think- thanks!

  3. Anyone picking Hammers defenders or keeper?

    • It’s a good thought given they haven’t got Carroll now so will have to rely on their defense more to get points, as the hammers aren’t most prolific of teams. Jenkinson may be worth a punt or Reid.

    • TD – Howdy! Big Sam has been told to open them up a bit this season after pressure from the fans. Add to that their two horrible results in preseason vs weak opposition, i have my doubts.

  4. Any thoughts on this team gents?
    Begovic, Krul
    Ward, Rosenior, Debuchy, Ferdinand, Cahill
    Sanchez, Noble, Sigurdsson, Fabregas, Arnautovic
    Rooney, Long, Costa

    Thanks!

    • Strong team overall but the midfield is a bit weak, only 2 big hitters, and Fabregas may play a deeper role. drop Ferdinand down to a 4.0 and Noble down to a 4.5 which frees up 1.5m and try to get Eriksen in for Arnie or whomever you think will do a job.

I like the team but the midfield is a bit off putting.

      • Was thinking the same just couldn’t seem to free up the funds haha! Cheers Burnsy I’ll give it a go!

    • as93 – Hmm, definitely a good squad but defence would worry me slightly. Be sure to keep an eye on all preseason games so you know for sure that the likes of Cahill and Rosenior are going to be first 11. Other than that it’s a fairly well rounded squad.

  5. Transfer news: Tottenham agree deal to sign defender Eric Dier from Sporting Lisbon

  6. Other than Siggy, who’s the best 6.0m (or less) midfielder?

    • How about Davis of Southampton?

    • Snodgrass and Puncheon for me, though Davis is also a good option. Sidwell maybe?

    • Burnsy – Sidwell and Puncheon, for me.

      • Bah.. Snoddy and Puncheon.

        • It’s so hard to decide lol!

        • Big time! ha. There’s a few good budget friendly options in that range. Sidwell done very well last season for a terrible Fulham. He could be great value at 5.5m if he can keep that form up.

        • And Raz is absolutely raving about Craig Gardner as a budget option smile
