Managers of the Round Table – Fantasy Premier League 2014-15

Photo 22-04-2011 15 26 55We have gathered up six prestigious members / writers around Mito’s Round Table to answer a few quick fire questions in the lead up to the opening of the FPL season. They have been asked to make choices over some of the same key questions many of us are currently facing. As one would expect we got a wide range of varying answers, everything from a unanimous decision on formation to six different choices for Flop of the Year. See what our esteemed panel answered and please share your answers and views below, including that tricky last question. And don’t be shy; they sure weren’t when expressing their man crush.

Below is a self-described introduction to their FPL playing style.

  1. Somewhat surprised with Rose getting a 5 year contract.

  2. Bertrand is 5m? Ah that’s crazy.

    • Was he 5m when he still was @ Chelsea?

      • Dunno. Never really had looked at him.

      • Yes I checked last night. The prices will never change before GW1.
I guess they were forced into making him 5m, as when the game was launched he was Chelsea’s only specialist left back.

  4. Evening all what’s everyone’s thoughts on having a cheap 3 FWD still 3-4-3 ?

    • I’m still going with that, It’s just hard trying to find the best 6.0m striker. I’m still deciding on Austin or Jelavic/Long.

    • Silverback – I would say it’s very high risk to go with a cheap strike force. Extra defensive points wont come anywhere near making up for the big (c) hauls of strikers.

      • Hi Nin my FWD are Rooney , Costa & @ the min Lg with 4 big MF my thinking is Hull have Lmore , Hstone & Snods behind him & he will play thoughts

        • Ah, apologies, i thought you meant going with three cheap forwards! haha. A cheaper 3rd option is probably the way to go to balance out the squad a bit. Long/Jelavic, Diouf, Gomis and Campbell would be the better options at 7m or less, for me. If WBA don’t sign a striker then Berahino could be a decent 3rd striker also. He has a good record for a youngster.

        • Whos Lg, Louis Gaal ? :big-lol:

  5. Danny Rose signing a 5-year contract suggests to me that Ben Davies is no longer nailed on at left back. Calling the Spurs backline is actually quite tricky.

Here’s a general question for you lovely lot: do people prefer two top top (top) defenders and 3 to rotate, or is anyone going for a rotating 5? I think the latter has more potential to (a) free up cash for use elsewhere, and perhaps (b) generate income if you get lucky with CS points and price rises…

I will refrain from posting lists of players just yet…but I think the latter option is possible (especially thinking based on the rotations article, e.g. the Swansea-Stoke-Burnley rotation, plus the Newcastle-Sunderland one, with De Gea keeper…)

    • Pippin – This time around i’m going with one premium and two pairs of rotatable defenders making it a strong all round defence and as you say, hopefully build up some value as the season goes on.

As for Davies, i think he’s fairly nailed on despite Rose’s new contract. I think Rose was OOP anyway, more of a mid if i remember correctly.
