Site Team Gameweek 1
Hello and welcome to Site Team Gameweek 1. Seeing as FPL opened about 4 months ago, you would think we would have spent hours formulating our plans for the team, endlessly researching the stats and pre-season appearances of the players and balancing our budget to accommodate the must haves and the dark horses.
No. We all forgot about it until the Taskmaster that is Mito, clipped us round the ear and made us do stuff. Well, even then it was just to say if we liked ‘his’ team that he had created for us.
( …and even still we have our suspicions that The Legend played Twitter roulette and copied the first template he found).
But guess what? We all, in the main, loved the draft. A little tweak here and there to justify our enormous salaries but by and large we felt great and FPL could start in five minutes time if it liked.
Then Watkins came off injured.
Then Robertson did his ankle.
Then Toney had a knock.
Then Watkins was OK again.
And going to be playing in the middle!
It’s great to be back!
The Squad
OK so we know what you’re thinking and yes, we have taken the plunge on Tsimikas. His three assists and nice fixtures have us on the end of the line. We double him up with Trent and the obvious Mohamed Salah pick rounds off our maximum Liverpool exposure. Curiously Jota wasn’t given any thought so we must all be happy without him.
We don’t want to be faffing about with goalkeeper transfers at any stage (except maybe the wildcard(s)) so we’ll spend just £8.5mln and go all in on Watford with Bachmann and Foster offering an assured goalkeeper each week (don’t mention the ‘C’ word).
Joining the Liverpool lads in defence then are Luke Shaw, Luke Ayling and Ben White – who really should have been called Luke by his parents. We will likely use 3 defenders most weeks at the start and those will likely be our Liverpool two and Shaw but incase we don’t and/or we need a sub we are nicely covered.
Bruno is in and it shouldn’t take that much explaining and we have Raphinha and Harvey Barnes rounding off the spots in there. We usually always like the look of Leeds’ and Leicester’s attack and these two seem quite assured there and each for a favourable price as well. Burnley’s Josh Brownhill is the back up.
Our attackers are Danny Ings Ollie Watkins, Michail Antonio and Ivan Toney in what will now be known as the *drumroll*
‘AN-TONEY-KINS’
… we’ll work on that and come back to you …
There you have it. We have no plans to play early chips or wildcards and will see where the game takes us this season.

We are all hoping for a more normal season than last when it seemed that the virus was strangling not only FPL but football itself and the return of supporters and normal match schedules are hopefully also back for good.

What do you guys prefer for the 1st 3 gws ? ….
1-Mahrez/Barnes/Watkins
2-Son/Barnes/Toney
3-Son/Mahrez/Perica
I’m currently on 3 in a 4-5-1 but it leaves only Amartey as bench cover. 1 & 2 will both put a good option on the bench each week. Having Son makes a move to Lukaku easy while not having Son will make 3 moves and likely a hit to get Lukaku in. Really want Son while Kane’s away & Mahrez for Norwich though …. is it worth starting on 3 and switching to 1 or 2 for gw3 or am I asking for trouble?
I’m worried going without Sonny, who’s looked mustard even without Harry in pre-season, but it’s a stretch too far for my team so I like 3 then 1 as you suggested

Cheers everyone, I’ll stick and risk it with 3 then …. hopefully Amartey can cover any mishaps until GW3, when I’ll drop Son or Mahrez for Barnes and upgrade elsewhere. Hopefully Lukaku is 10.5 to make it easy! Here’s my team btw ….hope doesn’t cause mass change of opinions but any more are well appreciated
Ooooh a 4-5-1, now that’s interesting! Hmm if Coufal was just 4.5, then ESR could be Harrison, nice either way.

Lukaku unlikely to play vs crystal Palace. Transfer unlikely to be done officially before the palace game . So that does change things.

I have removed Jota as Firmino is up and running and put in Grealish…now have same concern

Doubt it. Probably bench.
Bees, Grealish is in every predicted starting lineups under the sun.
Hope that is the case as he and Stones are my Man City reps.
If only one of these predicted line ups was from Pep ha.

Is this a viable starting 11 with White/omobam/obafemi on the bench?
Pretty sure I’ll hit WC once all the strikers have found homes and transfers are settled so may as well attack the first few weeks.
Alternative was mahrez to Greenwood and then a 4.5 defender on the bench to set and forget.
Thinking is that other than Tsimikais, everyone will see some minutes of some form (e.g. mahrez being pepped on the bench would likely still tip up for a few minutes)

This is a nice team webstar. Omoba should start the first few games anyway. Obafemi probably won’t but one non playing bench player is fine in my eyes
Cheers Matt that’s the general thinking behind it. Read that vestergaard is on the way(or already there?) To leicester so punting with the Norwich cover as emergency cover.
Yeah I would say Kostas or Omoba are your best two 4.0 options but they are transfers waiting to happen.
