The Boot Room – FPL Fantasy Premier League GW21

Photo 02-01-2014 11 40 06With less than nine days to go and counting until the next deadline we all have plenty of thinking and tinkering time left… The January Wildcard is now available should you feel inclined to use it. Will you activate it immediately, possibly with a view to maximising your team value or will you wait until the transfer window has shut and judge what impact that has had, if any? Whichever you decide is the best strategy for you ahead of the next game-week we welcome your questions and also your advice to others. Please feel free as ever to post your thoughts, questions and feelings about whatever you want to but in particular if you would like others to take a look at your team ahead of GW21 and offer their thoughts and suggestions please post it below or link it and we are sure you will get plenty of feedback. Some of which may be constructive but we can’t promise anything!

    • Eager to get Eriksen in (either for Sterling or Barkley – leaning on the former), but I’d need to use my wildcard. Should I do it now or wait?

      • I wouldn’t get Eriksen just yet. It’s only one game. If he does well next week or the week after then I’d get him, but I’d wait for now.

      • Hadi I would definitely wait on that one! He’s not a certain starter week in, week out just yet and I would definitely not rush your WC on the basis of him alone.

        • Thanks guys. I suppose waiting a game or two wouldn’t hurt. I think he can do well if he plays regularly.

  2. Hi guys would appreciate your thoughts on my wildcard plan.I’m currently playing 3-4-3 but am seriously tempted to switch to 3-5-2.

    This is my current team.

    Mignolet (Gazzaniga)

    Terry,Coleman,Chester,Gabbidon,B.Turner
    Walcott,Hazard,Yaya,Cabaye(R.Morrison)
    Suarez,Lukaku,Podolski

    1 Ft £ 3.4 in the bank.

    My wildcard team.

    Davis(Foster-switching to Boruc when fit)
    Terry,Coleman,Koscielny,(Chester,Mariappa)
    Silva,Hazard,Walcott,Lallana,Cabaye,
    Rooney(switching to Aguero when fit) Suarez,(Chamakh)

    0.3m in the bank.

    To get this team i would have to press wildcard tonight due to price changes.Whats your thoughts guys ?

    • Would you not want to get rid of Davis when Boruc gets back?
      Apart from that it’s a great team. What’s your team value?

      • Hi,thanks for the response,no i will replace foster with Boruc when he comes back and play him every week.Southampton have some great fixtures coming up.Team value is 110.4m i think.

        • Kelvin Davis and Boruc both play for Southampton, no?

        • Yes mate so if Boruc gets injured again or suspended Davis would step straight in.

        • You’ll be losing value on Davis when Boruc gets back, and it would be better to have a cheap goalie from another team that will start every week, for when Southampton have bad games.

    • Brooky, WC team looks great and 3-5-2 in this situation would bring in some good points. This said your current team with a couple of transfers over the next couple of weeks or with a hit would be more than adequate so I guess it depends on your personal strategie to the WC. If your happy with the new team press that big red button!!!

      • Cheers Nz.Yeah i’m pretty torn.I really like my wildcard team,think its pretty strong all over but also have a nagging doubt of “if it aint broke why fix it !! “

        • Brooky, I hear you. I’ve played around with a few WC teams and it’s very tempting. I’ve looked at your teams again and really don’t know the answer; maybe break down each players fixtures through January if you can be bothered or toss a coin!!?

    • Can’t find anything James, hopefully he’s ok as I read a few articles that said he played bloody well and was Cardiffs biggest threat.

  5. Ok boys and girls, I’m thinking ill hold on my WC for the time being but would love a RMT (linked).
    I’m thinking of:
    Johnson to Koscielny
    Then
    Luk to Ade

    But also realise I need to sort out Rossinger and Gaz so what would guys prioritise and do you feel I should WC?

        • It’s pretty handy, I’d loss amal and look to upgrade to a big hitter in the WC but no drastic need to WC if you don’t want to.
