Fantasy Football The FF247 Community Team

What is it they say about a camel being a horse designed by committee? Well we wanted to see if we too could create a camel from well, a few donkeys actually, but let’s not be harsh and name names. You know who you are!

The inaugural season was always going to be one laced with teething problems but we are dealing with them as best we can and as diplomatically as we can. The Nobel Prize is in the bag we feel. We try to take an open view on all matters relating to our team and do what the people want or as close as we can get based on the voices we hear. Not in our heads, the other ones we mean.

The purpose of this article is to simply provide a refresh and a reminder as to our progress so far and encourage continued participation going forward. If you have participated in any of our voting thus far, then thank you. That’s what it’s all about.

The story so far
From selecting our budget distribution to a preferred formation to filling the positions player by player in GW1, it was something new, different and exciting. We enjoyed it and let’s be honest, it was something else to focus on after we had all torn up our one hundredth draft and rated our own two hundredth team! We were then set for Game-week 1 with this:

We were bang on the 34 average for that first week.

Just one man remains within our current squad. Guess who?! Riyad Mahrez has undoubtedly been our player of the season. There are a few names to cringe, squirm or wince at there, with hindsight of course.

The stats

We have 587 points in total.

Currently we reside in position 527,351 of 3,564,851 (within the top 15%)

Team Value: £99.9M. Money in the bank: £2.8M. Overall value: £102.7M

We have made 9 transfers so far and only twice have we voted to save a free transfer and have two to use the next week.

Our Wildcard was used in Game-week 5.

All other chips are still to be used.

Lowest overall rank was in Game-week 2 where we fell to 1,762,749.

Highest overall rank was in Game-week 10 of 214,372.

Game-week 8 was our highest individual point scoring week where we scored 95.

Game-week 1 was the lowest where we managed 34.

[divider_1px]

The biggest evolution so far is the streamlining of our voting system by using the independent ‘Strawpoll’ site and its ‘one-tick’ voting system which has proved very popular amongst voters and counters alike! This system has made the whole process of voting much more enjoyable and since its introduction, voting has increased immeasurably and as much as trebled some weeks. We pray this feature remains available to us otherwise Calvin Clyne is going to have to dedicate himself to setting up something similar for us having found Strawpoll for us originally.

Where we are now – GW13
This is how the squad looks ahead of GW13.

Clearly not in the prime of it’s health! But at the same time it may get by on crutches. Or a zimmer frame at least. Fear not though as said walking aids will be administered this week in the form of transfers and luckily we have two of those so it should be a fun week of voting on how best to get this sorry lot up and running again. Keep an eye and ear out for the polls in the comments below in the coming days and help nurse us back to health.

Remember, much like everything else for this team, when we use any of our chips is up to you. If you feel it is a good time to play one, let us know and if we think it merits a vote, we’ll do just that. They have to be used sometime!

We welcome any of your views. If you can see an improvement or a change, please bring it to us by commenting under the FF247 Community Team tab on site here or on twitter @ff247communityteam where all comments are replied to. Remember it is your team and your continued support which is keeping this thing going.

We’ll leave you to check yourselves how we compare to the FF247 site team so far…

Thanks, GP/NZ/ELLE

Evening chaps. This is my current side, a few injuries to deal with. Thinking of doing Payet out for Deulofeu tonight before any more prices changes, then wait and see what the Bellerin/ Vardy situation is before making any other moves? Taking in Deulofeu actually gives me the exact amount for Costa- Aguero :hippo:

Votes done!! Should be an interesting outcome.

Just want your opinions on Bolasie or Deulofeu?? I really can’t split them. I currently have Souare and Hennessy already so Bolasie would make that 3 Palace, but on the other hand I have Lukaku upfront so don’t know whether double Everton attack will work? Thoughts?

      NIN says:

Evening Matt. I’d just leave it as is mate, if possible. It’s a strong setup for next GW and 2 FT’s is always a nice buffer to have.

      • MattX says:

Evening NIN. I’m on my WC so will only have 1 FT next week. Also I like the team as is now but just unsure about the triple Palace cover. It’s only 1 in each position but still….

        • NIN says:

Oh right. I’d break up the double Palace defence then as you’re only playing one anyway, probably Hennessey. There’s not a whole lot to aim at in that cheap defender region though.

        • MattX says:

Ye that’s why I put Hennessy in there. I have 2 mil or so left over but that’s for Kun. The only other person at 4.0 mil I thought of was Eliott at Newcastle but it’s Newcastle haha

      RedVT says:

Hey Matt, for what it’s worth I think I’d go Deulofeu over Bolasie. He had a hat trick and 2 assists I think in the last match for the under 21’s and Everton have some nice fixtures coming up. I’d love to have him and Lukaku both if I could! I’m planning on dropping Payet for Deulofeu next week after the international matches are over.

      inittowinit says:

Hi Matt, I’ve just finished writing up the Fixtures article for this week and have both Palace and Everton in there in the favourable section. Palace are mainly there given their next 2 – Sunderland and Newcastle. Both are at home and they should win both but conversely Palace aren’t great at home and have a tougher run after that. I think Everton have a more sustainable run up until Christmas and so I’d go for the double up there. He’s bang in form too.

Matt, first of all i’ll get rid of Shittyama ASAP. No good for more than a 2 pointer.i too had him for 8 weeks till i played my wildcard.replaced him with drinkwater as he has assists potential.would suggest you to go for lanzini if u have funds.

On an unrelated note, did anyone watch the Rousey vs Holm UFC match? Holy hell that was awesome.

      MattX says:

      That’s great news Cheers Red.

And yes!! Rhonda got knocked the F#*k out!!! I have to say I was gutted though I like her as a fighter.

      • RedVT says:

Hey Matt, good to see you on the boards. Yeah, that was the best UFC match I’ve seen in forever. I like Rousey too but she got to the point where she was being a really bad sport and was way too cocky in the end. I think just about everyone who watched it was happy to see her get knocked out after the way she acted in the lead up to the fight, the weigh in, not touching gloves at the start, etc. Holly Holm totally took her apart and is a humble, classy athlete. Really happy for her and excited to see her fight again in the future.

        • MattX says:

Ye Rousey really became too cocky after the Bethea fight and lost a lot of support from fans. Didnt see the fight so missed where she didn’t touch gloves but that’s uncalled for in every sport. And I agree with NIN she didn’t seem prepared for the fight at all and Holm just took her apart.

        • RedVT says:

Yeah, she was acting like a complete jackass at the weigh in too. She ran straight over to Holm after they were weighed and got in her face while Holm was drinking some water. Then tried to say Holm ‘touched her face’ after she was the one who ran over and grabbed her arms. It was comical to be honest and she got what was coming to her. Wonder what she’ll say in a couple of months when her broken jaw’s not wired shut anymore!

        • MattX says:

She’ll probably say she was injured and demand a rematch!! Haha

        • RedVT says:

I’ve been reading conflicting reports about her injuries all day. Dana White thought her jaw was broken but that may not be the case. She definitely got her lower lip split by a huge punch and needed stitches, which is why her camp claims she couldn’t stick around for the post match interviews. Lots of people think she just didn’t want to eat humble pie on camera though!

        • MattX says:

I’d say it was more that she didn’t want to show her face and like you say eat humble pie!!

      • Raziel says:

Not interested in Rousey, they just fed her nobodies. Joe Rogan and co. are talking like she some sort of Messi. She’s not. The division is weak and they feed her easy opponents. Hardest opponent would be Cyborg. We’ve seen what Holm can do, just wait and see what a Cyborg would do. ^^ Dana White, Joe Rogan, it was all just one big smokescreen. She’s good but she’s a one trick pony.

And seriously, she’s really annoying. HAHA. I like humble fighters, which is a hard combo I know. Look at Jon Jones. ^^

        • Raziel says:

WTF is wrong with you people though, interested in MMA. Since when? Since ummmm what is he called, the annoying Irish bastard, haha. McCrackhead, that’s the one. ^^

        • Raziel says:

On that note, I usually support McGregor because I support all Europeans in the UFC, however, he’s got to be one of the most annoying people on the planet. ^^

        • RedVT says:

Hey Raz. I’ve been watching the UFC since it started in the early 90’s. We used rent VHS tapes to watch all the Gracie’s fight during those early years, lol. McGregor v Aldo in a few weeks should be massive. I think Aldo may give McGregor more of a fight than some people think, although it really could go either way. Both are excellent fighters.

        • Raziel says:

Than people think? I would be surprised if McGregor won. The more he talks, the more I’m leaning towards Aldo. To support, that is.

Aaash, so you also watched pride? Pride much better than the UFC was or will ever be.

Now it’s so mainstream, I’m slowly starting to lose interest. Heavyweight division sucks, lightheavyweight without Jones sucks. Couldn’t stand Anderson and GSP but currently I miss them.

Now freakshows like McGregor and Ronda Rousey are ruling shit. Terrible stuff.

I miss the old pride, dream, k1 days.

Which fighters do you support? And wait, weren’t you American? It’s weirder for Europeans to watch this stuff, it’s pretty mainstream in Murica. 😉

        • Raziel says:

The bullshit about Ronda being the greatest was laughable. So much disrespect to Fedor, whom was truly the greatest of all time. Fedor goat. ^_^

      NIN says:

Hey Red, i didn’t see it live but i watched a re run. She was totally unprepared to fight an elite boxer, whooped!

      • RedVT says:

Haha, yup! I watched an interview with her manager who is also a very grounded and classy guy. He was confident that Holm was going to take Rousey out and cleaned up in Vegas with the huge odds against her winning. When asked by the interviewer how much he made on the bet he just said “well into the 6 figures”. laugh

That was probably the biggest upset in UFC history, nobody thought Rousey would be beaten but she was made to look like an amateur by an amazing boxer and kick boxer. The ‘preacher’s daughter’ is the real deal!! Can’t wait to see her defend the title, she’s an amazing fighter.

        • NIN says:

Yeah she fought the right fight. That left hand was landing all the time and busting Rousey up.

Haha, that’s a great story, clever guy.

        • RedVT says:

Totally NIN, Holly picked her apart. It was the first time anyone other than Miesha Tate has lasted longer than 30 seconds with her so her camp had the exact right game plan. Survive her initial rampage, gas her out, then pick her off at will. She made it look easy actually.

        • NIN says:

Indeed, very easy. I don’t follow it too closely so i only seen Holm’s background just before the fight. Alarm bells rang when it said three weight champ in boxing, and kick boxing too. Holm was always in the right spot to land big shots, and did so. It would be interesting if Aldo beats McGregor too – both UFC cash cows beaten within a month!

        • RedVT says:

Yeah, McGregor v Aldo will be gigantic. Probably sell the most Pay Per Views of all time for the UFC. McGregor talks mad shit but so far he’s been able to back it all up. I’ve seen quite a lot of McGregor lately as he’s one of the coaches on the Ultimate Fighter this season and I actually like the guy, underneath all the front and shit talking he’s a great fighter. But so is Aldo and they really don’t like each other. I bet the odds will be pretty close on that fight, it really could go either way. I think McGregor will win though.

        • Raziel says:

Haven’t followed Ronda but I’m guessing someone like Holm has more experience fighting in other continents? Think in mma this is the first time Ronda fought outside the American continents?
