Fantasy Football The FF247 Community Team

fantasy football team tips hintsWhat do Heart of Midlothian, AFC Wimbledon and Galatasaray have in common?
They are all football clubs owned and operated by their supporters.
So?
So, I thought that seeing as this works brilliantly within (some) football clubs, then I wondered if this could be transferred to the fantasy world. A hugely talented fantasy player friend of mine first mooted this idea this close season and it got me to thinking, what if we did have our FF247 community represented as a single entity this coming season? I wondered if it could work. I wondered how it would work. I wondered if people would like the idea or how popular it could grow to be. I wondered if the FF247 Community Team could be the first supporter-owned team to win the World Title.
As far as I am aware, there is no other fantasy site with a community team. So are you with me?
Alright, first of all, the selection of everything to do with our team will be “one member, one vote”.
Basically if you go as far as to log in and leave a message to a supporter vote question, then you are a member.
So here is how it will work.

Initial selection
We will firstly vote to decide on our preferred playing formation.
The second vote will be to ask how you think the money in our team should be shared across all four playing positions.
Thirdly and most excitingly of all, the next vote will determine our first player.
I think it is fairest and most sensible to select players alternatively by position in turn beginning with strikers and working back through the team so we would vote thus:
Striker /Midfielder /Defender /Goalkeeper then returning to Striker to continue.
Ahead of each vote I would gauge the popularity of particular players through your discussions and early RMT enquiries and present to you a selection for you to vote for. The aim is to make the list as concise as possible but fear not there will be plenty of choice.

Weekly selection
I will ask you to vote for one goalkeeper and one outfield player you WOULD PLACE ON THE SUBSTITUTES BENCH. This vote will indicate who the least popular players are for the week and determine the most popular sub – i.e. he who most of you think WON’T have a good gameweek, goes to the last place on the bench, next most popular goes second and third takes first outfield spot on the bench. Goalkeeper with most ‘sub’ votes takes the sub GK spot.

[divider_1px]

Transfers
Each week there will be two transfer votes.
The first will ask “Who do you think should be sold from the FF247 Community Team?”
The second will ask: “Who do you think the FF247 Community Team should buy valued at £ ‘X’ ?
Multiple transfers (Points Hits), Wildcards and Chips
This is where it can be a bit hairy for us but not insurmountable – the theory will be that if at least five members request using any of the above, it will be put to a vote.

[divider_1px]

Captaincy
We will use the existing captaincy poll on site and select the most popular player for that week who is in the FF247 Community Team. The second most popular within the team will be vice-captain.

Summary
We will no doubt encounter little problems as we move along but where possible, I will always seek the advice of you, our members as to how they would suggest the problem dealt with.
I will be happy to address any issues or answer any questions you might have – leave them on our Community Team page which will be with us soon. If I don’t answer right away, please check back, I will answer.
I hope you will become involved with each vote as it appears. There may seem like there are a lot of votes but it will literally take you five seconds to take part as most of your replies will be one word.
This is intended to create additional interest away from our own teams, to not take itself too seriously or be bogged down with ‘what-ifs’. We should be democratic but not boring.
It is meant as a way for our fantastic community to bond further and with a bit of luck, to draw new visitors and encourage them to take part with us.
We may even be lucky and form a bit of a local FF247 fantasy rivalry as we progress…..
This is for you guys and your support is appreciated.

A word from FF247…

Team Management!
The Gallant Pioneer is your team manager for this one and he will be ably assisted by his two beautiful assistants in the form of NZAlex and Ellefcee. Please support them in this venture, it’s a brave new frontier but something that could work brilliantly given the community we have here.

Just one point though – the second you all start beating the site team it’ll be pulled quicker than a Jack Wilshire muscle 😉

I think this is a fantastic idea and I’m really looking forward to casting my vote.

Being the first time I have seem this done on a site, I imagine there will be numerous problems encountered along the way. But FPL managers are a patient bunch and I’m sure will understand the difficulties of such an idea. “Through doing we learn” and I’m sure by the end of the season 247 will have a system in place that can be implemented to great effect in the 16/17 campaign.

Looking forward to screaming at the TV “I knew THEY were ******* wrong. Ahhhhhh” and “Oooo that was lucky THEY didn’t listen”. Lets have a great season and it’ll be nice working with fellow managers in the upcoming 38 GWs.

Any ideas for the team coming together below?

That’s exactly the attitude mate. Thanks. Hope to see you around regularly.

Really like your squad. Now that Aguero lost like being laid up to start the season, it opens up so many doors.

I’d just change Morgan who has virtually no chance of starting the season. Straight swap to Huth maybe?

      • ohyesali says:

Thanks Gallant. I didn’t realise Morgan was definitely out. Thanks for the heads up worthy .

Yea, no Kun frees up so much cash and allows for a fairly easy swap for Costa ready for GW4 where Kun should be back up n’ scoring again at home against Watford. Any ideas relating to Eriksen? Not fancying Depay as may take time to settle (+Liverpool fan hehe) and Milner / Hendo / courtinio means 3 from pool and away fixtures are terrible through GW10. Thought of Yaya, but he hasn’t looked great pre-season. I also reckon with the additions Spurs have made to the backline and the ‘fairly’ kind first 6 GWs (apart from GW1) they could start the season well. Any ideas?

How do you think Sanchez (Ars) will fair this season? As good as last? When do you think he’ll be back into the starting line up?

        Thanks for any FB smile

Tottenham have OK fixtures after the first one. Hence the reason you might see Alderweireld in so many teams. The worry is that Lloris the first choice goalkeeper is injured and you have the likes of Tripper and Wimmer joining Alderweireld in that defence – it may take a bit of settling.

Sanchez I would expect from about week 3 maybe – this is a guess. Whenever Wenger feels he is ready but I’d expect to see him from the bench at first. On his game he is on a par with Aguero and Hazard so its worth having a plan to try to reach him at some point.

      Ohyesali,

Will be interesting to see how it goes mate.

Like your team but could I suggest Chadli (he’s a favourite of mine) instead of Erikson. It will give you a lot of money to play with and maybe use it to get Chesea coverage at the back?

This is gonna be brilliant, fun project GP. Even if the team does badly, It’ll serve it’s worth as a social experiment! Great stuff.

    Good morning all!!

    How are we all?

Think my team is nearly there, obviously kun being fit for the start of the season could change all that.

    Thoughts?

    • 10.1

      Mitro

Not sure about three of your five defenders.

Game time on Gabriel, Turner and Hoban is very questionable. At least two upgrades needed I think.

      • Mitro says:

Morning GP – Hoban was just bench fodder. I think Gabriel will be a starter this season, isn’t turner going to play?

        • Mitro

Who do you see Gabriel replacing? I’m even worried having Mertesacker as I’m sure there will be rotation at CB with Kos and Chambers.

I think it will be Martin and Bassong at CB. Whittaker and olsson at full back.

        • Mitro says:

From what I can gather Gabriel will be partnering with kos this season. I could put bellerin in but there is a good chance he could be rotated with debuchy.

Might stay away from the arsenal defence until we know.

          Is this a bit better?

        • Mitro

I’d take out Turner but yeah that looks good to me. A very different but hardly poor midfield there. Could see you very well indeed. Make sure you can get Hazard and Sanchez in if necessary.

    • 10.2

Hello Mitro, are you well pal?

I like that team. Do you plan to rotate Ritchie and Ighalo (Id start Ritchie if you do). Is Gabby a starter for Arsenal this season, if so he could be a great pick. Personally Id downgrade your keepers and upgrade Fab to Haz but I can see the arguments for not doing this. Id also try to strengthen your bench defenders as they are pretty weak and (correct me if I’m wrong) but not even starters? All the best and hope you will be voting for the community team smile

      ohyesali says:

A lack of Hazard is a question mark in my opinion. Fabregas will have a gd season again, but thinking long term Haz is the 1st name on MY team sheet. smile

I think Benteke will do ok for us (despite not slipping directly into the style) and should go up in price fairly quickly.

I also have sterling but I was looking at downgrading somewhere to swap for Silva. Thoughts?

Ok people, could I please get a RMT on this? the three 4.5 rotate pretty well and look like starters (I think?). Cedric and Azpi will start most.

Im planning on rotating Deeney and Ritchie (and using ‘all out attack’ maybe in GW2). But would also like your thoughts on downgrading Ritchie to a 4.5 mid and upgrading Deeney to J Rod and playing my preferred 3-4-3.

    Any suggestions gratefully received smile

Looks like someone over at FFS has come up with a great idea of a…….

    ……..community team! LOL

wonder where they got that idea from.

Slight problem – you have to have a community that’s answers posts in more than 1word if at all to do things like that
