The Premier League Returns… and so does FF247!
Welcome to The Premier League Returns… and so does FF247!
Guess who’s back, back again… with fresh hair cuts and strippers galore!
Yep, we’re back, we hope we are anyway…. Unless any more players test positive between now and June 17th, because… you know, they just absolutely had to get their hair cut. Or party with some strippers. Like we are sure we all have in lockdown….
Anyway, we just wanted to give you an update on both the key points from an FPL perspective but also from ours in terms of what to expect from us over the next few weeks.
FPL Changes
The main one here is that those of you who have been diligently (let’s face it boredly) making transfers each week to get your teams in the best possible shape for the return may find it was a fool’s errand as we all now have UNLIMITED transfers prior to the next deadline. Which is WEDNESDAY JUNE 17TH AT 5PM.
Rather than waffle on needlessly, here is what the Premier League state on their own site:
FF247 ARTICLES
What to expect.. not a lot in all honesty! But why? Here’s why…
FPL Fixtures
Other than the addition of an initial DGW the rest looks like it will pan out exectly as originally planned. At least for now. That is apart from GW31+ being reinstated in full, as opposed to it being a ‘blank’ ish one, as it was originally scheduled to be.
That initial DGW sees the addition of Aston Villa vs Sheffield United and Man City vs Arsenal as they begin the new regime on the Wednesday before the rest start over the following weekend. Our Fixture Tracker has been ammended accordingly but we would probably take our usual colour ranking with a pinch of salt right now as it is based on normal conditions and does definitely take into consideration some sort of home / away bias, and if the Bundesliga is anything to go by then that particular advantage is out the window. Especially as some of these games look like beieng played at neutral venues. Can’t even begin to imagine why. At least not without insulting most of Liverpool or Manchester…..
We may do an initial Fixtures article but beyond that the opportunity to provide any articles between GW’s will be tight, and limited at best.
FIXTURE TRACKER
This has been updated accordingly and now looks like this:

Player Tips?
See the above, basically. Probably the best we can do here is to promise that your usual protagonists will be around in the comment section to help and advise where possible.
CAPOS
We intend to do one of these prior to ‘GW30+’, in fact it is already in hand. Beyond that though we can’t promise anything, again for the reasons stated above; literally no time.
FF247 Site Team
We shall continue to do our transfers and we will post those and our weekly Captain Picks in our Live Match Chat article as detailed below.
Live Match Chat
This will be posted prior to GW30+ and will have the usual stuff on it such as the deadline and the weekly fixtures picture, as well as the new addition of the FF247 Site Team info.
We don’t intend to post a new one prior to each GW, instead we shall do what we have done with Bundesliga and simply update the article each time a deadline passes with new info. Given that it will contain the aforementioned FF247 Site Team info it will be updated earlier than usual.
The games for GW30+in full…
Anyone else who’s concidering a strong bench? The rotation could be brutal…
A good bench is essential as rotation is inevitable.
Where we could fall down is the 45 or pre-60 minute subs increasing as seen in Germany just now.
I’m not sure about this. Might be dangerous with full backs as they will be rotated. Centre backs will play every game usually less likely to be rotated especially outside the big 6. Because teams can make 5 subs that means players are more likely to feature especially attacking City midfielders so not sure a strong bench is that necessary
Yeah but it’s not only the rotation that worries me. It’s been three month, could be some wierd line ups to start with. And if lfc takes six points straight away, who knows what’ll happen there…
Nothing you can do about weird lineups, surely can’t start predicting them, just go with the flow and don’t be worried! They will hit everyone the same way
However, I’d also say depends on your TV, if you have lots then you might wanna consider a better bench, but I really agree with Smash that with 5 subs it’s just gonna get easier, although your players might play less minutes, but that affects every fantasy manager
I think there is a likelihood that some players will miss some games altogether (especially teams with cup games and [likely] Europe to come at the end) hence why I think at least two starting subs would be preferable.
What are thoughts on the DGW teams?
Man City: KDB, Kun plus Sterling/Ederson
Aston Villa: May be Grealish, the rest are a trap?
Arsenal: PEA, may be Leno, the rest are a trap?
Sheffield Utd: 3 Def, or Henderson + 2 Def.
So may be 8ish would be enough?
Villa: Grealish for sure. Samatta will likely get both games up top as Villa don’t have anyone else to play there. Reina is ok. Mings maybe. Mcginn is back training again.
City: Aguero, KDB, Sterling, possibly Mahrez. Ederson will play both at least. Defence is difficult to predict.
Sheffield United. All the defenders and Henderson that’s about it.
Arsenal: Auba is the obvious pick. Saka maybe but not convinced he plays both. I quite like Leno in goal will get saves at City and might get clean sheet at Brighton. Defenders are expensive. Pepe and Ozil are quite wild punts
Think Smash covers it here.
Hey smash!
That’s how I see it for Villa, Arsenal and Sheffield.
I might go with Kun and KDB for city coverage and may even stretch to ederson if I can make it work with funds!
I’m just trying to get lucky with three Arsenal players, attackers, Nketiah, Saka perhaps? 5 subs so surely they will at least get a few shots on goal
Nketiah might be worth a punt as he will get some minutes by the looks of it

As long as I don’t end up destroying my TV I plan to binge on DGW players as this may be one of the few opportunities to nick a few points. I’m not under many illusions however.
I’m thinking Kun, KdB and Sterling; Leno, Auba and Saka; Grealish plus maybe a punt (or even two) from Villa; the Sheffield goalie plus a couple of their defenders.
Captain either Kdb or Kun, probably.
I’m going to start getting my head round the games after and in some ways see that as more challenging.
I think it’s going to be an absolute lottery and luck with the captain each week may well swing a few mini-leagues.
This was my team before I started making transfers today. I now think free hit might not be a bad move. I mean going back to that ain’t too bad. I’d want the United players and the Everton players won’t I.
I guess it all depends how different your team would be if you wildcarded. If it would likely be pretty similar then FH makes sense, if not the BB then WC route could makes sense.
That’s the thing we won’t really know. The form players might be completely different. I’d need to get some sort of bench to bench boost where rotation might be more
1 GW will not give you enough data for the wildcard, so really it would be on past form. Hence waiting may be 3 weeks would be useful. Agree about the bench and reserve keeper.
You could set up for 30+ and 31+ in mind, a bit more balanced, then WC with more data. BB could be 30+ or 33+.
Actually Liv play City in 32, so you could FH that week and WC in 33, BB in 34. So set up for 30 and 31 and hold your chips for later?
Smash
Holgate no ?
Abraham hot & cold ?
Martial hot & cold ?
Weak bench ?
FH means you go back to your pre-Covid team & can’t BB?
Whereas FT /BB Gives you the opportunity to WC to the new normal…
Whatever that looks like,
I mean that your team looked good before Covid, but might be the case that with rotation / 5 subs you may need a completely different looking side post Covid return?
You’ll know more about who’s fit / on form after the first round of games, and how the WC might benefit the new normal.
Still think I’m leaning towards getting the BB out of the way. So FH the following week or wildcard.
Great to see some of the old faces back today.
Haven’t had time to have a proper think about what I’ll do yet.
Hey GP
Have you decided wether to FH or FT & BB ?
assuming you’ve got a WC to sort after.
I do have the WC yeah.
Only initial thought was to attack the DGW (as I thought it is likely to be our only one) then WC after to something I’d like.
What do we think of setting up for 30 and 31, FH in 32 (Pool v city), WC in 33 then BB in 34? Gives more data for the wildcard. The risks may be that 31 will be a bit heavy on 30DGW teams and you may need to keep Salah and TAA for 30. However it could be another way of cutting it?
Would also allow TC on GW30 if you have it.
Have a FH in mind for the last week when we know who will really need a result (hopefully there will still be some in need!)
All,
Probably just going to do a few tweaks to my current team – got a bit value my team so
I don’t want to go crazy with unlimited transfers.
Will defo get KDB in and possibly Kun and ederson.
Thoughts?
Great initial position Mitro
