The Very Hard FF247 Quiz #1

Okay Ladies, Gents and the Inbetweenies, it is our pleasure to offer you the first of an occasional series of quizzes to entertain you during the International breaks or when I’m bored and have nothing better to do. Usual format is for 10 questions ranging from the child’s play for folks like Elle and Init, to the bloody ridiculous to keep the likes of Ivan and Cookie awake at night!

Now here’s the thing, we need you to post your answers in the same order as the questions; we know it’s bleedin’ obvious but we’ve seen you handle Harry & Lloyd’s……..

Any questions that you have no idea about you can either leave blank or use italics for a wild guess. As we slowly get the correct answers I might start giving out some clues for the tricky ones, or maybe not.
Also, please, please DO NOT post answers that you have Googled, because that just ruins the fun for everybody else. Kindly don’t spoil it for the others, ok? There is a question that I am sure that is impossible to know or guess, so we’ll know. There is the odd bonus point available too. Don’t ask for clarifications, the questions are what they are so just go for it.

So for our first, of hopefully many quizzes, your topic is ENGLISH managers as in Nationality. Questions cover the birth of the FA up to the present day. Football really did exist prior to Sky TV and Jim White!

Eyes down, game on!
Q1. Who was the last English manager to win a European trophy, guess the year to give yourself a bonus point?

Q2. Easy one, who was the last English manager to win the top-flight league in England?

Q3. Who is the English manager that is generally accepted as ‘the father’ of the modern game? Which was the first club he managed for a bonus point?

Q4. Who is the most successful English manager in top-flight football in England?

Q5. Who is the longest current serving English manager in League football?

Q6. Who is the longest serving English manager ever in League football?

Q7. Who was the 1st English manager to win back-to-back FA Cups? Correctly name the team for a bonus point.

Q8. Who was the 1st English manager to win the FA Cup with different clubs?

Q9. Who is the English manager with the most FA Cup wins? Which club for a bonus point?

Q10. England has the most FA Cup winning managers with 51, but how many titles?

Do you guys think it’s too risky to not include Salah in my WC team? I would have Mané instead and it would free up a lot of funds.

He’s the main conundrum right now. When we discussed it the other day the one main pertinent point I remember being raised, or at least stuck with me was from Mito and I quote “If Hazard does well, it won’t be just casuals (selling Salah). Many might start to feel that Mane and Hazard plus about 3 million might be better“.

      Kruzcampo says:

I am thinking of binning both Salah & Kun to WC . Bought Wally & Miky for a hit and both got 1 point and are going down in price rapidly! So I wipe the hit and get Haz Moura,Mane & Maddison with Rich to come in when his price drops. Mitro,Ings & Vardy the front 3. I aim to have a strong 15 without premiums to avoid too much rotation and cover it with the bench. Switch formation also as required each GW.
Keeping cash back to get KDB when he is fit.

      • Red Robbo says:

Kruz – that always sounds good in theory until you have a few weeks of leaving the wrong players on the bench and watching as they outscore your first eleven! It’s a matter of personal choice, but I generally prefer to have bench players who are cheap as chips and as many premiums as I can get…they are premium prices for a reason. I have started the season with a squad to rotate players and usually last about 2 weeks when I start downgrading the bench to bring in whoever looks like a “must have”.

      AT says:

Nope. I’d only risk it personally if you have a WC in hand to bring him back in without major resculpting if he hits starts pinging them in again. I say again, he’s hardly doing poorly. On current trajectory he’d still get 250+ points this year.

      • Kruzcampo says:

Yes I have considered a way to get Salah back, but I am concerned about the fixture pile up in the next few weeks as Klopp will rotate without a doubt. I will have 2.7 mill itb so could do Haz to Salah in 1 or if I have swapped Moura to KDB then it takes 2.

        • 1 of 7 says:

          Hi Kruzcampo,
I would look at his record against City, Chelsea and Spurs last season, Salah scored in each home game. It is my belief that Liverpool will up their performance against better opposition. I could be wrong but I wouldn’t risk it. Mane had a very off day against Brighton but will contribute a lot of goals and assists.

        • Kruzcampo says:

It is a tricky one but FPL statistics show he is down 43% with another 211,000 to drop his price.Down to 52.6% ownership.Still solid but maybe people are wavering and 3 mill is good to strengthen a squad.

        • inittowinit says:

I don’t think it’s so much a case of upping their performance but rather that the bigger teams don’t / won’t just turn up and park themselves 20 yards from goal. They’re more inclined to have a go back, which obviously leaves spaces etc. Apart from Jose, of course.

    1 of 7 says:

Just to those transferring Salah, Last season in his 1st four games he had 2 goals and 1 assist, This season his record is identical, If he starts to up that ratio after the international break, It will take 2 transfers to get him back. I would stick with him as he just seemed a little rusty to date but still managed 2 goals and an assist in his four games.
