Tips, Gameweek 28…. and 29 – FPL Fantasy Football Premier League
Well it has been quite a week in the world of Fantasy Football, albeit a strange one, as most of the big news and activity has been off the field of play as it has all been about two things. Initially it was about planning how on earth we were suppposed to field anything approaching a full team never mind a decent one for the next couple of weeks. Then all of a sudden we were handed what at first appeared to be some great news about a much enhanced double game-week in GW31. Great news until the implications of planning for this, straight after having the barren fields of GW’s 28 and 29 to contend with, began to sink in. We shall deal with Gw’s 30 &31 in due course but this week the pressing concern for many will be which players to pick for this GW28 that will also play in GW29. Well there aren’t that many but here goes….
Lets begin by taking a look at the actual fixtures themselves just for reference –
From this we can see that if you are going to transfer in a player this week that also features in GW29, which we would strongly recommend that you do, then you are limited to players from –
Cardiff
Chelsea
Crystal Palace
Fulham
Norwich
Stoke
Southampton
Tottenham Hotspur
So taking into consideration the combined fixtures to an extent, as well as recent form and potential, here is our quick run-down on those players that we feel will merit your consideration for the next two weeks.

John Terry
Love him or loathe him (yeah ok, we know the answer), the much maligned Chelsea captain is having another fantastic season. The winner he scored last time out (yeah again we know, you usually have to touch the ball for this, he didn’t) epitomised everything about him and could be the reason that Chelsea go on and eventually claim the crown this season. The fact is, that in the last minute, he was the one stretching every sinew to get on the end of that ball and win the game for his side. He is second only to Hazard in overall fantasy points scored for Chelsea and the fact is that their main two strikers, Eto’o and Torres, have only managed six more points than him combined! Fulham away and Tottenham at home may see some clean sheet points, certainly in the first one, but don’t be surprised to see JT hurl himself at a few more winning goals as he drags his troops relentlessly toward the title. But don’t worry with Terry as we all know full well that even if he doesn’t actually score or win you a trophy he will certainly claim it!

Charlie Adam
Good old Charlie was fantasy gold a few short seasons ago at Blackpool, but an indifferent spell at Liverpool and an injury hit start to this campaign has seen him fall off our radar as of late but his recent return to full fitness has catapulted him straight back onto it. Two goals against Man Utd set alarm bells ringing that the man with the bullet of a left foot could once more be a budget-friendly fantasy option. Add in that he is on almost all of Stokes set plays, and let’s face it they like a set play, and you can easily see fantasy points potential. Given the stop-start season he has had, a seven goal haul is rather impressive and with his propensity to shoot from anywhere along with being on pens, fee-kicks and corners we think he is definitely worth consideration from here on in. This week he faces Arsenal but it is at home so do not let that put you off too much and beyond that he has a very nice set of fixtures. The poor mans Stevie G he may be, but at just £5.8m that’s a big saving on the man himself for someone who basically does the same job.
[divider_1px]
Robert Snodgrass
A very timely winner last week against Spurs may have just saved Chris Hughton from the chop and in the process propelled Norwich up the table to relative safety. For now anyway. They may well need a few more moments of magic from Snodgrass and co before the season is out to ensure they avoid the drop. Much like Charlie Adam, Snodgrass has had a much interrupted season which derailed many an early season fantasy plan, as his form at the back end of last season and in pre-season was suggesting that he would be a mainstay budget friendly fantasy asset this year. A modest return of three goals this term does not sound great but two of those have come in the last four games so perhaps he is finally beginning to play his way back into form after those injury problems. Norwich visit home-shy Villa next and then host Stoke so you could do far worse than have a punt on Snodgrass to deliver again.
[divider_1px]
Rickie Lambert
Mr Consisent is Rickie. He may not be as explosive as an Aguero or a Sturridge but if you are looking for a third striker to compliment a ‘big two’ then you could do far worse at £7.2m than the England striker. Much of the early Southampton fantasy interest centered around J-Rod but the fact is this, a bit like Suarez as of late, J-Rod generally plays further out wide allowing Lambert to occupy the more central position. A bit like Sturridge then, Lambert is benefiting from this positioning and outscoring his colleague at present. He has eight goals and seven assists but is also lethal from a free-kick and is on penalties too. There are not too many strikers that have all that in their locker and also play for a relatively successful team. They have Liverpool up next but let’s face it that’s hardly a frightening defence to go against recently. They may well get beat in the game but they will probably still be able to score a good few in the process!
[divider_1px]
Emmanuel Adebayor
Well Spurs are at home and it’s Cardiff that are the visitors. Say no more. Ole seems to be setting up to go all out attack in an attempt to stave off relegation but it’s fair to say that he’s having mixed results with that approach! Adebayor can be a loathsome and selfish individual, a bit like Terry previously but funnily enough those are just the qualities that any good striker needs and he has them in abundance. Anyone who earns £80k a week but thinks nothing of rocking up with a black bin bag and filling it with his team-mates boots from the dressing room can surely help himself to a couple of selfish goals against a lacklustre Cardiff, can’t they? The one issue with the Ivorian is his fixtures beyond GW28. He has Chelsea away next in GW29 and then Arsenal but you would not bet against him notching in either of those and Cardiff at home this week may be enough of an incentive to tempt many as he will be a sure-fire captaincy candidate too.

Martin Olsson
Whilst JT and his fellow Chelsea defenders may be the best picks this week we appreciate that you may not be able or willing to stretch your budget to such luxury items and so may need a cheaper alternative that still has decent fixtures to see you safely through the choppy waters of the next few weeks. Well Martin Olsson could be just that man. Priced at just £4.3m Olsson may not offer the goal threat of a Terry or Ivanovic but for sureity of starts and a bit of clean sheet potential he could well serve his purpose. Norwich kept Spurs at bay last time out with a mightily impressive defensive performance. Add to this that they managed clean sheets prior to that against Man City and Newcastle and you get the feeling that whilst they may not be the leagues biggest goal threat Norwich certainly know how to keep things tight at the back when they need to. A trip to Villa and a home game with Stoke offer a great opportunity for this run to continue. It may or may not be relevant but while Olsson has not registered a PL goal this season his record at international level is actually rather good, he’s managed almost one in four for Sweden which is quite impressive given that their team talk consists solely of the line ‘pass it to Ibra’.

Eden Hazard
We couldn’t really not tip this guy as he is the highest scoring midfielder in the game, second only to Suarez overall. And he plays in both GW’s 28 and 29 – and his team are top of the table. Most of you will probably already own him but if you don’t then this would be the perfect time to switch one of your more valuable assets who perhaps have a couple of weeks off and finally board the Hazard train. He’s not cheap at £11m but you usually get what you pay for in this game and twelve goals, eight assists and twenty bonus points attest to that. He’s been quiet on the points front for the last two weeks but with Fulham up next we fully expect that he will be back amongst them this week.
There are other viable candidates to transfer in this week as alternatives to our chosen few, namely Branislav Ivanovic (or any Chelsea defender!), Adam Lallana, Paulinho or maybe even back Peter Crouch to be the man on the end of all of those Charlie Adam deliveries, he usually is.
Whatever you decide this week we do of course wish you the best of luck as always. Happy hunting!
Thanks for reading Tips – Gameweek 28… and 29, this article was written by Inittowinit
So who’s captaining Adebayor then?
Brought him in this week, he best do the same as tonight.
Definitely thinking armband to the Togo guy.
Yeah, same here. I don’t think Liverpool will score much against Southampton… we’ve struggled against them in recent games. Hopefully Cardiff keep defending as they have recently… 😉
LS – I fancy Liverpool to hammer Southampton, score 3 at least anyway.
LS
Soton have conceded 16 goals at home, 10 of them in their last 5 matches…
3 against Chelsea…
3 against Tottenham…
2 against Arsenal…
2 against Stoke…
They’re not as defensively stable as they once were, and with Liverpool free-scoring as of late…
Sturridge for me.
But then again I don’t have Adebayor so it’s really not a dilemma for me!
:big-lol:
You may be right guys ( I hope you are 😉 ) But we lost two of our last 3 games against them … scoring only 2 goals… not the best of records !
2 goals in them 3 games *
Ade feels like a no-brainer this week as Cardiff have been all over the shop recently. But….. one things been bothering me about Spurs so I’ve checked it out –
Last 4 games AFTER a Euro game midweek –
Norwich LOST 1-0
Liverpool LOST 5-0
Man Utd DREW 2-2
Newcastle LOST 1-0
I’d still say go for him but only if you already own him. I was sorely tempted to put him in and normally would have even just for this one but obviously circumstances are different at the moment and you need to consider the next few games also, and their’s are very very tough ones, on paper.
init – Interesting stuff mate cheers, drawing with United eh..what was that all about??
Well I think that goes down as a loss really as everyone else is beating them easily! 😉 Probably proves my point even more!
It does mate, we’re there for the taking more often than not, i think he’s lost the players altogether, if we don’t get the next transfer window right then i fear the worst for us, 11 off fourth is a major collapse!
Evening Init and Tekno (and everyone else!)
Good stats you’ve both quoted. 4 games is a decent trend.
Thats just changed my captain choice from Ade to Sturridge.
Hope the trend continues!
Nah they’ll hammer them 6-0 now!
Nice grav by the way. Well ok that’s pushing it but nice to see that you have a grav, anyway 😉
Init, do you know the film the image is from?
It’s a belter!
Eriksen made me re-think my transfer plans…damn.. :noshake:
BTW – Evening all !
Same here HL, had planned to ship him for Snodgrass this week, but might keep him now.
Tekno – I don’t have him atm, thought he’s out with the new Tot’nam formation…
But after 2night, he should be a definite starter, no ?
What do you think ?
HL
If you don’t have him, I would be skeptical towards bringing him in due to his fixtures.
Hey Dr, how come your team isn’t linked anymore matey??
Hey NIN – thought it was bringing me bad luck…
Had a few bad weeks and dropped out of the 50K, so decided to remove the link …
Just a moment of madness, nothing else ..
How’s things, mate ?
HL – Haha, no bother. Yeah i’m good thanks for asking, i’m looking forward to the next few game weeks, the fixture list is bonkers ha, hopefully we’re on the good end of it!
Hey guys, wow what a head ache these FPL fixtures are.
Adrián Manonne
Ryan Bennett Coleman Chambers Ivanovic Kolarov
Noone Paulinho Hazard Mata Yaya
Rodriguez Sturridge Suárez
1FT, 3.7m in the bank.
Not sure what transfer to do. I’m thinking Kolarov to Terry??
Advice would be greatly appreciated
Evening Smiffy,
With all that cash you’ve certainly got lots of options!
You’ve already got chelsea defence coverage and looks like you can field 10/11 this weekend (4-3-3) – assuming bennet starts, which i’m not sure if he will. So you could hold on to your transfer this week. Given the alternatives tho, double chelsea at the back could be a good call.
If bennet is a risk, then i’d use the cash to upgrade him to terry or azpil so you keep kolarov for when man city eventually play again.
Personaly, I’d be tempted to hold onto your FT and give yourself 2 for wk29.
Good luck.
Chins- cheers.
My worry with Kolarov is that he isn’t guaranteed to start as he rotates with Clichy. So he probably only play 1 game in the DGW. I’m tempted to leave Bennett as he has a fixture in GW29, but he’s injured at the moment. I feel I should do a transfer and bring a player in who plays in GW29 as at the minute I only have 8 who play! Really not sure
Yep, kolarov is a pain. I have him too and he’s getting binned this week for the pikey.
Honestly, i had it planned before i read your post!
Honest!
Inittowinit- Great article about the fixtures the other day mate. Any chance you could offer me some advice?

Jeez Bench! I went for subtle but if you prefer the sledgehammer then fire away!! :biggun:
Cheers for the update Bench.
With all the UPL and MLS stuff, the best league system in FPL seemed to take a back seat. Good to see it back on the agenda.

+1
Lads, concerning Eriksen:
After Cardiff, Tottenham plays Chelsea and ARSENAL.
My plan was to sell him for Snodgrass this GW, then sell Snodgrass for Johnson/Mirallas for GW 31.
Should I…
A – Sell Eriksen for Snodgrass now
B – Ignore his bad fixtures and sell him for GW 31
C – See how he performs/if he plays against Cardiff, and then assess whether to sell him or not based on his performance.
If he doesn’t play against Cardiff and Chelsea, I’ll have 10 men. If I keep him, I won’t need to take a hit for GW 29 to have 11 players with a fixture.
C I think
C. The sensible choice.
C …
Tekno – I agree, C. It’s worth having a look if it could save you points, i didn’t see any of the game but supposedly he played well.
Wow, talk about unanimous decision. C it is then.
Guys so far I have 7 players for GW 29 and 4 DGW players for GW 31 … and I have 2 FT this week so I have a total of 5 FT before GW 31 ! How much DGW players do people think is enough for GW 31? I have no idea what to do for GW 31 because I can’t start preparing for it now because the players will not play in the coming weeks (like man city, west ham, hull players etc..) … but then the free transfers will go to waste ! Any tips ? Thanks And sorry for the essay !
Luis,
Looks like the best you can do this week is a 3-3-3 formation (mata, Silva, mariappa, bruce all out or doubtful), so i suggest you use one transfer this week to replace one of them, and hold the other transfer for next week.
Re DGW, i imagine that given those who play one week at a time will chase wk28 and 29 and struggle to do much more thAn 5 DGW players in wk31. This will increase if more fixtures get reschuled though.
Some smug bastards like me still have a WC though, so will be looking to field 8+ DGWers. 😉
Lol lucky you 😛
Yeah, I’ll have to replace one of them .. but not Mata or Silva because I need them for the DGW and there aren’t great alternatives in midfield for the next 2 weeks.
I’ll probably stick with fielding 8 for next week then and start using my FT’s to transfer in DGW players from next week .. so it should leave me with 8 DGW players for GW 31 without a hit ! Close enough to a WC team 😉
Thanks for your reply !
ls you need to use 1 ft this week or loose it i’d do bruce – olson it will give you 1 more player for next 2 weeks then start bringing in dgwr’s most people won’t have many in 29 and there’s not many worth having anyway, then go all out on cty and bin dippers 😉
Yeah i’ll do something like that Gasco but maybe take out Mariappa instead because he’s lost his place. Hopefully I can pick the correct DGW players 😉 Thanks mate.
Those lucky managers with there WC may have 11!! So you need a good few. I wouldn’t go mad with hits though, but a couple for big hitting players may be worth while.
+1, for GW30&31 maybe, get as many as you can for 2 -4’s maybe?? Personally i think 6 minimum, interesting to hear what others think about that actually, minimum DGW players you’d be comfortable with?? Good stuff LS.
12 In case one gets dropped 😉
ha, it would be nice! I’ll settle for 10, might even take a -4 a go for the 11, not sure how wise it is to sell Hazard though, they’ll probably piss on Arsenal that week anyway.
Yeah, 8 DGW with no hits or 9 with a hit is the plan to keep up with the rest. Only problem is GW 29 is going to be a shite one with 8 players 😉
LS – I’ll have 8 for 29 too, it’s worth it to hold onto your players in my opinion, unless there’s a Wc available of course. Just add a couple more before week 31 and you’re good to go matey!
Yeah, there isn’t much choice for GW 29. Cheers for the replies mate.
No problem, cheers!
I was gonna say, Smithy is right there chins. WC needs to be used to it’s fullest. I’ll be having 11 of them no doubt about it.
Sorry boys, i was thinking i would only have 9 as i’d want to keep Hazard and Coleman. Completely forgot i could put them on the bench for that week instead of selling them!!
:stupid:
Hahaha chins, wakey wakey!!
NIN, what can i say? I’ve been having a shoker lately. I think all this transfer planning has overloaded my brain. I’m exhausted.
* shocker.
See what i mean!!
Haha, FPL side affects!!
LS – me thinks GW31 will be a make or brake GW, mate…
While all of us are focusing on having more players for GW29, we are losing the focus and it may cost us big time !
A lot of people will do crazy moves just to field 8/9/10/11 players for GW29…there will be a lot of movement in the prices as well, bcs of this…
The key thing imho is not to sell those players who have brought you big pts or to sell a player just for 1week to have a full 11 while losing on Team Value/profit for then to buy him/them back again…
Having 8 or 9 players in GW 29 is no crime – (as most of us will be on the same boat) – as long if you have the “right ” players …
5FT’s (and an eventual/unplanned bonus -4hit ) is pretty solid , mate ! No stress !
Just do ur homework and go with ur gut/choose the players u think will do ok and good luck !
HL
In a nutshell.
Cheers HL, appreciate your response. Yeah, what you’re saying is definitely right and will be taken into account.
In answer to your captain question, If I didn’t have Adebayor I would captain Sturridge. But don’t listen to me lol… I’ve had an awful time with captain choices this season haha.
Thanks and good luck 😉
Quality HL totally agree, I’ve a saved FT which I’m not using on 29 as I feel it will be better served saved for 31, having a full team for 29 means you’ll be needing to take hits for suitable DGW coverage which can always backfire.
LS
My current plan is to have Kolarov, Yaya, Johnson/Mirallas (if DGW for Everton), Mata, Sturridge, Suarez, and Aguero, so 7 for me, where 4 of them will have multiple DGWs.
Fair enough, but beware of Kolarov because he is rotated a lot !
LS
Yeah I know, but he’ll probably start at home to Fulham in the DGW and that could be carnage.
